Adobe Stock / Re: Question about your metadata workflow« on: September 08, 2018, 02:01 »
I add title, description and keywords in Bridge. And then I copy/paste the description when submitting to Adobe/Fotolia.
BTW, Bridge keeps the keyword order that I have entered after importance, so I don't have to re-order the keywords at Adobe/Fotolia. It was a trick I read somewhere in this forum. 104
General Stock Discussion / Re: Do higher resolution images sell better?« on: April 26, 2018, 11:18 »
Thanks for the answers and thoughts about it. I had tried a search before asking, but probably didn't use the right words
![]() Conclusion must be that there is no measureable increase in income with bigger files, but in theory a buyer might skip the file, if the resolution isn't high enough. Sharpness increases, and noise reduces due to the bigger sensor. Also because there is no aa filter on the 42MP sensor. And the pixel density will still be smaller than on my 24MP APS-C. The FF camera will be more flexible and a different tool, but also more expensive and bigger. And I will be able to use the full capacity of my FF lenses. I don't do stock for a living. Photography is a hobby, where I back in 2010 discovered that some of my images were sellable. So the cost of the 42PM camera will probably never be returned by increased income. But it would have been a good excuse if there was a significant increase ![]() Pricing on SS used to depend on size, but I can see that it is changed. I haven't uploaded to IS since some time in 2016, where I also deactivated my best selling images there, while I still could. So they won't get any high resolution images from me. 105
General Stock Discussion / Do higher resolution images sell better?« on: April 26, 2018, 04:12 »
I'm considering getting a 42MP FF camera, instead of the 24MP APS-C camera I have been using till now.
With a 42MP FF camera I should be able to get sharper photos with higher resolution compared to what my 24MP APS-C can deliver. I already have a couple of sharp FF lenses. But do higher resolution images sell better? Is it something that buyers look a lot at? 106

General - Stock Video / Re: What does timelapse do to shutters« on: September 09, 2017, 04:41 »
Some of the newer mirrorless cameras, as my Sony A6300, has a silent shutter option, where it's all electronic.
So I use the silent shutter when making timelapse. 108
iStockPhoto.com / Re: June statement is here« on: July 22, 2017, 02:52 »
My june is more than doubled compared to june 2016.
And considering that I de-activated my best selling images while I still could, and stopped uploading, some time in the autumn last year, It's surprising. When I look at the 2017 IS income till now, it's almost on par with the total IS income for 2016, so it has increased a lot, despite no new files, and the best selling de-activated. IS is now on second place for me, where it was FT last year. That sometimes make me consider uploading to IS again, but I just won't accept royalties as low as 2 cents. 109
Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock Contributor Portal Updates« on: May 01, 2017, 08:59 »I've just given up on uploading via the Adobe interface and gone back to Fotolia. Two issues arise from my workflow:I stick with FT too because of the keywording. Lightroom put my keywords in alphabetical order which is fine with the other agencies. I have all file names, titles, descriptions and keywords in a spreadsheed, where the keywords are arranged after importance. So when I upload to FT, I replace the title with the description, and the keywords with keywords in importance order, simply by copy/pasting from the spreadsheet. The keyword part of it I can't get to work with Adobe Stock. The comma separated keywords don't get separated. 110

It's also broken from here, but upload seems to work OK, and I haven't noticed any decline on sales.
Of course I can't see the sales on the contributor page, but the phone app is working OK. 111

I had a payout in september, and since my august was very good my balance is now negative. Probably something went wrong with the month shift yesterday. The graph at the dashboard shows correct numbers. 120

Photography Equipment / Re: Sony A6000« on: August 22, 2016, 11:58 »Jens, do you touch the noise removal slider in Lightroom at all when you shoot with ISO 100 to 400 ?My default noise reduction setting is: Luminance 25 Detail 50 Contrast 0 Color 25 Detail 50 Smoothness 50 Normally I leave the settings there. 124
Photography Equipment / Re: Sony A6000« on: August 22, 2016, 11:30 »
A6300 handles noise very well.
I have a ISO3200 photo of a bird, that was approved by SS, and the other agencies I upload to. One thing you can do to reduce noise, and make sharpness look better, is to resize. If a 6000 pixel wide photo is reduced to 3000 pixels, it looks a lot better. 125

This july is heading for the worst july for me since I started uploading to SS in 2010.
Subs look normal in numbers,- it's the OD's and SOD's that are missing. |
