They know that this system will inevitably let some amount of junk through, and reject some good material, and they accept that because it's all a calculation based on time and money.
Hmmm... is this why new photos have 0 sales? In case they let junk slip through, they want the photos to prove themselves worthy of search ranking - even if they are on page 83 until they've had a sale or two?

I wouldn't be surprised at all if there is a sliding "auto accept" scale that they apply based on past history. 13 seconds? Impossible for a human to inspect 19 images image at 100% from top to bottom in 13 seconds.

I never connected the two... but with Yahoo's announcement yesterday of the biggest breach of personal data - how many people have Paypal etc. tied to their Yahoo accounts for Flickr sales? 500 million users personal info was stolen.

I will sometimes have moments of "Should I re-join ________ agency?" then threads like this come up and I have a moment of "OMG, I can't believe I considered going back to _______ agency!!!"

Boy, that's a slippery slope with copyright ownership. No one wants DT to claim ownership but if it's up for sale by Shutterbug1973 the pseudonym isn't the owner either.

I don't mind the "attach" so long as it is useful - if it links to "more of this model" I think it's beneficial. But it would also be nice to be able to link releases together through the lifespan of the model.

Wondering about releases on Graphic Leftovers. A high percentage of my port is model released, I sent a batch last night but I can't really see an option other than uploading the release but not attaching it to anything? Is that correct?
If that is the case, can I just upload my entire release library and then send my daily limit with the images?

I'm guessing they noticed it was mostly Asian women selling?

But I have to say that the scenario given earlier - a buyer searches for an image, downloads it, and composes a blog post all on his phone - seems a bit far-fetched to me.
I'm sitting here laughing because you must be my age! My tween daughter (who would not in a billion years PURCHASE a photo) shoots video, edits, posts and/or creates tutorials all the time from her phone. Trying to win a parents-of-the-year award we bought her a laptop but the only one who uses it is her brother's friend when he's here and wants to connect to the game my son is playing. Not sure if there is anything to be concerned with the iPhone gen, they don't pay for anything anyway.

One size fits all? I'm not really sold on that. It's a nice idea and makes the selling/buying experience more straight forward.
Hypothetical: what if I'm a small time blogger and want to write a post to my blog from my phone, I don't want to download a 32 mp photo to my phone. I wouldn't want to post a huge photo to my blog, and the photographer wouldn't want me to either. I happen to have Photoshop on my desktop, but it's a PIA to download, open in PS, resize, name, save. Now I have 2 copies on my computer - not to mention my hard drive is red because I had to download 70 photos today and they are all so huge these days.
I know, it's a case of "what type of customer do I want?". Of course you want the big corporations with graphic design and marketing departments and not the small time bloggers.
From my own selling experience - I have hundreds of released photos of dancers - but they are just not a huge money maker so I only upload a few here and there when I'm not so busy. So, hardly worth my time UNTIL a bump during Recital/Competition Season and Fall Registration. Even then - not a big money maker - the only L/XXL I sell are inside cheap subs so a majority of the sales are S/M. The thing about dance schools is - 95% are owned by a woman who is passionate about dance and children. She is artistic director, teacher, choreographer, social worker, front desk and marketing all rolled into one. She lives a very modest life, because there is a limit to how much you can charge, how many kids fit in a classroom, how many days in a week. Earnings fluctuate from year to year. Why do I describe her? Because every town has a dance school. Some towns you can't drive down the street and throw a rock without hitting one. I do know of a couple local schools with 1200 kids, most have 200-300 and only operate 9/10 months of the year. Those studio owners are not paying a marketing team, like cleaning the toilet - they do it themselves. Think about the age of their clients, the studio owner is slowly becoming aware of the importance of social media. They have a limited budget and can't buy anything from a $15 site when the other site charges $4 for a web-ready size and get 3 or 4 photos for the same price. Moral of the rambling story: they are not a big buyer, but there happens to be a LOT of them. You are excluding an entire niche of thousands of studio owners who buy twice a year and maybe make an attempt at social media. I mention dance because it's a genre I have small experience in. I'm certainly not the only photographer with a few dance photos so the agency might actually do pretty well twice a year from this genre. What else is seasonal like this: Obviously Christmas, but back-to-school (albeit, likely bigger budgets), little league, summer camp etc. There's a lot of little seasonal genres you may exclude with XXL pricing - how much do they add up to in the course of a year?
But - what type of buyer are you looking for? I would love to see data on who buyers actually are these days. What is the balance of corporation vs the rest of the buyers.

I pay model USD 36/hr if I've used them before and am happy with them.. USD 30 /hour if it is the first time I use them. Shoots are always 3-4 hours.
Tyler, do you pay the same in Sask vs Norway? I expect wage expectations are much higher where you are than in a small town like Swift? That said, it is definitely worth paying a good model well and continuing the relationship.

Any thoughts on rebranding? I always felt that "leftover" lowered perceived value.

I've been using it commercially for several years and Viveza for at least a decade. I paid for it, but I doubt the terms have changed.

It CAN'T be titles. I do have combinations like "dance student" and "dance class" in my keywords.
But then again (not a real titke...)... A man and a boy in matching white shirts with the American flag posing in front of the White House
"A" x 2 "white" x 2 "the" x 3. Are "a's" and "the's" our big sin?

I can't remember how they brought the Euro in. Did "the people" vote it in initially - or was it forced on them?

I can see this happening with a landmark - (I've seen dozens of interchangeable golden gate bridge shots from "that" spot) I was even at the bank and "my" photo of Niagara Falls was in their calendar. Except it had someone elses name beside it - and the boats were in different spots. That photo was so similar in colour and mood, both obviously from the same tower - it could have been taken by my camera in the same session. But a non-generic landscape photo? That can't even be an honest mistake.

You are being paid a royalty not selling goods or services. Istock and Canstock do charge Canadian Buyers GST (and PST depending on which Province they are situated). Where it gets dicey is for the small agencies that ask for an invoice - Zymmetrical comes to mind but they've been gone for years - I discussed with Keith and he didn't know the answer, but I believe I should have charged him GST when I invoiced him.

Has your bank account been verified? I seem to remember them taking a small withdrawal from my bank into my paypal acct before I could make any transfers.
And your bank is not located in a restricted country is it?

I think it is just Kim Kunkel creating the templates. I've bought templates from her before and had a couple conversations. She is one of the few Americans who has hockey templates. (I seem to remember she dabbled a bit in micro a few years ago.) (edit LEO I remember telling her about Symbiostock back in the day not sure if she tried it ) www.myphotoborders.com is another good one to buy sports templates. Sean DeMint runs this one: https://photosolutionsmarket.com/ He DOES have a vendor's mall, but I haven't looked into applying or if it's just some of his buddies work for sale on his site. He runs a facebook group I'm in and seems pretty approachable.

Sorry to get back to Trump, I'm sure you saw this yesterday, but....
"Donald Trump said Wednesday that abortions should be banned and that there "has to be some form of punishment" for women who undergo the procedure".
Public flogging perhaps? 20 lashes in Town Square?

I removed all my portfolio but one photo in May 2014. What am I to make of an e-mail from Istock TODAY that states:
"Dear Contributor,
The following file(s) were recently licensed to an iStock customer in a transaction that did not occur through the website:
4062630 4213720
We have made an adjustment to your account and added your royalty from the license(s), which totals $1.66."
The only photo on sale does not have these numbers and note the word "recently".
