Photo Critique / Re: Advice on SS portfolio needed
« on: January 09, 2017, 10:21 »
Can you give me some advices on my portfolio: what is good and sellable and what isn't?

Well, you should know what is saleable, because it will be selling.  Most of what I see is walk around snapshots.  You're just not going to get a lot of movement on those.

General Stock Discussion / Re: My goal is this:
« on: January 09, 2017, 06:56 »
So my goal is this: Work as hard as i can, creating 'quality' contents  in several agencies for like 2 years. I mean it! Two years full of sweat.

Apparently you think "quality contents" is taking other people's work and claiming it as your own.

1103
Well, until they sell one, they're just displaying it online, which is certainly allowed.

1104
Chipotle and possibly the photographer are obviously in the wrong here, but the image apparently was not used in a defamatory way so I don't think she has grounds for much of a suit, other than to have them stop using the image.

That's the entire point of using a release.  You're not allowed to just use any image you like of a non-released person for promotional usage until you get caught and then you just have to stop.  http://www.dmlp.org/legal-guide/using-name-or-likeness-another

It just seems like a fairly unremarkable, while attractive, image of a road.  When I upload that to google image search and look at similar images, I can scroll and scroll, and scroll, and not find an end to images similar to it.  I would expect an RM image to be at least slightly unique, or hard to acquire or have considerable expense put into it.

Should this be RF? I don't think so! :)

Sure, I'd say RF.  Or were you kidding?

General - Top Sites / Re: Search Algorithms: How Do They Work?
« on: January 05, 2017, 06:56 »
So, to review, all sites' sorting algorithms are different.  Got it.

1108
I wish SS used the title field instead of the description field.  123 as well.

« on: January 03, 2017, 10:41 »
that is what all stock media sites are going to use in their search algorithms, and there is no secret recipe.

Well, that was all conjecture.  Lol.

1111
Please cut it out.  It's quite annoying.  This and the silly video thread makes me think you're just trolling us.

1112
There will be no quality difference in bright sunlight between cameras as lots of light allows for optimal performance.

Again, try defining the problem you think you're having.

1113
While you may hold the copyright on a derivative work using public domain content or licensed content, merely uploading unmodified work would violate the question "do you hold the copyright to this image".

1114
That was an interesting read.  I still haven't heard back from my initial application to Stocksy and haven't bothered trying again.

Applications do take a while to go through, since the editors will contact and research people they are interested in, but after a while, you should have heard either way.  How long has it been?

1115
Just give them the images to use.  It's not a big deal.  I trade all the time for access.

Newbie Discussion / Re: Which areas need a property release?
« on: December 28, 2016, 06:07 »
you said: "You cannot copy nor make any derivative new copyrighted work of another author work without his/her explicit permission"

you are wrong, derivatives fall under Fair Use and is legal.

Wrong again, sorry.  You can't make a catch all statement like that.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Property release pain
« on: December 28, 2016, 05:49 »
stock agencies are incorrect, it is perfectly legal to photograph the Hollywood Sign and resell it for profit.

Here, go ahead and ask these guys about that: http://globalicons.com/hollywood-licensing

I have learned that low ISO is best for bright sunlight.

what about gain, do I need a low gain level?

I would suggest taking a class on the basics of photography and using your existing camera.

Who is "dtiberio" ?

I see so much wrong with your argument...

They like to pull up old threads to post incorrect or irrelevant information.  I don't know why.

You don't need any more than what's on the right.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Creativemarket... your experience?
« on: December 20, 2016, 08:08 »
I removed everything from there.  They pass the risk on to you, give your work away for items for resale in the standard license, and don't police their site for infringements (and don't care).

General Stock Discussion / Re: File Saving?
« on: December 16, 2016, 15:17 »
I rename all my files with my initials, the subject, the date, and the frame number.  That way, if I need to figure out what image I'm dealing with on a site, it makes sense.  If the client gets the file named that, it makes sense to them too.  And I never use spaces in filenames.  You don't know what havoc that will wreak.

I'm impressed by your numbers, but honestly, I wouldn't put up all those nudes and soft porn.  You're just asking for trouble.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Can Stocksy model be replicated?
« on: December 14, 2016, 06:38 »
It also depends if you area can legally support the co-op model.  As there are lots of rules and legalities that Stocksy has to follow.  It isn't just a bunch of people getting together.  It provides safeguards.
