Come on, people, let's talk about our own experience and allow us that too. I think each person says something because that person feels that way. If you feel different, no problem, you can say what your experience is. But it is not nice to tell others to go for a hike or get off just because you disagree. Leaf created this site so we can express our opinions without having to worry about the censorship of the sites. Let's treasure this opportunity.

My images get reviewed within 1 - 7 days. Don't know why it is so slow for you. Maybe write to the admin?

Fotolia rejection has long been a joke in this industry because they don't make sense and Fotolia doesn't care if it makes sense or not.
I hope the new managment team will look into it.

I had to delete my assignment entried after the exclusive terms expired. Like Flemish said, my assignment photos were also sold as subs only and never had any real Level 5 sales. I don't enter assignments anymore.

The point I was trying to make is this, if you have Level 2 or above images in DT, you get more money than in FT because the rank is tied up to the sales of this particular image. Besides, DT gives you more in percentage too. What ruins a good system is their sub sales which are the most I get these days. However, at least the sub sales still count as sales in ranking the image.
While in FT, your rank will go up much slower because it is tied to your entire portfolio. You get less on a per sale basis. Four sub sales are considered as one regular sale, which makes it more difficult to achieve a higher rank. Fortunately the sub sales are not as frequent as in DT.
So there are pros and cons in every site.

I would vote for Dreamstime. My Dreamstime exclusives did better than Fotolia.

If I were you, I'd first write a public comment to the Flickr user, with a copy to the Flickr admin. At the same time, keep a print copy to yourself. This way, people would know it is used without authorization, and you have the evidence to stop the illegal use.

Hi Brian,
I saw "Current month accrued royalty: USD 16.50", but there is no statement to reflect the sales of the current month. Also there is no information of the downloaded images.
Does it mean that Snap will not give us sales details? Thanks.

People are not talking about the usual slow time. Did you see that the OP has over 1000 images and have been a long time DT contributor? DT has been exceptionally slow for me too, and most sales are under $1.00. Very disappointing. sales and views are down at most of the other Big 6 , so why do you expect Dreamstime to be immuned? buyers already have a garageful of excess images that they bought with subscription. they don't need to buy too much more.

Not willing participants. The agencies have amended the agreements many times as they see fit. Most of us go along with them because of the imbalance of power.

First I wish they help improve the contributor relationships.
Second, I wish they improve the sales, and I am certain that is why they are recruited. However, I hope they build a win-win situation for everyone.

Have you noticed that even XL sales are less than $2?

Consider yourself lucky! My portfolio is twice as big as it was last year, my earning has been less than half of that. I have 4 times bigger portfolio than before a year and still same earnings...

Great insights. Thanks.
By the way, you said you'd share your experience after DT featured you. How was it?

Yes, I agree, some of the staff were helpful to me too. But I am surprised that Serban helped you become exclusive somewhere else. That is a positive attitude which should leave good feelings on both sides. Unfortunately, most of my DT sales are subs these days so I may have to consider goinge exclusive with IS someday too. Freedom, I believe I was kindly helped by Dreamstime with some account problems I had shortly after joining, long before I knew Serban.

That is great to hear that Dreamstime went out of their way to be helpful to you. Hopefully the benefits can be extended to those who do not know Serban personally.

My new photos still get views and sales. Most are subs.

If you don't have the problem, good for you. But it does not mean it didn't happen to others. If you didn't see the complaints from Alamy Pro and Forums, apparently you haven't looked long and hard enough. Most of my sales from April and onwards have not been paid by the buyers. the biggest issue I have with Alamy is unreported sales and sometimes very delayed payment system. I hope they will make the buyers pay at the time of sales, not a few months later.
Unreported sales? this is a big issue if this is with bad intention... you are very luckie to discover it... About the delayed payment, when I was working with traditional film stock agency they report the sales only when they was payed from customer and it was sometime 180 days after the publication....this is the editorial world....
They do a lot to track down unreported sales. I don't see it as a big problem. I have looked in their forums and the alamy pro forums and there aren't many complaints.

Alamy QC standards have certainly changed. It's nothing wrong to be high standard but it also runs into the danger of having the "plastic" images and prevent true editorial shots from getting in. Ironically being an editorial agency, it has moved towards the direction of micro stocks, with the emphasis on RF and so on. However it is their problem.

Your first and third images are artistic, the dog is ok. I saw small amount of color fringes on all three.
However the market is very saturated, so you need to find some images with the WOW effect in your next application. My 1 cent. Wish you better luck next time.

Perhaps you guys can write to IRS or a US accountant to ask if foreigner freelance photographers should be subject to the US withholding tax. If the answer is no, then send it to SS.

Non-exclusives can only submit three.

Yep, apparently you are happy with 30 cents for any size. Not me. One can always re-upload the bigger files when the future arrives.
How true. And what fun reuploading 4 or 5k images
Not to mention trying to get back customers that you lost because they downloaded uprezzed copies of your images and were unhappy with the quality.

One can always re-upload the bigger files when the future arrives. There are definitely two schools of thought on this. I can understand the argument for downsizing. Subscription buyers are getting a great deal for their money and there is a good case to be made for wanting to limit that.
OTOH, as I see it the extra work involved in downsizing images and uploading separate versions of the same file to different sites is an added PITA that has no concrete benefit to it.
A number of the sites will uprez anyway and the quality of file customers get will be lousy. I believe that giving the customers the best quality image I can will provide incentive to download my work again in the future.
Icefront makes a great point about size needs and demands changing in the future.
