Hi there

I've recently made the jump to adding videos into my stock work.

When I upload stuff to Pond5 it auto-fills in a price of $1. Now, I know you can set your own price but what happens if you tick the Set The Price For Me option? Do they just take that $1 that was auto-filled in or do they overwrite it with what they think is right?

I tried it once and I think it stuck at the $1, so I altered it quick.  Now I always set my own price.  It's probably not good to let a reviewer set the price even if it did work.  That happened for stills with another site I used and I was amazed how they seemed to price things the opposite of how I would of done it.

Thanks for the heads up!

Curiosity, what sort of price do you set for a RF video?

What sort of prices are you all selling the pics for on there?  I have signed up to Pond5 but don't want to charge too cheap - I want to set the prices at about the same as the other stock agencies.

I shoot standard-definition, and most of my clips are about 15 seconds in length.  I price them at $29.  When I make the transition to high-def, I'll price them at $49.  I hope that gives you a frame of reference (bad pun intended because I'm humoursly challenged!)   :P

Thanks.  I'm not submitting video - I'm just submitting images.  I've proceed the images at $10 :-)

I price mine at $15 for the largest size, and the system automatically prices the smaller sizes proportionately.

just notice there is no Enhance license option.. so does it mean the common license in pond5 can equal to other EL license?

"Pond5 grants Licensee a non-exclusive worldwide perpetual right to use, display, modify, publish and create Works for Distribution incorporating Licensed Content in any and all media an unlimited number of times."

Very broad terms...  creates a reason to set prices on the high side.

Thanks, I was tempted to sign up, but that basically means you are giving away copyright. They can alter the image and give it away for free to 7 billion people.

If you read the license agreement restrictions, you'll see that this is not the case.

So far my experience with Pond5, is very positive. They work more like a trad-agency, set your own pricing and I do the same as CS, 15 dollars and it works fine. Its also nice to see dollars coming in and not cents.
They are very established in the video market and have been for many years so they are well known indeed.
Im very happy with them.

As a stand-alone sentence it may seems like very vague language however if you read the entire license (http://www.pond5.com/legal/license), you will see quite a few 3) Restrictions on Use. To avoid misconception as you describe above, there is the (d.) paragraph of Restrictions of Use. Giving away copyright is certainly not the case. Artist always retains the copyright and has the right to take media file offline at any time, without a notice.

Thanks for dropping by and adding your thoughts, it's great to see an agency active in the forums.

Do Pond5 have any intention of adding an Extended License option, to allow for some of the restrictions at any point? Also, perhaps setting a usage limit (e.g.: 250,000 like most of the other agencies) would bring the agreement into line with the rest of the industry a little more.

Thanks again for your input.

Thanks, I started submitting. Over 200 photos uploaded. Waiting for some answers from support because the editing is quite complicated.

Pond5 is thinking of adding an extended license however it is not in our project dev queue within next half a year.
