Most likely they're affiliates.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Sales stopped at Videoblocks?

I had a sale this month. Coincidentally it was a sale of a space-related animation, so I guess that explains it ;)

Canva / Canva email address?
« on: February 14, 2017, 04:32 »
Do they have an email address for contributor-related questions? I can't find a way to contact them.

1154
Some of these contributors could have people working for him. Image factories, basically.

1155
it ended up that I got invitation back in 2014 for iStock Videographer which I never activated but was still a valid invite. Thankfully I saved that email and was able to finally get in.
Do you have some of the text of that old invite?
I am wondering if I have same problem but I can't find the email. It would help me search my inbox if I knew what the subject was or some of the text.

Subject line is 'ESP Invitation for iStock videographers', email was sent October 8, 2014.

All right then - can anyone give any concrete reasons to be 'optimistic' about microstock?

It's a market that gives you total freedom to create what you want, whenever you want.
Despite the fact that some agencies make a mess of everything, there's no job in the world that gives you so much freedom.

Slightly unrelated to the issue of accessing ESP, but still equally outrageous, the reason why we won't see the current balance on IS/Getty anymore (official response) is:

You cannot find your balance because it is not there to be found. ESP does not show your current balance because we no longer calculate a current balance. This is partly due to the fact that the vast majority of sales are subs and the royalties for these can only be worked out at the end of the relevant period that the subscription was valid for, so they cannot be reported live. Once the sales reports are published on Feb 20th though you will see what you have sold and what you have earned.

I just wonder how other agencies manage to report live balance which is composed of subs sales as well? Where's the catch?

That's utterly ridiculous. They develop a whole new system using the latest technology (so they say), but they're unable to calculate subs royalties in real-time? It's like a step back in time and even less transparent than they used to be.

Logged in using the Forgot password option. Now it says:

We're sorry.
Your account is not currently set up for ESP access.

Is this supposed to be normal? I'm getting tired of this mess.
Did you get an ESP invite for video a few years back? Some people who did have reported seeing that error message, despite (or perhaps because) of never having UL'd any clips via ESP. If so, you need to find that email (!) and copy and paste the link given there.

That link didn't work anymore.

Edit: Tried that link again, copy paste instead of clicking it, now I could sign in and my account page was active.

Still haven't received an e-mail.

On the forums they said no-one was going to be left behind, and Monday, all e-mails would be sent out. Nothing.

What a logistical mess, they're a bunch of amateurs.

Edit: apparently, video contributors were sent an invite e-mail with a unique link in 2014(!), which no longer works.

8. This forum sucks! It's not like it used to be!

1162
Ok, I updated the original vote and made it more specific.

You should change the poll question to: who's your third biggest earner?

1163
Or maybe you shouldn't just automatically believe whatever numbers 'some contributors' are spreading around. Shutterstock never mentioned anything about 5c a photo.

I still haven't received my email with ESP login details.

1165
I'm not signing some stupid petition.

Everyone should have some pride and pull their portfolios from Shutterstock.

And then what? If I had to pull my port from any agency that announces some new plan, I could quit microstock altogether.
Not defending SS here, but there's hardly a decent agency left.

1166
New pricing plans, as in, smaller image packs means less On Demand Downloads, thus less earnings. Way to go Shutterstock!

« on: January 31, 2017, 05:21 »
I don't like the new table look, it's harder to read than the previous design. What I do like is the image gallery stats on the other tabs. We can now sort on total earnings again!

The exchange rate from USD to EUR is indeed insane. The worst thing is that Paypal claims it's the 'current exchange rate', while it's the current exchange minus 2.5%. Sneaky.

I don't see any easy way to circumvent the bad rates though. Opening a US bank account seems too much of a hassle, and that isn't free either.

« on: January 30, 2017, 11:40 »
Congrats on your sale. If the sale was reversed then your balance should now be - $499.50 and you'll need on of those sales again to get back to 0.

I have no idea how much money I have, how much I've sold or how much was lost.

There's no excuse for this technical mess. Utterly unprofessional and non-transparant.

Awful.

Shutterstock should really put some duplicate detection system in place to spot these thieves.

« on: January 15, 2017, 15:08 »
Ah yes^but I am still doing very well in comparison and considering. It don't stop me from seeing the mounting problems for this company. You have to be blind not to. SS like all public companies have invested and branched out into a heap of things not involving stock-sales. Think about that one and don't just stare yourself blind at stats and figures.
SS is unfortunately gaining such bad reputation at this moment not just here but in dozens of places open to the public. pretty soon like Istock they will be on the downhill slope to nowhere. Surprises me! Istock is the perfect example of how a great company can just completely and utterly fade away.

As one of the blind could you possible enlighten me as to the trouble Shutterstock are in and what are the heap of investments they have made?

Stop looking at it from an image producers point of view and go see what the real stock analysts are saying
