Alamy.com / Re: Alamy and images orientation
« on: May 30, 2011, 14:58 »
I've given up with Alamy. I've never managed to pass QC - first it was 'noise', then it was 'soft due to size' now it is 'incorrect orientation'. The images were jpegs created from TIFFs saved from Nikon RAW. The images were rotated 90deg in PS. They displayed corrected and were uploaded in the correct orientation ...but not according to Alamy. Interestingly there is a forum on the Adobe website where it mentions this is a known problem with CS3. Apparently, CS3 can ignore orientation flags and Alamy use CS3. The problem was fixed in later versions.

I've better things to do than to attempt to resolve a non-existent problem simply for the miniscule chance of selling my images from amongst 24 million. No photo editor on the planet is going to bother searching that lot. They'll just take whatever comes up in the first 100 or so. Even if by some fluke of chance I did manage to sell something I'd probably get a tiny amount paid in US$ so after Alamy have taken their 60% cut and the exchange rate has kicked in (US$ to Sterling) it's simply not worth even picking up the camera....
