What's your USP?  I.e., Why would a buyer care what you are doing?

1052
It's how much you make that's relevant, not the effort.

Inactive musicians with millions in royalties can't just claim it as a hobby unfortunately...

Actually, if you're not active, "royalties" do not get taxed as "income".

What are the thousand images of?

1054
There's no "non exclusive" when it comes to Getty.

That's what the agencies want, that's what they get.  I don't upload aRGB either for photos.  I've never had the sense anyone really cared.

My 4K clips are all less than 100MB.  Doesn't take long to upload.

That's impossible especially in ProRes

Well, I guess you should state that initially.  These are all h264.

Ok so I signed up and have been sent a couple of tasks, doing a shoot for Absolut vodka for them this weekend, and have put myself forward for a Listerine GIF, not created a GIF before but it looks easy, I guess.

Are you actually "doing a shoot for Absolut", or are you one of many doing a spec shoot that includes Absolut?

I spend too much time answering polls.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Is iStock worth it?
« on: March 23, 2017, 18:25 »
I've been reading through lots of iStock posts and have come to the consensus that most people are furious with iStock's new flat (and low) royalty rates. I'm a newbie to the stock world and am completely and amateur, I just upload as a hobby and enjoy the extra cash on the side when it comes. I've uploaded most of my collection to iStock, but stopped uploading after the site went down at the end of last year. I haven't uploaded since, but I'm thinking of starting up again now that I'm able to see my earnings. I'm not thrilled with the 15% rate but I'm not making too much less than I am on other sites, and the volume I'm selling has gotten me, at least over the past few months, a balance I'm happy with. Should I start uploading again, or should I keep holding out? I'm fine with the amount of money I'm making, but I don't want to be on the wrong side of the battle for decent royalty rates.

You answered your own question.

Seriously, what are you making? $20 a month? $30?  Drop it now while it's still insignificant and then you won't miss it.

Well the link to the demo is on the contributor page, so I assumed it would be of some use.

After a few attempts at imageBrief, I realized it wasn't worth the effort, as did pretty much everyone here.  Briefs don't close, clients go in a completely different direction despite detailed initial request, etc.

Was it actually a public place, or a private place that allows the public?  Either way, I certainly wouldn't let anyone touch my camera, or card.

1065
Not enough details, and I'm not giving my info to see a demo video.  Sounds like imageBrief though.  I don't see anything that doesn't say they don't give the brief to a hundred people.  Then they "curate" it.

I posted on Jon's FB feed, and he said "We are working on it.".  So, I guess it isn't going unnoticed.

Provide a link.

Nope.  1/3 to a 1/2 of last year on SS.

"I got so frustrated by the lack of authentic, diverse imagery available."

Try Blend.  That's sort of their focus.

Take a look at

I am bit wary of uploading all my details to a site I don't know.

Right?  Hey, anyone want to send me their file with their personal info and sales data?

Well, it's unlikely you'll see a bump because X image can't be found on IS and they go looking for it.  But you'll sleep a lot better at night :)

1075
Not really.  I've sold three images in 8 months.
