Title: New Blog: Amazing Zazzle
Post by: oboy on February 12, 2012, 15:57
Part of making money at Zazzle is to promote you store and to create referrals. My newest creation for this is my new blog "Amazing Zazzle" http://amazingzazzle.blogspot.com/ (http://amazingzazzle.blogspot.com/)

Please take a look. Let me know if you find any errors. Something missing? What is bad or good?

Henrik - looks good. I know that you have put a lot of products on Zazzle. How does it compare with microstock agencies now in terms of earnings? I'm assuming you have set up your blog to get a referral fee if anyone buys one of the selected products?

Zazzle income is still rising for me. I use the same images that I use for stock photography. But it takes time to create product. Much more time then creating image for microstock. But then you get more money per sale. Zazzle belongs to my top earner. I guess it is a balance of time. Sometimes you have to spend more time on the POD and then again on stock photography.

Yes the blog is an attempt to increase the affiliate/referral earnings. You can only make money with sales, not with referring a new contributor. I hope that I can see after one month if it works or not.

i've the still the sad feeling that all these POD sites, including Cafepress, DeviantArt, RedBubble, Etsy, etc are all a joke.
i mean if their mission is to sell and make profit THEY should be the ones advertising their products, instead it's left to "crowdsourcing" with obvious results.

compare it with serious marketplaces like Envato, Ebay, et al who spend millions in advertising.

there's people making 20K$/month selling commercial templates on ThemeForest for instance (hosted by Envato), that's serious business, not the clowns at Zazzle etc.

I think you underestimate Zazzle. From all the POD site Zazzle is the best ( I think ). You make 15% on a referral sale. When reading Zazzle forum, there are many that is all they do. They don't create product, just creating referral links. And they make a living with it. Not sure how they do it, but it is possible.

So in a way Zazzle does spend money on advertising, it is just a different way, and they only spend it when there is a sale. When you think about it, then that is smart from Zazzle point of view.

I agree that it is more difficult to sell on DevianArt, RedBubble, ArtisRising, ImageKind, ...
Cafepress - for what I was reading some have good results and others don't have any luck.

The one that stands out is Zazzle. You start creating products there and you will have sales. It just depends on how much afford you put into it.

The way they handle referrals is a big issue for me. It's fine that the person get a commission for having referred someone who purchased there, but they also get the volume bonus of that sale. I think this is unfair with the designer, as he gets in the end much less than the person who referred the client.

Someone could say that it take much more time and money to generate the sale then to create the product. Other outlets may spend millions of $ on advertisement and then give the supplier only little. There are many approaches to this. And when looking at all the POD, then Zazzle is doing by far the best. And in the end it counts that you do have sales.

Hi Oboy, excellent blog to promote your products!

I am on Zazzle cca for a year ad half...
Here is my store: http://www.zazzle.com/sbotas/gifts?cg=196861951357430013 (http://www.zazzle.com/sbotas/gifts?cg=196861951357430013)

So, is there any tricks to bring more customers to that store?
Also, here is still more effort than money, compared with Microstock for me ...

I never promote my stuff, no facebook no twitter, I do them and end of story.. perhaps tweeting hard would help but for sure not my dream life lol

Thank you guys!
I think that social networks mean not much for promotions of these products... I had my private site on Smugmug, I tracked stats on google analytics, for Zazzle also...
At the end, not a single sale from promotions through social networks...

Same here. I never advertise and sell a few things every month, mostly business cards, http://www.zazzle.com/asiastockimages (http://www.zazzle.com/asiastockimages)*, my store is about the same size as yours.

referrals : it's called "affiliate marketing" and used already by every microstock agency.

there are many people doing affiliate full time, mostly about herbal/medical stuff, ebooks, etc

it's unthinkable to do it on your own unless you're a succcessful spammer, these guys are able to create millions of links in a short time especially using automated spamming tools.

I can defiantly see a difference in traffic and income when promoting my store. The two networks that generate the most traffic are twitter and pinterest.
