General Stock Discussion / Re: Welcome Back!
« on: June 14, 2025, 02:13 »
My theory is, and I know this is gonna sound bizarre, like I've gone BS crazy even, is Shutterstock are winning back customers from Adobe!

Uncertainty around the globe is currently historically high. Less people are in the mood to buy than last year.
The last cargos to reach the US before the tariffs takes effect have departed long ago, no more cargo after that.
The companies who sent them are now in wait and see mode. Even Japan still can't reach a deal about the tariffs.

https://unctad.org/news/global-economy-under-pressure-could-slow-23-signals-un-trade-and-development

This leads companies to slow down or pause projects and cut cost. I don't see SS or iS is improving.
But I see acquaintances starts doing Youtube, Tiktok, etc., to earn extra money in addition to microstock.
So no, I don't think AS is losing customers to other agencies.

Photography Equipment / Re: Stuck Polarizer Ring
« on: May 11, 2025, 03:27 »
I think pliers was how I got a filter ring off a lens I dropped. It was not so easy, but I did get it off and the lens was ok. The filter was toast - but the photos taken with a shattered filter were surprisingly good - probably wouldn't pass microstock review at the time though.

Pliers once saved my lens too (after trying a filter wrench). I was lucky that the filter is still usable.

Adobe Stock / Re: Update on Similar Refusals
« on: May 06, 2025, 20:19 »
Is this related to drop in sales - things haven't really improved for me even though I'm not getting many rejections, not uploading many photos anyway.

Or is the drop in sales just me?

Thanks

Sharp drop in sales since mid-April for me. I think it's because the tariff effects are kicking in around the world.

The issue is still the same here, which is intermittent.

Really, if you really want to make money and you have no shame and want it safe and risk-free, no consequence whatsoever.

Start by buying an unlimited download package then download all you can and reselling them.

The worst thing that can happen is just getting banned and having to re-register with new documents.

You can even pre-emptive the rights owners by reporting them first.

This is so easy and so safe compared to other activities.

Don't wait, start making money today. What a time to live.

7
Unlike iStock and Shutterstock, there is a $3 flat rate fee every time Adobe sends money to a Payoneer account. This is not a withdrawal fee. The cut happens before the money reaches the Payoneer account.

8
but why would anyone do that? Seems unusual and there's no gain, unless they were just out to cause trouble for you.

I've seen Freepik contributors complain about that quite often. Is it real? I think it's probably true. All kind of tactics are used when a platform are crowded with all kind of people from around the world and there are a lot of loopholes to exploit. I'm afraid selling photos/drawings/videos are not so much about being professional anymore.

Adobe Stock / Re: Custom License as low as $0.29 now?
« on: May 10, 2024, 14:16 »

I am not aware of any .29 royalties being distributed at this time. Check your tax withholding statistics in the insights tab to see if you are paying withholding tax on any of your downloads.

Thanks,

Mat Hayward

I checked it. The $0.29 has $0.02 withholding tax. If I remember it right, the lowest I've got before was $0.31 after the tax. So this one is the new low.

Got my first custom $0.29  :'(

Congratulations 🎉 Thats a big milestone and shows your long term commitment. I hope Adobe will have an exclusive option soon.

thank you! :)

yes an exclusive program I believe it is necessary in the future to maintain fair royalties, because it is other agencies like Istock that drive prices down, with an exclusivity program Adobe could counteract this, maintaining higher royalties for exclusive content,I hope they will choose this path.

think how lucky we are with Adobe, despite the "dramatic" scenario we experience today with microstock, with agencies trying to attract customers by lowering prices,Adobe still manages to maintain honest royalties for us contributors,it's not easy,we're lucky!  :)

Exclusive program at Adobe Stock would be great. But I'm afraid it won't happen.

As I had said before. Exclusive program is a countermeasure for underdog agencies to compete with the top dogs. And AS is surely not an underdog. No microstocker would dare to omit AS and miss a good chunk of income. Some of my images are already exclusive at AS. So why would Adobe create a redundant (exclusive) program and pay us more?

I'll be happy to be wrong.

