any thoughts comments? anything? is it worth it to try them out for still image sales? Any feedback or thoughts would be appreciated.

Same here. They've had my photos for more years than I've been making videos, but there have never been many sales.

I've had more success with videos there than with stills.

If you have been following the drama at Shutterstock since the June 1 royalty cuts, you might have heard that a group of contributors are forming The Stock Coalition with the aim of improving deals for contributors.

Pond5 has generally done well for video contributors and not much otherwise. Pond5 is interested in working with the Coalition to change that and make them strong in still images & illustrations too.

Keep an eye on this if you are looking for good places for your work. It'd be nice to see some positive news for contributors (note that no one wants to see "exciting news!" from any agency ever again :)

I only have around 400 photos on pond5, but they are increasing sales slowly. And since I price between 5-20 dollars, if I get a sale, then at 40% it equals many, many subs.

I will now upload a lot more photos and hope that the management does something with them.

It takes hard work and patience, it is a marathon not a sprint.

at 40%

Image sales on Pond5 pay 50% royalty.

You are right! I forgot! They didn‘t change the photo royalty.

If you have a lot of patience, they're worth it. I see few sales for months but every now and then I get some. It all adds up over the years.

Pond5 has offered to help Stock Coalition members with large portfolios to upload more easily. https://www.facebook.com/groups/261369748434285/permalink/281266709777922/ (https://www.facebook.com/groups/261369748434285/permalink/281266709777922/)

I have had about 4K photos there for years. Some months there are no sales, some months ok, every once in a rare while (maybe one month ever for me) they rival SS in $ amount.  Certainly don't expect them to replace lost SS income on a regular basis. Being able to set prices is nice. Mine are 10-20$, smaller than full size sells for less.

50% sure is nice, I just wish it happened a whole lot more.

Maybe they have or will change, and the welcome of people with large portfolios, might be good news. Here's part of an email I got from their support. (I had written about slow review times as well) It's honest, they are primarily a video agency. They don't promote the photo collection. The link for trending photos might be helpful?

Thanks for your inquiry.

Since we are primarily a footage marketplace, I don't believe we currently have any initiatives that specifically promote our photo library. Please be advised that review times are mostly based off of contributor submissions, and some times of the year are busier than others (ie, the holidays, production seasons, etc). Hi There, just circling back on this to see if anyone had any thoughts if photo sales have increased on this site since there was some previous talk of them working to promote images and their involvement with the stock coalition.

Does images seem to be selling more these days or if the feedback the same months back? Any insight would be appreciated.

How would you compare the sales volume between say POND5 and SS for stills?

I guess I'm down to repeating myself and Pond5:

Which links to a page for February 2020. Does that answer how much they care about stills?

I love the PONDS upload because of the ease. I have a few thousand images and maybe sell 3-5 images a year. Not sure why I keep uploading . I guess I am hopping for a miracle . The videos do sell on PONDS just almost no sales for stills.

Well for us who produce good work video sales are much higher. What kind of video only sells for $4? Perhaps price your work higher, that is if it is halfway decent.
