Also what is a realistic number for possible buyers out there 100K?
Possible buyers worldwide for stock photos? I would say in the millions. 90-95% of all businesses + more and more regular people.

They all looked much better than a GH4 4k clips
I find that very hard to believe. In fact, the word impossible comes to mind (if by better you mean detail). More dynamic range, maybe, but there's not a chance upscaled FS7 HD is sharper than GH4 4k. An upscaled 1920x1080 image from a full-frame DSLR of your choice does not come close to GH4 4k.

Yes. All of them. Paying for Google ads will not result in earning more money since the ads will be too expensive. Forget about it. You're competing against Shutterstock for those keywords.

My personal point of view is that the conversion in black and white from a color image is an artistic process and should be the personal choice of the author.
This is very true. It's not as simple as clicking the B&W button. It can be done in so many ways, emphasizing different parts of the image and the results can be two completely different images. That said, I guess microstock might not be best the place for it.

Yes, sometimes even tripod clips. It doesn't take much wind to introduce shake at 600-1200 mm.
It depends on the clip of course, whether it needs or not. If you walk with a stabilized lens you will still need to stabilize more in post.

In nature documentaries and TV shows you see lots of shaky footage, but the stock sites tend to want perfectly stable clips.

Buyers typically want certain content, not necessarily a certain codec.
But if you want an answer: Apple ProRes is a professional standard.

@increasingdifficulty I guess what you say makes some sense, although I still think it's wierd that there's a difference between windows media and VLC player.
Browsers also use different color profiles. Something might not even look the same in Safari and Chrome. It's annoying, yes, but just pick something and go with it.

So, I'm in a dilemma. When I edit video (basics: brightness, saturation, contrast), save it and then check how it looks video appears different if I watch it in different software.
For example, with VLC player video looks less saturated and contrast than with windows media player. So I went and checked previews of some videos that I uploaded to pond5 an FT and they look more like as in VLC player (less saturated, etc...). Then I did another test, put my videos on USB and view them on TV and they look way too much over-saturated and contrast.
So, which one is like, real thing? I don't want to over do saturations and other stuff....
Well, there is no "real thing". You always have to balance it so it looks good on most systems. Players and monitors/TVs use different gamma settings. It's just like audio production - you try to make it work well enough on most systems (iPod earbuds, cars, laptop speakers, expensive HiFi speakers etc.). It will never sound the same on two different systems. The good thing is that when people buy video clips they will usually be edited by a professional (with a calibrated monitor). If it's going to TV they will use "broadcast safe" colors. If it's just going to YouTube it doesn't matter as much. A lot of people will be watching on MacBooks or iPhones/iPads/Galaxys so you might want to see how it looks on those. Most TVs will add saturation and contrast, but there are usually settings for that. You're probably using the "Vivid" setting or something.

I did a little test and descriptions seem to be picked up by Google, but not by Fotolia's internal search engine. At least not complete descriptions. It's possible that they only include the first 4-5 words. Definitely not the entire description.
You'd have to be very exact in the search on Google however to have any chance of finding your clip/image.

stockmarketer - nonsense, if you sell on average 15 images per day and then all of a sudden 0 images, then something has changed. Doesnt matter if you go from 100 to 0 or from 15 to 0.
Of course it matters. 1,000 to 0 is something to be concerned about. 15 to 0 happens.

The way they work is that they buy the rights for a one-time fee to sell on the subscription part of the site.
Then there's the marketplace, which has higher prices and you get all the royalties.
Hard to say how the DP deal will work, but most likely they will put those images in the marketplace.
By the way, I can't find where you opt in or out for things like this, where is that?

If you test the search with exact description searches you will see that images/clips are not being found. It's not being used.
Just pick any phrase with at least one word that's not also in the keywords. You will not find it.
If anything is being used, only 5 words or so. Will have to test.

The Fotolia search doesn't include descriptions.
Even if it is like this, I think that the titles/descriptions are indexed by search engines.
Do you mean indexed by Google? That is entirely possible, yes. But inside Fotolia/Adobe they aren't used.

Yes, but my "title" data is more specific to the images I upload than the "description", so that's what I want on the page.
Well, if you want title data in the description field I guess you either write a script that switches the fields on multiple images before upload (quickest option) or you do it manually.

What does this sentence mean? People aren't automatically rich because they live in the Maldives. And if they were, they wouldn't try to make future plans involving a potential income of $1-2,000...

Any tips? Fill in the fields manually from a text document you keep with each image.
Automated metadata is one of the reasons you will soon see 1 billion images and not sell anything.
It doesn't take many seconds per image, especially on a fast site like Shutterstock.

The moment they started prohibiting contributors to use certain competitors is the moment they lost their business.
You need to be the strongest player in the market by far for that decision to be anything but crazy.
