I am waiting for Jo Ann Snover's analysis!
Whole bunch of tweets this morning. I'll write something more detailed once I can look at the earnings call transcript later https://twitter.com/joannsnover/status/1288148695557402625That's a highlight of how they've benefitted from slashing royalties in just one month of the quarter. Their new investor focused "microsite" is a smoke & mirrors exercise - lots of pretty charts and ways to cast lower revenue as growth... http://content.shutterstock.com/investor-report/index.htmlThere are tweets about some of their claims there, particularly this idea of selling data "insights" https://twitter.com/joannsnover/status/1288134604705001473All ways to make money on something they don't have to pay royalties on. Enterprise continues to shrink but that's spun into some continuing "realignment" blah, blah, blah...

My goal is to keep Josephine motivated to continue posting pointless needling topics.

I have been monitoring content totals and looking at new uploads at Shutterstock, and on Saturday noticed that the totals were the same late in the day as on Saturday morning. No updates Sunday or Monday morning. There was a post Monday in the Shutterstock forums: "Approved content is taking longer than usual to be published. We expect everything to be back to normal by end of business (New York time) tomorrow."https://forums.submit.shutterstock.com/topic/100692-accepted-content-not-being-added-to-port/?do=findComment&comment=1858455From Saturday morning through Tuesday afternoon is a very, very long outage and it makes me wonder if they're making changes (rather than fixing bugs). They disabled my account so I couldn't do anything even if I was inclined to, but possibly now might be a good time to grab anything you've a mind to in case it's no longer there after the changes. Or this is just a very long bug fix and I'm concerned over nothing

Smarts has nothing to do with it.
Those of us who have been part of previous contributor/co-op agencies, as well as many other agencies now long gone, have the scar tissue to understand what the OP does not.
He can develop his own scar tissue if he thinks past experience doesn't apply to him, doesn't apply any more, doesn't apply on Tuesdays - pick any reason.
It's hard and complicated to build and run such a site, and that's without figuring out how to find, attract and keep buyers.
There's that lovely quote about those who are ignorant of history that springs to mind

I am getting this message when deleting videos. Is this another threat? I could not find anything in the terms about never being allowed to upload again.
I had a quick re-read of the Contributor Terms of Service and the Submitter Guidelines and I don't see anything on that topic either (I did a search for delete and remove as well). If you click on the terms link, which document does it take you to (I can't check as my account is disabled)? I think they're discouraging deletion of content, but that's a pretty sleazy move if the terms really don't disallow uploading again

A google search yesterday for "Shutterstock" produced some ads and other stuff and then this suggestion from google about other searches.
I think it tells you a lot about the state of stock agencies that there are two which charge for content & the rest are the free sites. And one of the paid-content sites just turned on its contributors - shark infested waters...

The idiot messages about having a unique title or other "inspirational" messages were new to me at the end of May (I did a catch-up upload then). Most of them could just be ignored (but I would have liked the option to turn them off). I think there were one or two problems where they weren't happy about a description & I added some filler to shut them up, but out of 500 or so uploads, I wasn't too miffed I did fix a couple of their guesses at categories where they were crazy, but for the most part just ignored that as I don't think Categories matter. Overall, it was pretty quick and the model/property release stuff was simple to add. But to answer your question, everyone gets the annoying interface - you didn't do anything to upset them

For those continuing to upload to Shutterstock, take a look at the new uploads they're accepting. This is a screenshot from a few minutes ago of new work from one of the aggregators, WireStock.
This is by no means the only example of pages and pages of filler, the bulk of which should have been rejected. It has no sales potential and lots of it is poorly lit, poorly composed with no concept. It doesn't do the contributors any favors to accept this rubbish and buyers aren't going tolerate this for long either.
Even if you keep your old work with Shutterstock for now, for heavens sake, put your new work somewhere better.
For what it's worth, the keywording is as bad as the images. For one of the scrumpled pieces of paper we have:
abstract backdrop background blank card computer design document empty grunge grungy image letter note notebook office page paper pen rough scrapbook sheet space stained surface texture wallpaper web website white
The upside down maple leaves use the keyword flag. The plastic bottle has healthy lifestyle & fitness. The speed limit sign has car, business, automobile, green. I could go on but you get the idea.

