I've gotten shy after the debacle of Fotomind that closed doors, apparently just before they needed to pay out a number of contributors, having spent the money already. If fact, they have made money on my images, and I've got nothing. The same with Pixamba but the loss was just a few dollars. Depositphotos on the other hand played a very fair game seting the payout limit under the upload bonus. They payed me promptly my 111$ and I returned the courtesy to upload more than double the amount of the minimum (500) images required for the full bonus. I also won't quit after the minimum of 6 months. They were fair, even if they won't sell a lot.

A weekend lost uploading by their quaky upload system. Luckily, the handwriting on the wall was clear when begin of this year, David didn't even answer forum messages any more. Reviews seemed to have stopped in December. His new venture http://saas.com/ isn't even about photography any more.

Try downloading and using their Zoonar Media Manager...that makes it a lot easier. I did. Compared to Fotolia flash uploader for instance, Java looks very old-style, especially its file browser without thumbs and one by one. Or perhaps I'm missing something...

The submitting process is easy and fast. This is a bit of an overstatement. In general the workflow is quite slow (but perhaps it's me). - Compared to modern Flash modules on microstock sites and The3Ds, the Java upload is archaic, but it works. I had to add my files one by one to the window. - After upload, the images vanish in the hayes and you can only access them again after approval. Approval is fast though. The IPTC was accepted well (description, keywords), except title, so I had to copy/paste that in one by one manually. It's no issue since I use a non-standard IPTC field for model info, and they prefer this field over "object name" for title. - The options are a bit unclear: RM/RF is obvious, but what means discount, normal and premium pricing? - Regularly, when managing the images, you get kicked out of the secure area and you have to enter your usr/pwd again. - Even if you opt in all the partner programs in your profile, it seems that you have to set this manually again on all images after accepting. - Would they accept editorial? It seems you can upload and tick "no release". (Magazines in general don't care that much about released or not.) To whom it concerns: 50% acceptance, all overwhites of a business girl and 1 girl bikini shot. Male overwhite and female engineer in construction context + objects were rejected (they weren't that good though). One accepted image didn't show up. No remarks about the selection since they know their market of course better than we. I didn't try landscapes/landmarks yet. Most rejects were LCV for their audience. Too early to say anything based on just 10 uploads. Recommended.

Well, Thomas, let me put it in a different wording: "Would you please be so kind to refrain from making irrelevant wow-style comments. Many thanks in advance." WOW!

All the ten images I uploaded for review were reject for "Poor lighting/composition". It might help of you would put links to the images on a free image site here. It's easier to comment.

I have about 2,000 more images on BigStock than you do. That alone is a big factor. Your port is nice, just make it grow. Sales will follow. I just had a quick look at your port (2300) and compared to mine (1300), it all fits more or less. I had 18 sales up to today at BigStock in April. But my experience there is since 2005 and there was a clear break in the monthly RPI around April 2008, that never recovered afterwards. They fell back (considering port growth) to 1/2 or 1/3. My good sellers at BigStock are totally different from other sites, and that by itself is a good reason to keep feeding it.

Do not proceed if you are not a legal U.S. resident, 18 years or older, and accessing this site from within the United States, its territories, possessions, or commonwealths (except Puerto Rico). Oh my, I just broke the American law by accessing the site from within the boundaries of its ex-colony. I can already hear the roaring thunder of a US gunship approaching my location near the coast.

And my apologizes for getting istockphoto wrong in the first post. It was a great occasion to tease you. Did you get accepted yet there? If you want to do microstock seriously, you should. You can't say you've driven a car until you drove a BMW.

Denis (goldenangel) wrote lyrics for the vocal version of the song No2 on my CD. I'm so happy because my audio files sell fine on IS, and now I have my first RM tracks. I was in love with music as long as I remember, and this is like a dream come true for me, so I wanted to share the moment with you guys. It's rather amazing, starting from photography. Perhaps you found your real turf. There is a large potential market for stock audio, as many vids don't have sound. You occupied that market early, a very clever thing to do. Success!

What is IS's position on sets like this? I uploaded a collage to them recently, one that I made for DT. It was rejected with the remark: "upload images separately". Toink.

I love how people just ignore newbies. Nah, I just was thinking about "iphotostock". Is this a site like "Timesdream"? Well, anyways, congratulations on opening an account. The rest is fairly easy.

I would classify stocktastic as the former By some coincidence, I know his port and it's great.

I would classify stocktastic as the former, and macrosaur/perseus/tanjomast/batman as the other type. Why would anyone need to keep changing alias's and have several going at once unless they were trolling? Perseus is certainly an obnoxious troll. He just made another pathetic "blog" entry at DT. I'm trying to keep myself from commenting. Macrosaur is clearly a troll. He has no portfolio at all. He is a nobody just ranting here. He should join a knitting club. On topic: DT just launched a new assignment: agriculture. Three weeks ago I was on an expedition with friends, lightboxes and models to the inlands of Bukidnon (a tropical plateau, where's a lot of subsistence agriculture). The FAO (UN) was interested in the shots, since the location and crowd is unique. I just said "thank you no" in the DT thread. That shoot amounted to 100$ in total (I had to feed an entire village since I'm a Caucasian - dirt rich by definition) and there is no way I'm going to give it to microstock for a meager 0.35$ sub. Microstock has gone too far... I'd rather give my shots for free on Flickr.

I honestly don't see the point of these kind of posts. Altough the OP is in my block list for an abundance of self-serving and totally useless posts, I keep seeing the fallout. Ah, while I'm at it, I got a bunch of EL's at SS. Who f*ing cares? Grrr...

Not only did these people send me an email (hello, exclusive!) they just spammed my blog comments. Thanks so much! Did they? Oh my. There should be a law against harassing iStock exclusives.

in China i've met plenty of blond and blue eyed female expats. Allow me to grin at all your self-contented posts. You know it best, huh? You know everything about China, Russia, the East, India, - with your smirky face, yet we didn't see any single shot of you or any port. Let me call you a fraud, a redneck, an imposer, a fraud. I have seen much more than you of (central) China, India and the "East". I'm currently living in SE Asia but I'm connected with IT outsourcing in Chennai. I don't even care for microstock, except it's fun. My snapshots on business travel are for myself. I probably fly more miles in a year than you in a lifetime. I have more "editorial" on my disk that you can dream off, but I just don't like to brag about it since in the time it takes to process, I earn more outside photography. But that's none of your's or any body else's business. Unless you show some of your work and/or port, I will just consider you as a dementing old hilarious pensioner troll in some remote Western downstairs suburb hamlet getting his orgams from forums. The time you spend on forums with unproductive crap you could better spend on processing your 1,000$ pending images that are - undoubtedly - god's gift to stock. (I met some fine braggers, guy, and you are one of them; too chicken to show port? )

Nothing in 2010. I used to get a few sales there before they changed the site. Same here. I got sales when they started, but not any more. Not sure since I lost my password. Their concept sucks big deal. It's on my list to quit.

Interesting how his stuff appears to sell more than 10x better on FT (and IS) than on DT though. Let's not forget Lumaxart, who uses his golden little men all over. As a side note, he stopped uploading on DT.

I feel sorry for the poor chap that has to cross-reference everyone's files to see if they've submitted any photo with that particular prop. They use some tools for that. - Small hint: EXIF date/time info, metadata match. (PS - great port!)
