I never had a big issue with rejection ... but one batch I had was rejected for focus. I checked @ 200% -- they are tack sharp with purposeful shallow depth of field. I complained and was told to resubmit saying I made corrections. I dropped the size (just in case) and re-submitted and they were rejected for focus and lighting. I then put them through some grunge filtration as a last ditch effort, noted in the name and description and they were rejected because of noise (which is intentional). I admit defeat. My biggest complaint was the supervisor telling me to resubmit with no guarantee of acceptance. Surely they could look at them at %100 and see they were sharp. Just seems to be a big waste of time for everyone. They were accepted by all other agencies.

I'm not seeing approved photos showing up in the search as well. I will contact support.

I had more or less forgotten about uploading to Alamy, but a couple good size sales this month have me perked up enough to upload more. It's the crazy upload system and the long wait to get paid that always holds me back.

I initially had a problem, but I had the wrong brand name. You need to go under profile to find it. I connected and uploaded a bunch last night and they went through fine.

Where do you see the photos that are pending review?

I have a friend who has had a house contact at Getty for years. He shoots editorial and commercial stock and does very well. Very difficult to get in now. Aside from the crazy competition, they pretty much have to recruit you. There are sports opportunities for experienced sports shooters, but everything else seems to be pretty tight. He was telling me that experienced stock shooters he knows trying to move over from other agencies were having a difficult time getting in.

+1 on all the above Lee. You guys are doing a great job. I can't remember seeing a micro startup this successful this fast.

So much history is wrapped up in street photography. Aside from iconic photos, the documenting of everyday life and people is an important historical record that I would loathe to see disappear. Many years ago as a young newspaper photographer I would be assigned to shoot homeless, soup kitchens, etc. The older photographers would call it shooting fish in a barrel. We all hated those assignments, yet they documented a side of life that otherwise would not be recorded.

I usually don't have a big problem with the reviews, but I did have a batch with shot with slightly dramatic lighting and very shallow depth of field. First half were rejected on focus, the other half on the category (they may have had a point on the category). Re-submitted downsized with category changed, and all were rejected on focus. I send an email to submissions saying they were tack sharp but with a narrow depth and they said to resubmit with no guarantee of approval. Submitted again - rejected for focus and poor lighting this time.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Making The Family Work :-)

Very nice. I have used up what little cred I had with my family a long time ago. They just stare back at me if I ask!

From my own experience of trying to shoot white backgrounds of full length people in a limited space: Don't do it! Shoot something else.  It can be done, but because of the flare and uneven background lighting, it requires a lot of post production and is probably not worth it. I'm pretty sure the world does not need many more isolations in any event, but I have often been proved wrong. Just my two cents ...

In Canada there was a big test case involving a rich guy and his horse farm, which set the precedent. You need to have the reasonable expectation of making a profit and are allowed to operate at a loss until you can achieve a profitable operation, in a reasonable amount of time(which I believe is generally accepted as three years). Ditto on your needing a new accountant. At most, they should warn you that you are in a high audit group.

I don't think you're in a high audit group unless you're making $250,000-plus. The main people they go after are doctors, lawyers, accountants, construction contractors. They really like pummel contractors, especially ones who try to pay piece pay instead of a salary or hourly wage. Like $20 for every door your install instead of $20 an hour.

The IRS is short-handed, thank God. Going after the little fish is too little reward.

And now I'll probably get audited this year even though I'm a tiny fish.

Actually, photographers are high on the audit list. Every accountant I have had has confirmed this. And yes, I have been audited.

Their response from contributor support is very good, however, I had a tech issue, where I could not connect to via FTP for two months or so. Contributor support passed it on to tech support. Never received a response from tech, even after I followed it up. I gave up after a month. Eventually the FTP started working again. Returns are pretty low for me there, so not a big worry, but I thought it was odd.

I've had the same thing happen a bunch of times to me and never figured out why. Sometimes, as well, a series will sell across a bunch different sites at the same time. Maybe has something to do with Google search, but I am otherwise stumped.

They do have staff photogs on the editorial side, but mostly contract. A bunch were laid off a few years ago, including a good friend of mine.

I use Squarespace and am happy with it. Simple and straightforward and I absolutely do not want to do any coding so it works for me. I think if you want to customize you need a more expensive package and can add/modify the code.

You can always measure the white value in Lightroom and go by the numbers. It's the best way to see if your whites are maxed out.

The amazing part to me is that they think people have the time to go back and edit and re-caption each file individually. I barely have time to keyword and upload.

The official exchange rates are never what you will get unless you are a currency trader. Every financial  institution establishes its rate lower than the official rate. None will advertise the fact. It's simply the cost of doing business.

Still waiting from early November to get my first batch in. Unsure if they are still stuck in the queue or I should re-upload. I have no access to backend so there is no way for me to check. Is anyone else in this position still?

You could buy it if you want: https://flippa.com/3449675-premium-stock-photo-site-4k-curated-images-70-photographers-268-uniques-m

They state $5 gross revenue and one of my images sold for $2.50 so I make up 50% of their entire revenue- now I feel like a VIP  :)

I made up the other 50%!
