Awesome stuff.
Any tips, Sean? Is there a demand for non-realeased commercial travel shots?
Thanks in advance

I have been selling stock photos for a while. But sales is not very good. I would like to seek some pointers to improve sales.
Hi and welcome! I'll comment on your travel stuff since still life isn't my thing. You were unlucky and you visited Cinque Terre on a cloudy dull day and unfortunately the colours don't show (although you got a hint of sunshine in one of our pics). Clients rarely download cloudy images of colourful places for obvious reasons. As for your other travel pics, they seem to be the same angles as 1000s of others and look overprocessed (HK and Manhattan). The milky way shots look awesome. Overall, a good start. Lastly, I would suggest to try to use more models (model-released) within your shots to increase their value.

I don't think its the newbies that are the champion complainers ;-) It's true, they come here full of enthusiasm and hope...until we throw a bucket of cold water on them

Sure. I didn't feel like typing an essay at 3am. Hardest working man in Microstock and it shows!

Alamy would make them RM but other agencies would not. Alamy now allows the option to license images as RF editorial. Would this cause problems for me since Alamy and some microstocks categorize same image differently? Potentially yes. It's against Alamy's contributor contract to license RM images as RF on Micros.

Nonpayment (then theft) of contributor funds. (Revostock) Out of control partner program with no opt out. (Panther) Predatory price drops. (take your pick)
Are three reason to remove your port from low performing agencies. Fair enough. It's a lesson for all to only select top-tier agencies ---> see column on the right.

Why would somebody in their right mind pull their portfolio if they got fed up with an agency? Makes more sense to just leave it and forget about it...then get some PayPal payment without expecting.
One example of when having a big ego does more harm than good.

Sometimes I think they're bots. Random rejections. Just got some images which I was 95% sure would be rejected for lack of property release...lucky me they got through:

I can predict that hundreds of copycats will add fake sun flares to their failing photos as of today. Better put on my shades at night

Does it have to be a sun? Many subway systems have artistic lighting. I know this one is added, but I don't immediately think "sun".
To me it's like: he just had a great business idea that will save his company millions concept.

No I am talking about another few images. The back lighting I understand.
Like this one in a subway That's a good question. I suppose he can submit a similar without this effect and the buyer can choose accordingly.

The opposite of doom and gloom would probably be unbridled optimism. The term carries an appropriate whiff of self-delusion with it. How about "measured optimism"?

Ports of 1.5-2K assets. What kind of stuff are you shooting?

Let's try to discuss some positives here? There's too much negativity on here, in my opinion.
So far my Sept is looking up:
- 1st sale at RH - 3 sales at Alamy - So far 88 downloads at SS - Sales picking up at AS
Anybody else have positive news to share?

Luddite (lʌdaɪt )
If you refer to someone as a Luddite, you are criticizing them for opposing changes in industrial methods, especially the introduction of new machines and modern methods. [disapproval]
The majority have a built-in Luddite mentality; they are resistant to change.
Luddite in British (ˈlʌdaɪt ) noun English history 1. any of the textile workers opposed to mechanization who rioted and organized machine-breaking between 1811 and 1816 2. any opponent of industrial change or innovation adjective 3. of or relating to the Luddites
Derived forms Luddism (ˈLuddism) noun Word origin of 'Luddite' C19: alleged to be named after Ned Ludd, an 18th-century Leicestershire workman, who destroyed industrial machinery

I have a dream that newbies will one day live in a forum where they will not be judged by their lack of expertise but by the content of their character.

Hey guys,
So I'm pumped, I've reached the threshold of $500 US lifetime earnings on Shutterstock. They sent me an email confirming that I get a raise... subscription images now $0.33 per DL instead of $0.25. Woot! EXCEPT, my very next sale came in at 25 cents. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a delay? Will they fix it? Do I really need to start the long process of contacting them??? (groan). (Still pretty pumped about reaching this milestone! In under a year of uploading... I know its peanuts but hey, I'm happy)
Thanks, Rachel Congrats
