I am still not sure how it would help me with microstock? So far I was watching news feeds at Google Reader so if my favorite microstock blogger writes an article I can see it but know I am also flooded with short messages from twitter... I am thinking about removing what is tracked elsewhere... Soon we need tracker for trackers :-)

Maybe there is some truth in statements about nature shots not being FT favorite :-) For me, it seems to be mixed. I have to little downloads to judge. I got a feeling that people shots tends to get more attention there.

I guess it would also require many more hours spent on shooting, post processing, etc. Otherwise it's like wishing to win on lottery :-) Right now it's seems like too much work for too little output. It has been 1 full year in microstock and I am not sure how much more I need to change to induce bigger sales. I would say that I only would be happy with proposed deal if I could have a freedom to shoot what I want which not always is allowed in commercial photography.

Being software developer I can tell that if bug report like this show up on my plate I would dismiss it with comment "user error" :-)

I used to downsize to minimum required but having 3 different sets of images was too much hassle so I switched to 4MP for all. Currently I do 6MP for all. Until this month my camera was 8.3MP, now I got 5Dmk2. I am going to keep it 6MP just to make uploads fast.

It's weird, I'm experiencing super-fast reviews. Mostly rejections so maybe it's a reason. In last couple weeks it's same-day review.

I think SS messed up with IPTC meta data importer :-) I do not think somebody would deliberately put this info in title. It a software bug.

I upgraded from 20D to 5Dmk2 10 days ago so my experience is also very limited. It's obviously better camera so I need some calibration :-) First of all I figured out that my CPL filter need to be replaced with slim version if I want to use it with 17mm lens :-) Second I got impression that in general photos are more saturated so maybe I have to be very careful with CPL. Viewfinder is brighter, display size feels like 3x bigger, card reader is way faster. Yes, my computer is chocking with huge files so maybe if it's not needed I should use smaller RAW size.

Unless you try nobody can give assurance that you can succeed on SS. For me pictures rejected there are selling on other site or vice versa.

Unless there is an agency which is true marketplace, open and transparent to buyers and contributors we will not have knowledge about what buyers really need. Right know most agencies keep this knowledge for themselves. Some are showing which searches produces a sale but this is rather exception than rule. Betting on generic search engines is kind of like mimic our investing companies who did not want to keep historic data for risk management and created formula which was based on current market performance of credit derivatives. When everything was going up there was a correlation :-) So I guess there must be some correlation with searches on Google but is it statistically significant?

I was usually 2nd earner for me but in last 2 months it was overshadowed by DT and 123RF.

Is it known to buyer if there are getting image from exclusive or not? They probably pay same amount. For agency, I do not know if benefits exceed cost. They have to share higher percentage of sale with exclusives but on the other hand they do not control them so tight as others, they assume that somebody who sold enough pictures already know what to do. I wonder what percentage of contributors are exclusives? If not high they are low maintenance contributors for agency.

For best time to upload is when I sleep so I fire the script and go to bed :-)

At least a tripod and mirror lock-up should be used: it's impossible to judge amount of detail and noise filtering if the images aren't sharp. The test should also be done with correct color balance (if you don't intend to shoot yellow pictures all the time)
I am not saying it was very scientific test :-) Light was CF so white balance is set to fluorescent preset in LR. I just wanted to know what can I do without flash and tripod.

Congrats! It gives me some hope, I almost gave up on IS. It's my 12th month with microstock and I am still far behind you. I guess I need less nature and more studio shots ;-)

I stopped worrying about rejections. My philosophy now is: "if you like it you can take it". I will not even try to read rejection reason cause most of them seem to be totally fake. Too bad cause I might be missing some legitimate ones. This is really bad situation they are overwhelmed with volume of photos we are over saturated with huge number of rejections. Until one of the sites invents solution for this problem I do not see chance for getting better.

Since some search engines favor new images you probably need to upload some couple weeks before Xmas but it should not stop you from uploading anytime you want.

My first SLR was Praktika MTL 5B (are they still around?) then I got Canon EOS 500. Since that day I just upgrade to next Canon. So far it was EOS 3, EOS 10D, EOS 20D and now just got EOS 5Dmk2.

I never uploaded there. I sent DVD twice and both are now processed so I am just sitting and waiting until they transfer my account ;-)