Everyone has a Payoneer card, you dont have to withdraw money and pay in stores with this card.
You can also withdraw money from your card at a local ATM in local currency.

Are you in the US? If so, have you tried withdrawing through an ATM in another country with it?

This method has its own drawbacks.

Bad conversion rate + Payoneer $3 fee per transaction + ATM access fee (around $5-$6 per transaction) + international transfer fee.
The withdrawal limit of ATM (maximum cash per time) in each country determines the number of transactions you have to make.

13
Correct me if I'm wrong but you should be able to set up a USD account in your own bank and transfer to your own bank with no conversion that doesn't incur the 3% transactional fee.

As per the email it states is only on USD to EUR transfers

Hope what I'm saying is right and that it helps

Looks like they have updated it to fix the loophole of opening a local bank account in foreign currency to avoid the currency conversion. Now, even, for example, USD to USD will be charged 3% if the bank is not located in the US.

https://www.payoneer.com/about/pricing/

"Withdraw to Your Bank Account:

Withdraw in non-local currency

Example:
USD balance > USD bank account, bank is in EU
EUR balance > USD bank account, bank is in Hong Kong

UP TO 3% of transaction amount"

To be eligible to pay the minimum fee, your Payoneer account must be registered in the same country of your bank account.

"Example: Payoneer account registered in USA -> USD balance -> USD bank account, where the bank is in the USA"

« on: September 06, 2023, 06:27 »
I'm affected too, it seems many if not any contributors are involved

Last time this happened didn't get paid til following month.

Really? Never heard the story. So no payment until next month? It's scary...

https://www.microstockgroup.com/shutterstock-com/anyone-get-paid-from-shutterstock-yet/

But the earnings weren't added back to the balance like this time. So it was a bit different.

Anyway, looking at my balance today, it seems back to normal now.

That will be because AI can now be submitted as Photos so long as it looks like it could have been taken by a camera, and people are reporting 1 week review times in the Photos queue.

My non-AI photos take nearly 4 weeks before getting accepted. Oddly, images that don't pass their QC are rejected within about a week. It's been like this for a while now.

From what I read, AI images take much less review time and QC is virtually non-existent.

« on: July 29, 2023, 10:20 »
same here batch rejection

Tick the AI box and they will get accepted, within a few days.:P

PS. I'm just being sarcastic.

17
i'm on pace to hit level 2 for sure.  can't wait for all those dimes to turn into $.12.

Are you new? In case you've never been at other levels, it doesn't get really better at higher levels because the vast majority (55-60%) of sales are still $0.10, IME.

18
All the reasons you wrote seem to benefit serious contributors: less competition, discouraging theft, etc.

But what advantages over other agencies will an agency get from doing that? I think having less images is not it unless it is an exclusive agency. But even then, what advantages over other exclusive agencies will it get?

Bigstock.com / Re: 406 Not Acceptable at Bigstock
« on: May 12, 2023, 01:36 »
Don't know about Bigstock. But whenever I get this 406 error at Shutterstock, it means it doesn't like my IP address. Cookies clearing or resetting browser would not cut it. Only resetting my router to get new IP fixes it for me.

General - Top Sites / Re: Payoneer fees
« on: April 27, 2023, 06:58 »
But payments from SS don't have the $3 fee. I think the difference is you can request payment at anytime at AS vs you have to wait for SS to pay you.

BTW, Payoneer is introducing $29.95 annual fee in some countries if your total received payment is less than $2000 per year. If you're subjected to the fee, you will be notified through the notifications section when you log-in, no email about it.

To check which countries are affected (strangely New Zealand is listed but there are no details).

The blue bar came very late this time.

I can't help thinking that the change in currency is in exchange for giving apps away, after a long negotiation between teams.

Adobe Stock / Re: PNG files on Adobestock - Some Questions
« on: January 16, 2023, 21:03 »
The previews and the free downloadable sample of PNG versions of (raster) images look softer than JPG ones.
It is more pronounced on some images that you can see the difference even from the small previews on the web page.

This may discourage buyers.

PNG on the left, JPG on the right @300% magnification of the free small sample file (https://stock.adobe.com/th/images/white-fence-and-green-hedge-png-format/526151123, not my image).
