"Me too."
Maybe we need a women's only section of this forum. Guys seriously this is insulting to all of us.

I shiver every time I read a comment like this. Step by step women get closer to using Burkhas, and worse of all, willingly.

Nothing wrong with that. Women and men should be able to wear whatever they like, as long as it is willingly.

For your information, the veil and the burkas originate from the assyrian culture. Back then, a thousand of years BC (maybe more), the veil was worn willingly by "respectful" women.

Only, slaves and prostitutes were forbiden by law to use it.
This is funny when you think that some countries, considered "civilised" have even laws against its use.

Turn it into a positive thing instead!  youre out of it! out of having constantly to produce and feed the beast with images that hardly ever see the light of day!!...out and away from the frustration of building a portfolio only to have it destroyed by the next search-change and all your work was in vain! :D

Then why do you dwell in so much negativity and why don't you do the same positive thing, by removing your port from all microstock agencies?

I can bet you will be a much happier fellow, knowing yourself shielded from all those search changes.

 ;)

Oh hi BIG zero!!  having your monthly again are you? dear oh dear! ::) ::)

As compared to your "daily"? I feel for you!

Et tu, Alamy?

Et eos!

BTW, here is my latest sale on Alamy:
I get only 30% of it, or $0.66

If they lowered prices so much, down to micro levels, I would at least expect to see micro level volume, but it's not happening.

I think everyone's number will be similar. Most are somewhere between .60 -.70.

You'll get a better variance with RPI.

Do I want more variance for some reason? Not sure if you are saying, this would show the quality of my work, which is quite variable, as are the types and subjects, or what RPI means to the group as a whole? If you mean to compare, for example, your RPI to mine, yes, I'd say that would be interesting. I'd bet yours is better.  :)
RPI on its own is totally meaningless ROI is what really matters ;-).

RPI/year makes more sense.

1007
No, this is visual arts, even if not high art, qualified people decide what is quality not the plebs. They may prefer to buy whatever they want, but they have no say in what beauty or aesthetic is... or more accurately they simply can't tell at all which is proven every single day as they just find amazing whatever they are told to, otherwise there wouldn't be a fashion rotation in just about everything. Also I have the aesthetic-attractive shots where I already say saving them 'this will be a seller' and they almost always are sellers. So actual real aesthetic does count even here, it is the more reliable part of the system.

Not exactly.
The definition of art is very liberal, these days. "Beauty is the eye of the beholder" is expressing exactly that.
The plebs (read customer) is King is another one.

Experts are analyzing what plebs want and they give them exactly that. Plebs are often those defining fashionable trends.
This is why Instagram filters (a blasphemy for traditional photographers) became mainstream, why advertisers embraced this style and why SS relaxed their rejection standards. Plebs don't care about pixel peeping quality, history of art and associated aesthetics.
They like what they see everyday on their social media feed. That became today's fashion and today's beauty, like it or not!

If you don't get that you are in the wrong business, my friend.

25/9 no sales?
System error? ::)

Got several sales on 09/25. Here is a crop from one of them:

1010
Hello,

Something very fish is going on with Shutterstock.
I encoutered strange spikes, very highs and very lows.
For example:
20-30 sales (various, new and old in different parts of the world).
Once the images in review got approved the next day 1 sale.

This happened for the 3rd time already.

30 sales, images reviewed, the next day 1 sale.

Today is the same scenario.

I really don't know what to make out of this but it seems that Shutterstock is struggling with their Search Algorithm and is deeply affecting my sales. There is no consistency anymore, just random sales (even sold few images from 8 years ago).

Anyone else seen this pattern?

Edit* : By "manipulating" I don't mean something "evil" going on. But so many strange changes in the Search Algorithm in such a short period of time makes everything hazardous.

Whatever "evil" is going on, please, please, please... bring it on!
I want more of those triple digit sales!

Matching Shutterstock subs royalties is another great move by Adobe, after granting us one year of free cloud subscription!

Nice to see those 38 cents rolling!

Next step is to match SS sales volume and, why not, take over #1 position.

Thanks for info!!!
I am selling 20% more but I can barely maintain my rank. This means that there are people ahead of me seeing also about 20% improvement.

Just got a nice bunch of end of August sales, marked as "500px Licensing", ranging from $3 to $32. All these must be coming through Getty.

It is! the whole market is a flea-market only some fleas are more expensive then others like the RM-flea! yeah we're burning black candles in the Q cult, didnt you know! :P

Good news, Derek!

Your idol and chief conspiracy theorist, grand master of the "Q"Anon cult, has announced a big campaign against "rigged search results"

https://youtu.be/Jaozo0vfcsw

Lol.

It sucks to suck, indeed, both politically and on selling photos!

"Well Jon told me to keep quiet while we were having lunch with Donald and Vladimir"

Now I am wondering what they had for lunch?

A bucket of KFC and some coke, what else?
Maybe a BigMac for desert. ;D

Jokes apart! well DT for one have admitted they want a " fair" game giving new contributors a fair chance to earn money!....how do you think they mastermind that? if not by some sort of capping??  taking from the rich to give to the poor thingy you know or pushing newbies right up front in the search and thereby pushing down some established!

Either way its a form of capping no matter how you look upon it!

This is how the capping history has been written.

something went wrong with the text here?

I don't know what went wrong with your quote, but I know what went wrong with your logic: this is not a DreamsTime thread, but a Shutterstock thread.

