What I would Like is Like we have on SS A link to look at the work by a person posting. I Always find that very helpful. Posting words is one thing seeing someones work speaks Volumes. at least for me.https://www.shutterstock.com/g/rinder99?language=en

Also I never understood being anonymous. what are you afraid of? someone Like a possible client or buyer Finding you. I get emails constantly wanting to do business Privately. Anytime.I have a very Old client that found me here a LOOOOng time ago. They keep me very busy.

You can go to your forum profile to add usernames for the main agencies you work with. Then links to your port will become visible to others.

As for being anonymous, better ask those forum members who dared to speak up and criticize agencies (like FT or IS) only to see their ports booted and the privilege of selling through them denied.

Additionally, sharing your port while bragging about good sales will definitely inspire many to copy your ideas and/or style.
Inspiring or helping your competitors to better compete with you is no different than shooting yourself in the foot.

So, if you only come here to complain about poor sales, you can always post links to those images nobody wants, as long as you don't blame your agencies for your lack of success.
 :P

Otherwise, it is better to stay anonymous and rely only on your brains to debate arguments and filter the information shared here.

Stop blaming the agency or quality

Well the lack of quality control is largely responsible for the massive above linear increase with library size and that is the agencies decision.

They've also publicly stated they vary the algorithm and test it with randomly selected groups (its on their forum) so thats not some conspiracy theory.

No. That's a NEW conspiracy theory :-)

A/B testing. Everybody is doing it. SS would be stupid not to test what works and what not. That's not a conspiracy. It's normal practice.

Each of my video takes me over three days of work: I have to study the topic, pre plan, collect all the images, write a story board. Big work!

That's a lot of time!
What do you expect to get out of this investment?
Fame?
Because dollar wise, I doubt a few thousands YouTube views can justify the efforts you put in teaching others how to better compete with yourself.
To be honest I don't know yet.
I have reached monetisation about a month ago, but YouTube is late in analysing new accounts and might take a good while (I guess another month).
YouTube is not a short term project and I do not plan substantial gains in the first 3 years, but after a certain point it is supposed to snowball.
For the moment things are going much faster than my initial targets.
But anyway, as I said above, I would like to end up in Hollywood! :-)

Great! When you'll be famous please don't forget your (forum) friends!  :-*

A photo I uploaded late January was sold about 280 times, so far. This means ~56 times a month, for the past 5 months, only on SS.

Isn't this proof enough that new stuff sells and maybe even that it can sell rather well?

One swallow does not a summer make

Not even that huge pterodactyl?
Swallows are not worth mentioning  ;)
But I just saw a couple of them this morning, in case you really want to know.

1105
This month (June 2018), I got SoDs on 20 out 28 days, so far. Quite often, there were several SoDs per day, including 3 digits SoDs

1106
Its not fixed here.

All affected users will need to log out and then log back in to see the fix.

Log out then log in and the conspiracy goes away!  ;D

Glad its not just me.

It's fixed now.
Does it mean that the conspirators lost an argument, now?

Are you saying that this is part of the above mentioned conspiracy?

1111
"I'll take it with a grain of salt and understand that your "ups and downs" are not very significant."

Meh, you aren't hearing me. my ups and downs don't exist.

I give up. You're right. All in my head.

Are you saying that every month, you get exactly the same revenue?
You have absolutely no ups and downs?

Sorry, but this is extremely improbable. lt's even virtually impossible.

Even if so: congratulations for being able to keep your revenue very, very stable, when Herg & Co are complaining about revenue drop.

1112
I enjoy the ride, with its daily and monthly normal (therefore expected) ups and downs,

This part. This is what some others don't have. I don't even look at my earnings anymore. I know what it will be at mid-month and at month end. I don't have ups and downs month to month. No matter how much or how little I upload.

So your sales are flat. While this is very unlikely, I'll take it with a grain of salt and understand that your "ups and downs" are not very significant. Neither are mine, btw. The larger your revenue is, the less likely it is to experience large variations from one month to the next. This is because large SoDs, Els don't have the same global impact, as for someone who's only making a couple of hundreds a month. Both growth and decrease are rather slow and things might look flat based only on a short term analysis

This also means that both you and me can still keep up with our competition. Yey! Good for both of us!

Having said that, your statement is very different than what Herg is blaming his imaginary "SS controlled revenue" system for:

... people who are seeing their sales ( and livelihood) shot to pieces when they are down.

It is refreshing to see that, now, people are complaining about stable (flat) revenues, instead of complaining about revenue decrease!
 ;)

1113
Just as I thought. Im alright Jack and will knock people who are seeing their sales ( and livelihood) shot to pieces when they are down.

This may very well happen. But not because SS decided to "control" my revenue.

