« on: February 12, 2010, 14:12 »
They also got lucky the whole Thinkstock disaster is distracting peeps away from this i think; makes it die even faster.
My portfolio is deleted now too, also because i'm not supporting their trickeries and am fed up with their attitude.
Website is a few days away from being finished and on my 'stockpage' i'll be posting a notice to buyers about how FT treats it's contributors.
I know the impact will be little to zero, but if it puts even one buyer away from there i'll still feel like i've won ;)
Just be careful what you say because they could get you for slander so make sure you \ print out any thing said by them on the forums or in person...not that they would do it, but with them, you never know what to expect.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Snow Storm Slowdown?
« on: February 11, 2010, 17:10 »
Heh it's snowing in Dallas Texas..so that's a little far south. Suppose to be moving into southern Alabama tonight. Any accumulation is very unusual with snow in the south but it is accumulating. Around here they close everything when they forecast it, they don't wait to see if it will actually happen. lol

Yes if you've got a single object and it isn't on bright white, then they do reject it. I had quite a few rejected that way. A couple of them I came back and isolated on a pure white background then they accepted them.

Don't feel bad, I have gotten some for that also. just so you know you aren't alone.  ;)
I don't think they use the rule of thirds. Most of the ones excepted are dead on center. If there is even something that is cut off on the edge they reject that...that is the composition rejections.

It's doing exactly what they were waiting for...dieing down. I noticed there hasn't been nearly as much activity about it here on the forum either. Just what they want!

Any one checked out depositphotos home page. They have changed it and it looks ALOT better the way they have it designed than it did before.
Check it out and see what you think.

StockXpert.com / Re: Last Stockxpert payout related issue
« on: February 10, 2010, 15:23 »
It occurs that a lot of photographers still have default 5$ on their stockxpert balance. Let it do something useful. Why not to buy image from other contributor portfolio, just to round up a sum, since minimum payout doesn't matter this time. I propose to show links on your StockXpert portfolio here, to exchange this 5$ favor thing

I tried to support Haiti with this file, still 60 whole cents from Payout limit. Till today, none of my images showed up at Thinkstock....
So help Haiti with a small donation:

http://nl.stockxpert.com/browse_image/view/57200101

THANX!

All you have to do is contact customer support and ask for a final payout...they will payout no matter rather there is $100.00 or $5.00. Just ask.

Congrats.  ;D Now go for creating from scratch or do the practice like I mentioned before. Force yourself to learn the tools.
I'm slowly learning them...I working on a goofy looking man...or woman...riding a bike. We'll see how that goes. Oh and it is from scratch.. ;D

I was going to purchase credits from another photographer so I could reach my payout and bailout, but in order for me to purchase 22 credits, which is all I needed to add to my 28 to cash out, it would cost me $30.00 because their currency was in Euros and mine is in $$$. That's an example of the differences in currencies depending on which one you get paid with.

Got my first 500 approved and searchable.  But no one's searching for them, at least if my lack of views is accurate.  And no referrals yet either.  Won't you help?  Operators are standing by!

They are trying to get their photos there first so when they start getting the buyers there, then they won't look at it like "There isn't much there so I ain't gonna waste my time" They are wanting the inventory before they try to bring in the buyer. I really believe they are doing this right. You can't open the door without having the inventory. I really believe they are going to be successful.

I agree with stockastic about this industry turning towards the subscriptions, but has any one taken into account the present economy? My sales steadily increase. This economic condition started back in 2002 for me and many of us got into microstock in 2005 - 2006. We don't know any different. I personally think once the economy starts to improve...sales will improve with it. I realize right now the market is saturated but I think once things get better those photographers that think they can make a thousand with microstock will fade away because they will have other places to make their income. Rather the stock agencies will raise our commissions...I don't know, but I do believe sales will increase when these ad agencies have a less tighter budget. I don't think they will ever go to the macrostock because its call profit and loss as far as a business and they will stay where they can get the cheapest images. That's just business. Only time will tell but that is what I think.

Istock seem to like to see strong drawing in their application files

These weren't application files, just regular uploads.

Well if you have got through the vector application process,  then a bit of experimentation should get files accepted. It's a fine line at istock - the simple stuff that sells on other sites (apparently) tends to get rejected as not stock, while the time consuming arty stuff is easily accepted but doesn't sell too well.

After what you said I think I'll stay away from iStock until I can get to a "professional" vector level... ;) It sounds like the ones they like are way above my level. I just submitted to a couple of agencies as jpg, not eps, so we'll see what happens.

Believe me I know what you mean. The first time I priced one.....I was hoping they did notice me shaking on the other end... ::)

It sounds like to me that it's not the publisher doing the cover but a designer. The book maybe being published or has been published and they needed a book cover for it.

If they can only download the thumbnail via flickr then they need the full res copy to publish. Otherwise I don't think they would be asking her for her permission to use it if they could download the full res copy off of Flickr. They probably wouldn't even ask.

Photoshop Tutorials / Re: domain name for PSD tutorials - tutz.tv?
« on: February 09, 2010, 13:20 »
It just doesn't sound right. For me if that domain came up in a google search I doubt I would go check it. I'll end up going to one that has a better sounding domain name.

LSD72....I know what it's like for someone to purchase and park a domain name. Someone tried to sell me...donnabeeler.com for $99.00. I ended up buying...donnabeeler.net...then about a year later I was offered it at $12.95. I never purchased it so maybe now it's just a $1.99..

Okay, I see, usual FT double talk. A is not really a it's an FT , which is sort of like a , but not really.

Be careful...you're starting to sound like them..... :D :D :D

Another question...what size are these suppose to be? 400 x 400 eps? 4000 x 4000 jpg? What file size is minim and maximum.....example  135KB or like 1.5MB. I don't know if I'm starting the Art board at the right size or not.
