To the MSG Community, the team at Pond5 wanted to say a simple hello and let everyone know that we will be participating in any forums where our input (specifics with regard to our marketplace) might be deemed helpful.  Hope this provides more transparency into our side of the world...

If you have any questions/suggestions, feel free to shoot me a personal message or email our customer service team at
[email protected] / tweet us @pond5.

For now, if you would like to keep this an open thread, we would love to ask the following questions and see what comes of them:
- What low maintenance changes would you make to the stock media marketplace (or more specifically, to our site)?
- What big ideas, if executed properly, would spur the growth of the microstock industry?
- How can we (at Pond5) better serve the artist community (incl. those that provide stock footage and are involved in the world of music production and 3D)?

Thanks again, and we look forward to being a part of this great community.  Cheers.

Nice to have you here.  I think Pond5 is one of the best sites, I've really enjoyed seeing my amateur videos sell.

I think the first thing Pond5 should do is let us upload all our still portfolios and replace the ones you have from 123rf.  I hope that happens soon.

I would like to see a premium exclusive collection.  Uploading clips to multiple sites takes a lot of time.  If you could give us some incentives to upload some exclusively, it would be great.  I also think a good exclusive collection attracts buyers.

Not sure I can help much on that one.  I think paying the contributors a good commission, like you're already doing, keeps us motivated.  Finding new markets to sell and encouraging more people to buy media will bring growth but I'm sure you're already doing that.

Pledge to keep a good commission.  There's a lot of uncertainty at the moment with big sites cutting commissions so much that it might make microstock unsustainable for us.  Make it difficult for people to use our media without the correct license and pursue those that use it illegally.

Accept Photoshop .psd files for illustrations (in addtion to .jpg, .eps, .ai, .png). That would be very interesting for me.
