Anyone else following the recent threads on FAA about 'missing' images?  Several people have reported images that quietly disappeared - the thumbnail still shows up on the gallery, but click it and...nothing.   Forum admin has stated that they run a script that supposedly detects and deletes "corrupted" images, without notification.  No explanation of how or why they became "corrupted".  Only recourse is to upload again - if you happen to notice one is missing.

FAA forum threads on the subject have been closed.

I wasn't aware of this, but how hard would it be to send email to the artist when this occurs?  Would seem to be the least they could do...

I think that with FAA, the answer to all such "how hard could it be" questions is that it's basically 1 guy running the site.  He now has a very large database with millions of images in cloud storage (Amazon S3 I believe).   It's not like SS, where there are dozens of engineers and technical people.

IMHO, FAA is reaching the end of the road with regard to what one guy can support, and it's looking pretty dated.  Wouldn't be surprised if he sold it.

It would still be a pretty simple matter to add a couple of lines of code to the script that deletes the files that makes it find the owner's account, grab the email address and send an email with the image name/number.

If you're running a site that size, writing that script shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.
