Title: Zazzle W8 BEN, please, please help
Post by: Justanotherphotographer on August 22, 2015, 05:23
As I mentioned on another thread I am having US tax withheld at the moment even though I shouldn't be. I am in the UK. No problem at all with any of the agencies with my form filling.

Is anyone prepared to upload an image of an accepted tax form so I can see what I have done wrong on the form? Obviously with all your personal info completely redacted. I am going mental trying to work out what they want. I know it is a big ask and I will be forever grateful!

I think at this stage we have no idea which ones have actually been accepted and which ones have not.
Just about every international submitter has had 30% withheld with no proper accounting page telling us why.

Thanks Wendy, at least I am not alone I guess! I just submitted again and have put a hold on future payments.

Here is how my form is filled out, in case it helps anyone else:

PartI
1. my name
2. United Kingdom
3. my address
6. my foreign tax number (as Zazzle has specifically stated they don't need your US one)
8. my DOB

PartII
9. United Kingdom
10. ...12(1)....0%....royalties....resident of United Kingdom

PartIII

Same here, tax being withheld. I guess I need to get a ITIN number from somewhere. Shouldn't be such a pain as it's only a copy of the previous tax from and I haven't moved to the USA!

That's the one thing I know can't be the problem. The guidelines for the form specifically state that a foreign tax number is okay and Zazzle has explicitly stated that is not the problem, quote:

"As of now, we are not requiring an US TIN -

In my case all process took more than 1 month. They reply slow, communication was bad. It is strange to hear from employe of such level company that they don't have a consultant there. Still all finance pages are far below standard.
I don't upload new products there, they become more and more similar to Cafe Press, only do what i need or for clients. Recently found a product which i wanted to buy, on google, but the link on image brought me to zazzle search page, where this product was not shown at all. I searched zazzle and didn't find this product, then gave up. The product was a t-shirt with very niche drawing.

The plot thickens. Apparently my problem is with section 10, but they can't tell me what it is. I guess Zazzle earnings don't count as royalties. Any ideas? Please?

Agree, Zazzle W8 BEN is a total mess. I have sent forms to other companies such as IS and SS, there have never been a problem. But Zazzle was finding problems again and again. I almost give up.  ::)

Wow, that's crazy, why are they sending you forms at all!?

I can't believe the stupid games they are playing, making us guess what to put on the form when other agencies not only help guide you but even automate the process. What a joke.
