just got this. i guess that means Adobe goes video, bye bye shutterstock

Were reaching out with some very exciting news.
As part of our previously announced Global Partner Program, Pond5 has officially signed eight hand-selected distribution partners, including a new partnership with Adobe, the industry-leader in creative desktop and mobile apps.
Adobe is the world leader in creative media-production and editing software, including Photoshop and Premiere Pro, so were thrilled to be partnering with them and creating tons of new opportunities for you, our Artists!

What do these partnerships mean for you?
One upload, multiple benefits
By participating in the Global Partner Program, Pond5 Artists will receive royalties comparable to selling directly through our partners, while also benefiting from unique sales and marketing opportunities, premium pricing, and the ability to earn additional royalties from enhanced license sales all through one upload to Pond5. As always, Pond5 artists will receive 50 percent of all revenue Pond5 generates from these collaborations.

Exposure to new buyers
The Global Partner Program provides access to local expertise in markets around the world, allowing our Artists to reach exponentially more potential buyers than ever before. Now, with one upload to Pond5, your content can also be seamlessly downloaded by a whole new market of creators, including everyone using Adobe Creative Cloud.

What do you have to do?
If you are opted-in to our Global Partner Program, there is nothing additional you need to do to take advantage of this partnership. If you already contribute content to Adobe Stock or one of our other resellers, no action is needed, as they will be working to prevent duplication on their sites.
For more information about the Global Partner Program, please review the FAQ, and contact [email protected] with any additional questions.

All the best,
The Pond5 Team

I had this earlier too but I don't get it? Adobe already has a large video collection. Why would they want to get less money selling via pond5 and vise-versa?

i think p5 probably has more and better videos

Adobe might want to be the next Gettyimages, i.e. a marketplace that offers literally everything in addition to their own media.

I mean that is why people go to Getty, because it is a one stop shop.

Sure would like to know exactly who the "eight hand-selected distribution partners" are?

You don't get to know that.

Pond5 Artists will receive royalties comparable to selling directly through our partners + As always, Pond5 artists will receive 50 percent of all revenue Pond5 generates from these collaborations =

75 credits for an HD sale on Fotolia results in 24 credits to the author. If our earnings will be comparable to what we'd get selling directly through Adobe, then we'll still get 24 credits for a sale. And if we'll always receive 50 percent of all revenue, then the deal must be that Pond5 get 48 credits per sale (out of which they pay us the 24), and Adobe keep the remaining 27 credits.

That could be wrong, but based on the two statements above, it seems pretty likely.

I opted out.  But I'm curious if pond5 editorial content will find it's way to Adobe/Fotolia?  Also curious if duplicate content will be filtered.

Would be nice to know more details. Looks like something to opt out of on first glance though.

If you look at the FAQ, they make it clear that the prices are negotiated for each deal, so I don't think you can assume anything about what the price will be to the buyer or what Pond5 will collect.

"Deals that are part of the Global Partner Program will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.  These partners tend to have high-volume demands and require custom indemnification and standardized pricing to manage their budgets. We will likely pool content within a similar price range for buyers based on their budgets, commitments, and licensing needs. Deals sold as part of this program may also include extended licenses, which will generate additional revenue for participating artists."

I have very little content on Pond5 - they don't really do well with images although it's nice to be able to upload PSDs - but I've opted out. I thought I'd already done that, but I went to check just now and I was opted in. Either I had a brain fart or they opted everyone in automatically as part of launching this new initiative. For the most part, I'm not happy with increasing the number of people who are getting a cut of what a buyer pays and thus reducing my share. Especially when there's no clear win in terms of access to a great, high volume marketplace that I can't get into on my own.

I'm already with Adobe (although no PSD templates there of course) so without knowing who else they've done deals with, I can't see any reason to opt in.

The truth is that if an artist already submit to adobe/fotolia he will share the commission with pond5 50% plus with adobe that will keep its commission too...=less earning...

I can compare 10 and 1, that doesn't mean that 1 is a good deal for me.

I wish they had some real info - I would be for it if it was the only way to sell high $ sales on Adobe - otherwise every time I only get a cut of a cut it hurts. So if Adobe sells for 100$ and P5 get 30$ and I get 15 - it is like selling on Istock.

If we upload to P5 first and then to Adobe or FT does that mean that they will remove the P5 images as we upload to Adobe/FT, or does that mean they will take the P5 images and not our Adobe/FT uploads?

I wouldn't be surprised if IS puts our stuff on Getty which puts it on one of their private collections which puts it on another one each skimming up to 85% each time and we get a few cents. Thanks for the "exciting opportunity".

I've checked this with Pond5. They say that clips marked as Editorial on Pond5 will not appear in Adobe searches.

I opted out, I just don't have a good feeling about this ... I would allow certain clips but not all.

Ah, good old "exciting news" that NEVER deliver correct and complete info. After 11 years and 61 million in funding. (sigh)  ::)

p.s. Maybe they are desperate for acquisition at this point?

"royalties comparable to selling directly through our partners"

Given that my only sales so far on Adobe have been for $7 and $2, which I didn't think was possible, then this is particularly unattractive.

Like others, I have a very bad feeling about this arrangement.