Major difference, don't you think? One is very successful, the other one is struggling hard to compete. Don't you wonder why*?

*Hint: keep wondering why free market economies have always outperformed socialist economies, based on wealth redistribution.

Well DT was just an example of that agencies can gear the search the direction they want to!  and NO I'm not wondering why. I know the people at DT very, very well and they are not trying to compete with SS, they run their own race so to speak.

Trying to compete with SS nowadays means you have to accept every tom, dick, harry with a smartphone into the agency just to fill up with gazillions of files and just for the sake of it, nothing else!...few years back it was an achievement to get into SS, people had to prove themselves. Today? haha! just look at it like a giant Flea-market!

Their own race? On a different planet, or what?
In case you didn't realise it yet: they are competing for the same customers and they are racing against SS & Co, since inception.

Reality is that SS is very succesful at it, while DT, with their fair share wealth re-distribution socialistic strategy is struggling, big time, to stay afloat.

If by any chance, you really know them, it doeasn't play in their advantage.

Besides, it is the other way around, DT has always accepted everything, no question asked, while SS has relaxed their acceptance criteria much recently. If SS is a flea-market, then the whole market si a flea-market.
Better accept it and move on, instead of ranting non-stop about it with your Q cult worshipers  :P

What really puzzles me though is for such a successful person you still sell on a site whose owner you despise.

What puzzles me is, though such a "successful" person (allegedly making $200,000/year from his other job), he is spending so much time, on this forum, ranting about his SS pocket change, (maybe what, best case, max 4-5K/year? probably less) fueling various capping conspiracy theories.

Oh dear, here we go again.........

Pass the popcorn someone  ::)

Dont bother I give up fighting noobs and rookies makes no sense. Let them have their likes and shares in a forum, who cares. These sort of people are never satisfied, they start a thread like " how was your July"...if you tell them good, they call you a lier, if you tell them bad they call you a lier, hahaha!....and this particular twatt iscalling everybody liers.

save the popcorn get some beer instead ;D ;D

For the record:
1. I'm not from Ukraine.
2. I'm not a "twatt"  ::). That makes you a misogynist, on this forum, not just a xenophobe.
3. I didn't call you a liar, let alone everybody. I really believe you when you say that your sales have tanked, big time. You told me and I agreed that we are in different leagues. This is consensus, not a lie.
4. If you are on micro since 2005, it's so sad to admit that a "noob" or a "rookie" (see point 5.) is doing much better than you. You might have missed the memo, "noobs" and "rookies" (see point 5.) got, meanwhile.
5. I'm not a "noob", nor a "rookie" ;)

I sometimes wonder if I am selling to a different SS than the rest of you whiners...?

1) I DO get rejections of submissions. Not a lot, but then I don't put up a lot of junk either.  My last batch of 126 images had 9 rejections today (all for "main subject not in focus" or "noise" -- a couple were a bit crunchy...).

2) I DO get sales on new images.  I uploaded a batch of Namibia photos last week of lions, elephants, and the like.  I had 21 sold from that batch just in the last 2 days.

3) My sales DO drop every summer. August is always bad for me. But then it roars back in September and is good the rest of the year.

4) I DO sell most of my portfolio.  Two months ago, I had 2500 images in my portfolio. According to MicroStokr Pro, 1729 of those images have had sales.  (I added another 1000+ in the last 2 months, as I went back and added stuff I had overlooked in my older stuff on my disk -- and yes, those are starting to sell too)

Maybe you know something we dont??? ;D ;D

Yep, he knows what sells and you don't. As simple as that!  :P

If it helps, here are my answers to the above points:
1. I DON'T
2. I DO
3. Not really
4. I DO (~86%)

Wow mate!!  got to hand it to you! youre in a different league to the rest of us ::)  youre not from Ukraine or Moldova by any chance are you?

You little cute xenophobe, you!  :-*
No, I'm not from Moldova, nor Ukraine, nor from any of those countries you constantly belittle in this forum.

I am obviously in the same league as mindstorm and many others. A league you can only dream about.  :P

 ;)

No you are from Ukraine, so what I've been there and its a nice country and I dont understand why you put it down?? I joined SS in 2005, long before you and that says it all!
Youre league is ONLY micro-stock and that also says it all!
I know who you are behind that pseudo and you know who I am.

If you are doing so well in micro-stock! fine! but when people start dodging their origin, their countries well that makes me suspiscious. tsk, tsk!

Do you even know what this forum is about, let alone this topic? Check the URL: It says microstockgroup.com. Please check the topic: it is just about SS.

So yes, I am clearly doing much better than you on micro. My suspicion is that I'm doing much better than you overall, but we can never know that, can we?

PS. If you think that I'm dodging my country when you claim that I'm from Moldova or Ukraine, you are clearly mistaken. Just for the record, since I guess I already mentioned it on this forum: I am from USA. Can you believe it? tsk, tsk, tsk...

its another pay cut, you'll get 50% of whatever getty pays 500px. if they dont increase the price, you are looking at a 50% pay cut, maybe even more.

If I'll continue to be paid like they just did, who cares? It's dozens of times better than what I get from IS for the same stuff, maybe even thousands of times more that those shameful 2cents/dl. Remember those?

What I got is similar with what I get from Alamy. Are you saying Alamy is no good?
