I went to PayPal this morning as 123rf and Pond5 had paid me and found that there was an unresolved "issue".
PayPal has placed a temporary hold - " Inquiry by PayPal Temporary Hold". I clicked the Resolve button and most of the questions were about the shipping address I had sent the goods to as they thought the payment had come from someone other than Pond5 GmbH:
"You have received a payment that we believe may not have been authorized by
the PayPal account holder. Here are the details of the transaction we are
investigating:"
They recommend that I don't ship the item :)
At the end of the resolution process I get to provide details about the transaction and I explained that Pond5 was a stock agency and they were paying me (as they have before) for licenses of my work. No physical goods involved and I couldn't understand why PayPal was so far off the mark in what was going on with this business. Surely there have been enough PayPal payments to contributors that they understand what's going on.
"This payment will remain on hold and unavailable to you until we complete
our investigation. We will email you when we complete our investigation."
So PayPal is demented and I don't get paid - lovely. It's a small amount (I don't sell much at Pond5) so it doesn't matter, but I wondered if this had happened to others or if it was just me

Yes! Same thing here. I attached a PDF of the email in my response to them. Pond5 is trippin'.

same problem for me

I also contacted Pond5 support to let them know what had happened and to ask them to help resolve this ASAP
-
Maybe Pond5 did some internal changes and created some new paypal accounts which triggered the measurements.
However, paypal in general should not be trusted.

same problem my wife portfolio

...However, paypal in general should not be trusted.
I don't "trust" my bank or cell phone company either, but in terms of delivering payments from agencies to me, PayPal has been doing this reliably - this is the first hold ever for me - since 2004. Nearly 12 years.
I'm based in the US and perhaps their track record is worse in some countries, but they've been doing what they need to do - moving money from agencies to my bank account - without fail.

Yes, exactly. I cannot count how many times they imposed "security" measurements to hold my money and the money of others - even against local laws. In the national TV there had been even reports on their shady practices.
-
Not only my Pond5 money did not arrive, the earning from FAA has not arrived either.
Maybe it's not an issue with Pond5, rather it is a Paypal problem.
-
No payment received yet. My Pond5 dashboard shows "Payday Paypal" and "Undo Payday" events today - so they sent payment then swiftly "unsent" it
-
I did not receive any email from paypal that means that pond5 didn't send the money to paypal at all

my payment has come through now

Same here but my Pond5 dashboard shows a payment then an "undo payday". Now I see they just added another line for "payday paypal" so maybe it's going through now.

I had problems with P5 payment last month, but they paid me later.
This month same again..
-
I had payments from SS, 123 and Canva successfully this month. Nothing yet from IS, but I don't remember when they said they would send payments (account zeroed first of the month). The PayPal site was acting screwy this morning, but finally allowed me to transfer money to my bank account. Don't know if that has anything to do with the problems with Pond5 or not. I never bothered to sign up with them.
-
Just got my notice, and was able to initiate the transfer out of PayPal to my bank without issue.
However, the amount is terrible! It's by far the smallest amount I've earned on P5 since 2011. Less than 1/3 my average earnings. :( >:(
And this month isn't one bit better.

Pond5 support replied that their accounting team has "verified all required information, so that Paypal can transfer the funds that we paid you today. Paypal has assured us that the hold should be released within the next 24-48 hours."
-
My payment is on hold as well.. Haven't heard back from Paypal support yet.
-
Got mine today.
-
On mine it looks like they paid me, reversed it and paid me again today. The balance is in my PP account.

I just called Paypal the last time this happened and it was resolved immediately on the phone.
-
I had the same problem last month and again... this month.
Last month my payout came 6 days later . It's strange but I got this issue only with Pond5
-
From which country they are paying us?
Ireland, Swiss, Czech or US? That's where P5 have been registered as a company so maybe they've changed address and now need a verification of some sort, which takes time. :-\
-
My Pond5 payment had no problems, but one of my banks, HSBC, asked me a lot of questions about all these Paypal payments transferred to my account. Even after explaining all details, they told me that they don't want to see Paypal payments flowing into a personal account.
So I'm getting the payments through a Chase account now.
-
The thing is that i have this problem only from March 2016.
It never happened before.
"KnowYourOnions": maybe this is the point..

Sounds like the problem is Pond rather than Paypal...

My Paypal payment is still blocked! Did you guys had to perform any action to unblock it? I replied Paypal in the incident twice and I'm waiting.

Mine is still waiting for PayPal's action too. If nothing happens by tomorrow, I'll call PayPal and see what they say.
-
I suspect Pond5 is short on cash. That's why paypal can't process the payment.
-
Finally when my payment went through from POND5 i get message from Paypal that my payment is blocked.
I called Paypal and it was resolved immediately on the phone, but they was surprised and couldn't tell what causes this kind of issue every month. :o

Slight possibility this may be the case, almost no one got any sales in March through early April although a few folks are reporting some sales this week and since Pond 5 gets 50% of revenue this might have caught them a bit short or at least a bit short in the account that services payments until the higher ups transfer funds.
I suspect that company could be running close to running out of runway, their costs just for video storage alone much be astronomical, office space, moving expenses again just recently, wages, etc, it all ads up and fast and I see a high burn rate and that's never good.
They won't be getting another $60 million from any investors that's for sure.
-
got that account but havent sell there, need be approved there?
-
I called Paypal, they told me they would wait for a reaction by Pond5 on this before releasing the money..

Good luck with waiting for a reaction by P5! 8)
They are too busy partying at NAB Show in Las Vegas.

I'd let them party, they way it's going it might be their last time at NAB. Not looking good at all and as you know we get 50% and they get 50% and with the current problems they aren't getting 50% because of the sales slump so unless they have a printing press there and are printing cash their burn rate on investor funds must be very high.

This puts the ball back in to Pond 5's court if that's what they told you, might be same issue for those with Skrill, maybe they could not afford to pay everyone plus their operating expenses this period and the previous one so they deferred some for now.
This happened at a company I used to work for, the hydro and internet got paid, essential operating costs got paid but not all staff, excuses ranged from someone was away sick in accounting to the printer broke down and then couldn't print cheques and then came one morning at 11am the bankruptcy announcement.
Unless the payment companies like Paypal and others are outright saying this is new security rules or whatever I'd be looking towards Pond5 as the source of the issue and that's not good, anytime pay is late it's a huge red flag.
-
I got payment this morning.
P5 explanation:
"We're very sorry you had to reach out again. It seems a security key issue with Paypal is what's causing the problem with our attempts to pay you. We've gone ahead contacted them, and attempted to transfer again today. It appears successful now."

Yeah, right. The check's in the mail...
-
PayPal sent me e-mail this morning saying that their investigation was complete and they were releasing the funds (and I've been able to request the transfer to my bank a/c).
There was no explanation of what happened. Other than "We appreciate your cooperation." there was nothing even close to an apology for the delay...
-
Finally...
We have lifted the temporary hold on the funds. You now have full access to
those amounts in your account.
We appreciate your cooperation.

I think it has something to do with Hillary Clinton's email server at her Chappaqua mansion. ::)
