Pond5 forcing race to bottom, new Search default Price limit

(1/1)

Bart:
Looking for some of my flies and how they turn up on P5, I just noticed that they have implemented a default "Price Range" from $0-$80... I agree that the price range tool is great for fine tuning searches, but here it is turned to $80 max as default. I don't have insight into how clients search on pond5, but as an educated guess I would argue that 80%-90% of customers will NOT expand search preferences and adjust the slider to over $80/per clip ... thus if you want to be visible in search results to 100% of buyers, you have to price your HD and 4K clips under $80 or loose out on huge chunk of search returns!!

ps. tried on 3 web browsers. first load results show full range, second visit show $0-$80 results

Strange, where are you located?

I just tried it (north america), and it shows minimum to maximum ($700).

It's not on for all sessions.  Not sure what the criteria is or who gets this "feature" and who doesn't.  Might be geographical.

P5 calls this a "test" and it's been happening for about 2 weeks.  Some saw a max of $50, some got $80.  Others don't get a max limit.

There's been some heated discussions in the P5 forums.  I think P5 scaled back this "test" as a result.

Currently, I don't see a limit when searching.  But last week, I had a $80 default max.

It could be if you're logged in, you see one thing, but if you're logged out, you see another.

80$ cap it's for hd..it means that if your hd downscaled from 4k is priced lower than 80$ (no matter if the 4k version is priced at 10000$)both hd and 4k show up in the search...

georgep7:
just a humorous comment on the typo
