I have 217 files left, it took me hour to delete 10-20 of them yesterday. The system updates very slowly.
I'll make a tutorial for you on how to install the script.. just give me a few minutes

I've removed a few posts and modified one. In response to some of the posts that were removed/modified This is the newbie area so anyone who feels they are "above" helping out someone else, or are tempting to add sarcasm to underline how much more you know than them, please keep your comments to yourself. For reference, here is a wiki page with acronyms. I've also added a couple that Luis just explained http://www.microstockgroup.com/wiki/index.php?title=Microstock_Acronyms

Perhaps it would be better if your post came across as more of a question.... something like
"How could this image be improved' and put it in the critique section. or, start thread asking people if they revisit their best sellers or if they simple try to create something new.
Remember to give the thread a good descriptive subject. You did ask a few questions in your first post but the subject of the thread is about how well your image is selling - it is a statement. If you are asking a question in your first post, the subject of the thread should reflect that question.
Also, I'm not sure if you meant to link or show your image and forgot or it didn't work - but if you ask questions about a specific image, it is good to link or show the image so we can see what is being discussed.
I'll lock this thread for now and you can restart the thread as you see fit (as per the suggestions above).

Here is a pretty novice tutorial I just did explaining how to swap out a background in a photo. Yes, I 'cheated' and used an easy to isolate image but any image is possible with the same technique - it just takes more fiddling if your background is busy and/or the same color of what you are trying to isolate.
If you have a better way or suggestions for isolating the subject I'm happy to hear them.

As apparently this is not really turning out as a source of who actually got in (so far) - maybe someone can post if they heard of anyone getting in?
There is a good number of microstockgroup members who are accepted but I think most people are keeping a tight lip. Some people don't want it announced they are a member (lots of exclusives there) and the general limited published info on the site also keeps people tight lipped (for now). Wait until March 25 and there will probably be a few more people who announce they are in.

Apparently there are some countries that don't recognize electronic signatures so you should check that before you travel. I think China is one.
Yeah, iStock says you cannot use a digital release from china

My fee was $7.34 on a $160 payment.
They are obviously using a different method of payment than other sites like Dreamstime, Fotolia and Shutterstock as those sites don't have fees.

I know there have been a few discussion in the past but things change and progress and I also wanted to set up a poll. In the past I've thought that I needed / wanted a paper release but have been wondering lately if a digital release woudn't be so bad. You could still print out the digital release and it would be signed by the model.. it just wouldn't have ink from a pen on it. Banks and post office's use a digital signature - it must be legally binding. Thoughts? If you are using a digital release, which one are you using? other threads on the subject ---------------- Thread announcing iStock now accepts digital releases

Thanks for tracking all of this. Will you eventually put Istock exclusive on the chart as well? Would be interesting to see.
I don't know that I will. Adding them to the graph would just reduce the size of the other lines and make it hard to read. It would also add some confusion as it isn't totally self explanatory that you'd need to add up all the other sites to figure out the correct comparison for an istock exclusive. If anything, I'd add it to a separate chart..

If you look at the top of the site under Polls you'll see the option to 'submit vote' .. to submit your earnings amounts for last month and 'history graph' .. showing you the ranking history of the various sites - the current rank is what is showing on the sidebar on the right.
I had it set to 7 months of history previously but have increased it now to 12 months.
I think we can see some definite trends. Shutterstock is going up, iStock is going down and DepositPhotos is bouncing like a yo-yo

The sites on the sidebar to the right are listed in order of the amount they make people (on average) each month. A good plan could be to start at the top and add sites moving downwards until you feel you have enough. If your portfolio is under 1000 images it may not be worth your effort adding many lower earning sites. Of course, it all depends on how much your time is worth and how easy it is to upload to a given site.

I'd like to see all sites handle their partners like Yaymicro do. They have a page with them all listed and we can opt out of any of them.
Wouldn't it make sense to have a page like that for Pond5 and Pixmac? I've already sent a few emails to Pond5 in the past and they've removed duplicates but all of us emailing and several 3rd party sites being removed looks like a big admin mess compared to a simple form that makes it easy for everyone to opt out of sites that they already submit to.
This is a big deal for me and I hope Pond5/Pixmac take it seriously. Never understood why a site like Yaymicro can get it right and other sites make it much more complicated.
Agreed. YAYmicro is a great example of how to deal with affiliates transparently and effectively. All affiliate agencies are listed with the following information, along with an opt out button Webpage: suchandsuch.com Country: International Commission to photographer: XX% Commission YAY get from distributor : XX% Price level: Microstock Status: Active

Thanks for jumping in here and answering questions Tom and Zager. Congrats on the sale / purchase. By the looks of it, we are getting the best of both Pixmac and Pond5. Sounds good.

whatever income I get into my account in a given month, I count it as that month's income. .. so if PP income from Jan comes on Feb 15. I count it as feb income.

For those who have the request to see 10 images, I wonder if we should ask what sort of material is expected for review? Ask if they are reviewing technical only or if they are also critiquing subjects.
Any word on the final use of the 10 images? Are they for inspection only? If accepted, do they go on to the site? If on to the site, then there might be exclusivity problems with other sites if you are exclusive at other sites.
The images will be added to your portfolio but you can deactivate them after if you want.