any thoughts comments? anything? is it worth it to try them out for still image sales? Any feedback or thoughts would be appreciated.
If you have been following the drama at Shutterstock since the June 1 royalty cuts, you might have heard that a group of contributors are forming The Stock Coalition with the aim of improving deals for contributors. Pond5 has generally done well for video contributors and not much otherwise. Pond5 is interested in working with the Coalition to change that and make them strong in still images & illustrations too. Keep an eye on this if you are looking for good places for your work. It'd be nice to see some positive news for contributors (note that no one wants to see "exciting news!" from any agency ever again

...Anyway, starting from today, i'll stop uploading new content to SS...until i can afford this
This is a big act of support - thank you. I hope the new content is going to other agencies. If you want to be public about it, I'd be happy to tweet a link to one of your new items at another agency (something I've been doing for those whose new content is going elsewhere)

I am seeing an increase (it's still slow though). It's hard to tell if that's because I uploaded a huge backlog over the last weekend in May or if it's the absence of the files on Shutterstock.

He has also deleted his LinkedIn profile (yesterday I think). Can't imagine how he thinks this will play out.
lol. I think he just blocked you Jo Ann. I still see him on linkedin.
Other people mentioned him deleting his portfolio on LinkedIn too, so there's some set of those he doesn't want to see him. A bit like the toddler with hands over eyes thinking the world has disappeared just because they can't see it

Wow, he deleted his LinkedIn account? Chairman of a billion dollar company? He is really self destructing his reputation. Amazing Stan Pavlovsky effect. Disruptive indeed.(yes, I saw the youtube clip)
No, it's still there, but you can't see it if you're logged in. In a Chrome incognito window you can view his page just fine. I didn't realize all the privacy settings LinkedIn offered. He could turn off access to the non-logged-in world, but that would render the whole thing a bit pointless Same applies to his twitter account by the way (if you're blocked by him, as I am)

(Presumably blocking someone doesn't delete their posts?)
Correct. If you want to see his tweets, log out of twitter in a web browser (or bring up a Chrome Incognito window so you don't have to do that) and search for Jon Oringer. You can't interact with him, but can read. An account can hide replies - typically done when people get R rated or swear or accuse them of crimes - but you can see those after the "warning" message. If someone delete's a reply or tweet of their own, I think all the children of that thread go too

Someone in the Stock Coalition Facebook group thought these super-low video royalties were from this new partnership with Projector https://www.shutterstock.com/blog/projector-shutterstock-integrationI asked how one could know where the royalties originated - like the Facebook integration for images, it was always a guess when you saw a 38 royalty in the SOD column.

It won't help with deleted tweets (such as the take your content & go one) but for those of us who are blocked, it's easy to see his tweets (can't interact with him though)
Go to twitter.com in a Google incognito window or log out of your own twitter account. You can then browse everything & take screenshots (or whatever).
He has also deleted his LinkedIn profile (yesterday I think). Can't imagine how he thinks this will play out.
One of the Glassdoor reviews of him called him a man-child. Another said "CEO shouldn't be allowed to lead a lemonade stand. A public company is so far beyond him it's frightening."

Right they paid out $1B to contributors. Not a word about the fact that they also made billions of dollars from contributors. Or the fact that Jon became a billionaire from contributors.

For what it's worth, anyone using "slavery" language in connection with #BoycottShutterstock is hurting our overall cause
I don't care about irrelevant arguments about dictionary definitions and neither will all the people who dismiss everything you say because you're using that language where it doesn't belong.
I do care about getting our point across to buyers and other agencies, and that won't happen if you keep distracting from our message by using language that makes people walk away
Please just stop using it in connection with #BoycottShutterstock

Photos took a hit today (you'll have to scroll the chart).
Possibly as a result of Africa Studios removing their 1,162,088 photos.

Just a heads up for people who are being open about #BoycottShutterstock, a number of us had our accounts disabled today. I had not changed my profile picture or text - there was nothing that broke the terms of service If you need your income from Shutterstock, lay low and don't upload any more as your best way of supporting the boycott. I was already planning to leave sales off indefinitely, but I can't tell if this is a temper tantrum on their part or a warning shot to others
