There are a few (or mostly the same) who hide behind anonymity, and take their vengence out on other forum members, and thats counterproductive.
There can be other very important reasons to stay anonymous, which are not mentioned in the above poll. Think legal entities, financials and nations.

grafix04 & RT - just knock it off you 2 - get the Christmas spirit!  ;D

Sorry I should have known better than to offer an opinion, I just don't understand some people who like to moan about a site but do nothing about it, and I really don't understand why people like him are always looking to blame others for being a failure. I'll ignore him from now on. Have a good Christmas

Right.
You two guys are both competent people. Its a waste to argue against eachother, and especially on such a personal level.
There are people out there (agencies) who love when "the peasants" are divided. Thats why they play all the tricks with commisions for someone and not for others.
Divide and conquer.
a classic. Have you noticed how many of their efforts have to do with exactly that? In the current sutuation it is because SOME stays at 50% whereas others do not, that cause the disagreement between two of our members.

grafix
I have carefully read your post.
and will take action.

There is something worse than "africans".
That is rich amateurs who can afford to experiment and learn.
Hobbyists, do not work for a dollar or a bowl of rice.
They pay to play the microstock gamble.

« on: December 22, 2012, 20:16 »
Sharpness is an illusion based on focus.

Means, there is more to sharpness than focus and DOF.
Your photos might be in fine focus, and with well placed dof, but they may lack contrast and clarity, or other things.

Therefore. It would be nice to see examples, instead of everybody sit here and agree on something on a hear say basis.

unless you sell more.....

1207
Ja, that was back in the days when all was new and things were shared. Now we sell things on the interent marketplace.

1208
This reminds me of the good old days in the San Fransisco dungeon, back in the days when internetfora were newly invented. 1995 or such.

They are hoping to expand their profit from the low earners who stay, -because they are in financial trouble, or need more profit.

There is an important lesson to be learned, a lesson seen before but often overlooked or misunderstood.

The 50% people are not important, from the agencys view, because the agency can only expand the profit by means of rising sales.
When lowering commisions, they can get extra profit from their contributors.
Like earning on both buyers and sellers.
So they need not to expand their sales, or they cannot.
So the message is: falling sales and profits, the agency cannot expand their sales enough, so they begin to eat the hand that feeds them.
Seen before, at a much larger scale.
It also tells us that they feel large enough to play such a game, or maybe they are desperate enough?

So again we have a case where the agent, begins to parasite more and more and it gets annoying.
And for me, the annoy factor is important.
And Im the kind of guy that deletes instead of leave things up.
Mostly because, I wont have my port undermine me at other places and Im annoyed with the way agencies spread everything out to subcontractors by licencing collections and such.

what times is it?
its 15.32 here.

Should we expect things to happen when the day is over in the Mexican time zone, or what?

Same old story.

Good thing, its easy to dump the site.

1212
BTW. One of my cheapest and yet most expensive photoshoots was when I photographed a pile of paper, which included a lot of bills and bank papers and other "unpleasant" letters. It sells.

1213
Thanks,

But that might be wrong. There is a market for those things. Warzones, fallen angels and not to mention gothic claire obscure art, of which the net is full.
Horror sells.
However, it is the reviewer who decides and the picture may have been lousy.
Once I had a picture of a dead (and shot to pieces) fox, rejected all over  the agencies, aestetics and such. SS took it, it didnt sell much though I thought it was a suitable for animal wellfare and the like.

wings of a dead swan, to a wedding dress designer.
500 dollars.

Did you ever upload that photo to the micros?  Because on my very first day at LuckyOliver, I reviewed a photo of bloody, formerly white wings on grass...and nearly wanted to throw up.  LOL

No I never photographed the wings. Also I prepared and dried them and everything, so they were nice and pure like angle wings.
+ when I upload disgusting things, I usually warn the reviewer with a note, like when I uploaded this tongue, with a notice of "Beware of graphic content":

I have bought a pump, so I can pump the water out of the old German bunker I have in my backyard.

It is a good thing that the water is not frozen.
And yes, true, I have a bunker in my backyard.

If I were just a bit more insane than I am, I would definately be a doomsday prepper. Its fun to collect all these guns and wolftraps and to dig holes, and armour up old schoolbusses and fill them up with raisins and maizeflour and then bury them underground.

Then it is fair use.

1218
It is not about you and you and you and me and me.
It is not about keeping a percentage and who kept and who lost it.

It is about that they were scared because of the sound of the peasants sharpening the pitchforks in the yard of the temple.

That is a very important lesson.
Forget you and me and percentages, -and see that we, when we are noisy enough, actually can make a difference.

1219
Very.
Laws are there to handle conflicts between interests.
Its not truth or untruth, its negotiations and balancing interests.

There are blogs out there that make money on for example critizising images, remember the 10 worst stock photos and the like, they would claim it to be fair use, because of critisism.
They are right, and its the same with news media. And at the same time, they are wrong, especially if their core product are the pictures themselves.

In the concrete case, we are missing some informations.
And I would guess that the OP sits there and calculates if he is a teacher who earns money or not.

But there is an alignment with the center of the galaxy.

1221
Ne, but Vordingborg, Denmark.

1222
The question is...
Are you earning money from it or is it a learning process?

It can be both, teachers earn money.

Ja, but thats not relevant.
Does the money come from the pictures we are talking about or does it come from wages?
Normally the pictures would just be samples in a learning process.
Like a picture of a uboat in a physics lesson about pressure. We are not talking about a book, but pictures that occur in students papers.
Here we have a guy writing about microstock, if he is a student, the pictures are fair trade, if he is a teacher, and earns money from it, it might be a bit more complicated and boils down to if his activities takes commercial value out of the pictures, as if they were resold.

Its actually fine that someone keeps photographing these general photos, so we nische photographers are left in peace.

1224
The question is...
Are you earning money from it or is it a learning process?

And yes, if you are writing about microstock, you need microstock examples.
But if you are earning money, it is commercial, and you will have to commercially licence the pictures.

1225
They have listened.
We are being listened to.
I like that.
