Title: Nice earning in Zazzle
Post by: madelaide on March 18, 2010, 17:28
I've just received a email announcing a new sale in Zazzle, and it was a big order in businesscards that will give me US$25 plus a volume bonus.  This will put Zazzle ahead of many microstock sites together this year for me (BigStock+CS+CanStockPhoto+123).

I'm happy. ;D

A new sale yesterday and, compared to micros, Zazzle is my second best earner in May.

I don't have much stuff with them but i'm not satisfied with the sales.

I had three poster sales recently, one of them canceled although the product was shipped.
The other two posters sold for a total of 29.15 UK Pounds (33.6 euros) and my cut for these was just 2.66 euros!

Really low commission i think.

EDIT - I remembered that you can choose your commission when making a new product, so my fault for this.

 :)

Madelaide,

I've joined your fanclub  :)

I'm new to Zazzle and have started a store of my own and will be looking forward to my first sales there.
Best of luck to you with hopefully many more sales for you in 2011.

Here is my store link: http://www.zazzle.com/mwp1969 (http://www.zazzle.com/mwp1969)

is it any different from CafePress? I played with that one years ago, it's quite hard to make money unless you have a high traffic website that you plug your shop into, or do your own serious marketing.

I think the big different is that you don't have to pay Zazzle. It is completely free to create a store with as many products as you like. I had sales even before I started driving traffic to my store.

Personally I don't care about promo of my shop. (Well in fact I don't care about Zazzle at all - these days I spend at Zazzle appr. 2 hours a week and it's enough to become my second best earning site)...  I have about 20 "Today's Best Awards" - and I don't remember that any of the awarded (and highly visited) products would be ever sold - maybe once..  On the other hand some designs that I find... not good...   are selling well. Right keywording and finding the right category (which is sometimes very difficult at Zazzle) is more important to me than selfpromo.

Do you keyword them the same as you would for stock sites? I guess that's a stupid question but thought I'd ask anyway. I've been putting bare minimum keywords and maybe that my problem.

LOL, I forgot I have 2 t-shirts on Zazzle - made for personal use but thought I would mess with a store - and I've got 15 bucks in my account.  Darn, can't cash out until $25 but it has me entertaining the idea that I should throw some more up there!

Donding,

Your basic keywords are as for stock, but you need to add details of the product too, such as birthday card, etc.

I have been disappointed with sales on Zazzle. They are nowhere near what I had hoped, but every little helps I suppose. I have had some best of the day awards, but they didn't help sales.

In a recent newsletter, Zazzle oriented for minimal keywords, having the five most significant first and no need to include the product as one of them (I do anyway...)

I just started with zazzle but I don't understand how it works. Have uploaded images but if I want to create a product how do I get it in my store? If I open ' create a product'  with an image I don't see a link to 'put in my store' or something..Are there tutorials for sellers how to start at zazzle?

Top Right go to "My Account" and when there click on "Store" to organize content and appearance

Thanks! I have been able to create three products but they do not appear in my store. Does it take a long time or could I have done something wrong? http://www.zazzle.com/hofmeester/ (http://www.zazzle.com/hofmeester/)

It does a little time for them to show up.  If you created shoes or stamps then it takes longer since those products have a special submission process.  give it time then work on your store . . .  you need a nice banner, organize categories, etc, etc.

Until you organize specific categories all your new products will end up by default in the "New Products" folder

You will get an email when the products have been added to your store.

Even though you have no products showing yet, I have become your first "Fan"   :)

I see one product now . . . . . .  now you only need 2000 more!

Thanks for the info! It takes quite some time to make it right and I haven't figured out most of it but I will some day ;) Is having fans important for sales? Thanks anyway. I will 'fan' you as well...

Fans do absolutely nothing for sales - but there's no harm in having them ;)
Welcome to the club :D, I'm ruralfrance there (as someone kindly pointed out) - you'll find an infinite amount of useful advice in the Z forum. The main advice you need is lots of quality products, attention to detail, find a niche (there are a zillion valentine's day cards - I've got 2), have fun doing it though it's a full time occupation, did I mention pay attention to detail? Read all the stickies, I mean all, all the way through.
Once you get up to 1000 products it's easier, but I can't stress the "niche" enough. If you want to do hearts and roses you're already way outnumbered.
