My best cat picture has moved from position 3 or 4 under keyword "cat" to about 60. It has been at the top for a long long time.

A question for all the FAA experts out there! I noticed this morning that all my images had $0 as the price for both prints and cards. They were all set at normal prices last night.
Is it just my account or is everyone seeing this issue?
steve Forget this - it seems to be back to normal. Must have had a technical glitch! Steve

Once you have uploaded and put into galleries, how quickly do they become available in the main site search engine?
Steve To answer my own question - it appears to happen overnight. My new images are visible in the searches this morning. No sales unfortunately, but I guess I need to give it longer than one day! Steve

I can find the ones that were in the original 24 I had in the basic membership, but none of the ones I uploaded today are visible. I do seem to have had a lot of visitors so I suppose there is a "new uploads" section somewhere that people are looking at.
My "Artwork" menu item still shows 24 images, although the "art" part of the home page shows 250 or so. Perhaps there is a nightly update?

This thread has prompted me to get going on this site as well! I'm also the seller of a waterfall! http://steven-heap.artistwebsites.com/saleannouncement.html?id=dc5063f6ca89b2ec779e5c51681e369aI've just upgraded to the $30 package and am struggling (as have others) with their multiple file upload process. Glad it is not just me that has issues with this. Only 3000 images to go (at 1 minute each, that is around 50 hours I think!!) Steve

Yes, it is interesting to see where the common areas are - and also the differences. iStock seems to stick out as an anomaly. I saw quite a bump in iStock when Photo+ was introduced and I have religiously made sure that I have the maximum number of Photo+ images marked. I also remove some of the zero earners and put others in their place. As a result (perhaps), my iStock numbers initially grew and then stayed flat from that point (although quite a way below your starting point.) I don't think I used to keep file number counts back in 2009, so it would be hard to calculate what iStock was back then, for me.
I think I also see a useful bump in earnings from submitting to smaller sites that have little effort associated with uploading images.

From what I recall, it happened the next day - an increase to 38c. I would email support if nothing has changed for 3 days.
Congratulations though! It is a great milestone to reach.

Interesting that it is in the same range - $0.60 to $0.80. With a smaller portfolio, you will obviously get more random variations as you get a big sale one month and then smaller ones the next.
Good luck with growing the portfolio!

I've just completed and posted my annual analysis of my earnings per agency, per download and per image online now that 2012 has drawn to a close. It is a long post and would be hard to summarize here, but the end result for me was another doubling of earnings from 2011 to 2012 (for the fifth year of activity), but I can see that it will get much harder to continue! My analysis of earnings per online image across the 20 sites I submit to continues to show that with my sort of subject and portfolio, I can expect between $0.65 and $0.70 per image per month and that has been pretty consistent for 18 months. So, to double my earnings means I need to double the images I have online on the various sites - and keep the quality and image saleability consistent. As you can see, Shutterstock is easily my most important site, followed by iStock. I had a rotten month with IS in December, with earnings per online image falling to the lowest since early 2011, but the previous two months held up the quarter a bit. I have a monthly graph of this in my post. The full table of sites and earnings per online image: The full details are in my post, which can be found here: http://www.backyardsilver.com/2013/01/december-earnings-and-review-of-2012-for-stock-photography/I'd be interested in anyone else's view of earnings per online file (and whether it is changing over time). Do portfolios with mainly people shots have a higher earning potential per image that one that mine with a mixed bag of studio, travel and nature work? I don't have any direct costs of a stock session (no models to pay), but do I suffer as a result? Interesting questions! Happy new year and I hope your 2013 earnings surpass your expectations! Steve

December for me was not great, but not too shabby. $1723 compared to $2200 in November. Dec 2011 was $1200 so I increased quite a lot during the year. This brings the year to $19,200 compared to $10,600 in 2011. I'm doing a bit of analysis of my stats which I will publish later with my normal graphs.

I adjust the focusing mechanism on my Canon to only use on focus spot in the center of the screen, and I also change the menu options so that focus only occurs when I press the focus button on the back of the camera (ie I remove that function from the shutter button). All the shutter button now does is to set the exposure (unless manual) and take the shot - I have already focused using the back button with the focus point on the area of interest - the eyes of the model .
You could always turn the room lights on - if you are using flash, the house lights will help focusing, but not make any difference to the actual exposure and lighting conditions.

Have you thought about Lightburner instead - I find that to be a great (free) service. You upload once to their site (via FTP) and then they automatically distribute to all your stock sites, resizing if necessary. I wrote about it here (how it fits in with my workflow). http://www.backyardsilver.com/2011/03/my-work-flow-for-stock-photography/Steve

I was with the majority - lower than normal sales in the past week, but Friday surpassed all expectations - a $28 ED is always welcome, but also, my first $90 single download. I've never been completely sure what a $90 download is going to be used for, but this one was my very popular cat shot: A nice Christmas present! Steve

Also check out Lightburner for one upload to them and then they distribute to multiple stock sites
Of course, check my eBook on how to do all this!

Luis - where do you find your credit total to be used for the commission structure for 2013? I'm just less than $2K this year, and will end up just over that level. Is that the same as my credit count?

Look on the bright side - this could be a great opportunity for illustrators to make lots of images of money going over a cliff, the USA map going over a cliff - must be hundreds of possibilities.
I'm sure a stock photo of a stream of coins going over a waterfall would be pretty good.
Every problem has a silver lining!
