Keywording in Fine Art America?

(1/2) > >>

PigsInSpace:
I've been adding images to Fine Art America, but can't figure out their keywording. Some of my images show up in searches, but others do not appear even if I type the full multi-word titles.

I was going to reach out to them, but wanted to check here first to see if I'm missing a box somewhere or if my keywords need to be formatted differently in FAA vs stock sites. Am I missing something?

ShadySue:
I just tested some of mine, and they showed up. However, I see that you say that some of yours show up but others don't.
I can't explain that - usually it's like Alamy inasmuch as any word from the keywords, even within phrases, can mix with any other.
That said, you mentioned the full multi-word titles. I'm not sure if titles are searchable, but possibly they are - I can't find any of my titles where the words aren't also in the keywords to check for you.
Would you like to post a few of your files which weren't findable so others can check - though in my case it will be tomorrow as it's now late here!

PigsInSpace:
Thanks Sue. I added a couple of my longer titles as multi-word keywords and those files are now showing up in the results. It's a little annoying, and I have no idea why some files were showing up fine without doing this, but it seems to have resolved the issue.

PigsInSpace:
I figured out the problem -- the word "of". When I keyword files of landmarks that include words like of/and/the in their names -- "University of PigsInSpace", I always leave those words out since Microstock sites generally limit you to 50 keywords and darn if I'm going to waste one on a conjunction, but it turns out FAA has an uber particular search engine.

The files that were showing up fine for me in searches don't have conjunctions in their names -- "PigsInSpace State University". The ones I couldn't find have of/and/the in their names -- "University of PigsInSpace". When I was using the search, I was typing the full name. Sue is right that FAA only bases search results on keywords, not titles. When I dropped "of" from my search, the files popped right up. That is SUPER particular, but at least now I know!

ouch, that's a tricky one -- and one to make a note of, for I also leave out all "stop words" for SEO reasons. Time to make an exception from that rule for their search then...?