I enjoy the ride, with its daily and monthly normal (therefore expected) ups and downs, producing, with each photo, the best work I'm capable of, trying my best to keep offering photos customers need.
I take nothing for granted.

1114
As you seem intent on defending SS with facetious comments, I am guessing that you are having GREAT sales with them ?

Exactly!
June is already the best month of the year for me and much better than June 2017.

Absolutely no signs of revenue control, in my case :P

Maybe your conspiracy theory allows exceptions, you never know!  ;D

PS. I'm not defending SS. I'm defending logic and common sense.

1115
My SODs are about 10% of the total in the last few months including this one. About the same for the all-time earnings. And that's many years. So, I'd say not much has changed.

Yeah, my overall SOD revenue share is ~19%

So, June has pretty much the same levels as always, indeed!

1116
Hi!

A kind of strange thing has happened to me regarding "Single & other" downloads on Shutterstock and I would like to ask you if it is just me or it is happening to others as well.  :-\

I have had around 20 SOD every month until April. In March I got actually 2 different bigger SOD (40$+) sales too. But following that, in April I had 0, in May 0, and in June only 1. How could they disappear like that, from 20 to none at all? Could have been a search algorithm change? Is it a "cap"? Strange, nonetheless.

All is normal, Earth is still round  ;)

For me:

19.4% of my June revenue (so far)
13.5% of my May revenue

is coming from SoDs

Complete post processing of a sunset image, using most tools in Lightroom
https://youtu.be/rgyl_szMnuY

Pretty much a Serge Ramelli style.

Serge Ramelli's images are heavily over processed and his image processing workflow introduces tons of artifacts.

I agree.

Instead of ETTR, he tends to underexpose and push his shadows to 100%. This technique is adding tons of noise. He is regularly over-sharpening.
Moreover, recently he began publishing sloppy jobs, with obvious cloning errors, crooked horizons, etc. Probably because his survival on the web depends on regularly feeding his followers with "stuff", he is rushing to maintain his online presence, even when he has nothing meaningful to add.

And nobody has mentioned the multiple image theft sites that are springing up all over the place that steal from ss while they sit back and do nothing about it, despite it being reported.

Its gone abysmal at ss since this has happened.

Is this part of how SS is "controlling" your revenue?
I hope you posted on the wrong thread!

Something new has happened. There have been sales drops before, but nothing that resembles this. Images that are 10 years and older (just sold one with number 1,1xx,xxx) are selling better than before, while new photos don't seem to sell at all, particularly the last 6 months.

Even some editorial categories where I have little competition have died more or less completely for recent photos, categories that have sold well since I started this. It's all in the algoritms of course, and they must have changed them in a way that doesn't match previous patterns. This is happening while my Adobe/Fotolia sales is showing a healthy increase along with some of the smaller agencies. Even iStock, where I haven't uploaded in years, is improving.

Couldn't agree More. and Im doing tests. I sell the exact same amount everyday 7 days a week and basically the same 6/8 Year old Images. new stuff?. very, very Rare. so why upload. and yes adobe is coming On strong.

AS is doing better, indeed. But not by as much as some try to suggest.
I am selling about 10-15% more per week than a year ago, but my weekly rank hovers around similiar levels.
This is telling me that AS has grown by 10-15% in a year. And this means that they still have a long way ahead, before catching up with SS.

As for SS I already exceeded June 2017 and I still have a full week ahead to dig deeper in the 4 digits revenue realm.

Btw, my new stuff is selling. Did you consider that maybe your new stuff is not as good as the work you produced when you were better motivated? All this negativity is not conducive to creativity.

1122
The way stock is being devalued and oversaturated is enough to make you crazy.

This is something nobody would argue with you about. It's self evident: everybody I know is a "photographer" these days.

But this is a different issue, totally independent from the controlled revenue conspiracy, you are venting about.

1123
Well if you all want to continue being deluded into thinking SS are not controlling our visibility, you carry on burying your heads in the sand. I know what I know by patterns and others do too.

Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
....
Shine on you crazy diamond
.

1124
This is the problem with conspiracy theories doubters are either part of the conspiracy or have been paid off. So the debate will continue.

Yeah, YadaYadaYada is most likely a member of the "deep (SS) state" conspiring to control our revenues!

Well, I saw, over the past year, some revenue increase, making it the second highest in the grow of the low earners... Then, I got a careful look at the stats: they are now accepting more or less anything, so the RPI is actually extremely low, the worst of the platforms I'm on... When even 123RF is better, then it's maybe time to consider leaving the boat!
Why does RPI matter?

because it's the main KPI, the one that determines how much I gained per image, and if is it worth for me to spend time uploading pictures on the platform

A better metric is RPI/year.
