Hi all,

As from another thread, I started to post at Squidoo to promote my Zazzle stuff.  We might work together writing "lenses" (pages in Squidoo jargon) on common subjects, promoting each other's work.  I plan to do that basicaly for Zazzle and other print-on-demand sites, maybe my own site in the future.

Is anyone else interested to do that?  Each of us starting a subject in Squidoo could get links to colleagues in Zazzle or whatever stores.  What do you think?

Right now I have a lens about selling Christmas cards, so if you are selling them somewhere, I can add a link in my Squidoo lens.

I had never heard of Squidoo until reading about it in one of your posts.  I'm interested but not knowledgeable.  I need more time to think about it ... study the details.

Warren,

I had found Squidoo through TinEye (some watermarked images of mine there...) so I never took any consideration about them.  Now browsing Zazzle forum, it seems a very popular tool - whether it will be valuable or not remains to be seen.

LSD72 posted a link with a very good step-by-step guide:
http://www.potpiegirl.com/special/OWM-Squidoo-Guide.pdf

I found it a bit confusing at start, but it isn't difficult.  There are many optional tools that I may explore in the future - we might even write some tutorials about this too.

Got my 3rd "Lens" up and running. I am helping out other Zazzlers by Pimping out their stuff too

http://www.squidoo.com/Awesome_Mouse_Pads

I have Google Analytics on my Zazzle Store and it shows where people are coming from to look. I am going to track and see if Squidoo actually helps drive Traffic there.

If it does...I will be Pimping out my Deviant Art Account too.

Another thing is.. I guess through Affiliate Links .. you can make money from your "Lens" too.

I have created a lens at Squidoo about my Valentine's Day products at Zazzle. If anyone has a similar subject to advertise, just send me the link.

I've never got squidoo.  Seems like all you do is write something about whatever you want and hope someone views it for the couple cents you get paid. No sense of whether or not this person knows what they are talking about.

I don't know if it's efficient, but apparently it can generate some traffic.  It's not about those cents it can generate from ads (those are going to Kiva in my case - 13c so far! :) ), but about the traffic it may generate in our products.  It is still a theory to prove, and this is my second post there so far, but this is very popular among Zazzlers.

I'm building a Squidoo page for St Patrick's Day.  If you have any collection on this theme, send me a link and I will add to my page.

Easter will be next.

My St. Patrick's Day page is online now.  I plan to add some more designs, and I have to edit my illustrations so they can work properly on dark apparel.

Again, if anyone has related items that want me to add as a link, just reply here or PM me.

Now that it has been a while..What did you find out about Squidoo Madelaide?

I left it and Zazzle alone (still up and running but not adding anything to the Zazzle Store) to do its thing. I had 13 cents sitting for a long time. With only 4 lenses, no wonder it did not help the store.

Honestly I did not put enough effort into the Lenses. I am not much of a writer. I just made a new lens..first after that same long time. Now I am trying to push the Etsy store and they have an Etsy Module on Squidoo. Now I have a goal of trying to make 20 new lenses in 3 months. Should be easily doable.

This Squidoo thing comes into play with SEO and Internet Marketing which I am trying to learn. Sort of like building backlinks. Soo much to learn though but I have time...lol.

I have the impression Squidoo lens have a very short life. The lenses I wrote - Christmas, Valentine's and St Patrick's Day - generated deveral views when I wrote them, even earned a few cents for Kiva with the ad sales, but this last season views were basically none.

I may be completely wrong, but it seems the real money behind Squidoo lenses for people at Zazzle is commission from referral links. So one makes a very specialized lens - baby shower invitations, for instance - get the best designs people offer of he picks from Zazzle himself (and there are some great designs), organize them well and work in the keywords for SEO.

What do you think about Etsy?

I have been using squidoo and I get a few zazzle referrals from there.  I have a lot of business card lenses and a lens which acts as a directory for all professional business cards here:

http://www.squidoo.com/professional-business-card-templates

Zazzle's search feature is a bit of a joke so my lenses weed out the best business cards.  They're still fairly new and need more work but I'm happy with them so far.

If anyone has any outstanding business cards you can post links to them here or contact me either here or on my zazzle store at:

http://www.zazzle.com/sunnymars

I can't guarantee that I will add your cards but if they're as good or better than what I currently have on the lenses, I'm likely to include them.

I plan to promote these lenses heavily in the future.

What do you think about Etsy?

I kind of like it. Its almost like Microstock...lol. Your a Fish in a big over-saturated ocean. You either need a very niche and wanted item or you have to know the ins and outs of marketing. Well, I am not niche so guess why I am trying to learn SEO and 'Net Marketing.

Photo Prints.. I have seen the top sellers and a few of them must be great marketers. Hardly any description and their Photos are plug-ins it seems. Kinda known as "Etsy Style". My store runs from Sewn Items to Photos and Homemade Soaps, whatever we feel like making on a certain day. Some say specialize a shop and some say it does not matter. No matter what, you have to market yourself around. Not just in Etsy but blog and get followers, Facebook Fan page, Twitter and so forth. Get all you can pointing back to your shop. This is to get Google on your side. Get your customer base and then you can ease up on marketing and go by word of mouth more. (Hint: these are tips from someone who does pretty steady business year round in a general items store on Etsy.. not me. She is a little bit of my Coach). I have a few Etsy style photos up now so we will see.

Eventually I want to do an online Gallery so learning SEO and Marketing now in preparation.

Just in case you want to see my little shop... I have a domain name forwarded for easier memory and business cards. PoseyCorner.com
