It occurred to me lately that no new stock agency really made it after 2005.

There's a link on the right side if you don't want a referral link.  Otherwise, mine is http://www.fotomind.com/index.php?referer_id=796 if you got value from this info. :)

No. I'm there since August with 500 shots. I even helped them with the IPTC. Then I forgot. They woke me up last month by an email I sold a shot. Another garage operation I guess, like GeckoStock.

87% of my Crestock sales are by subscription
So Crestock is a subscription site. If it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, swims like a duck, flies like a duck and looks like a duck, - it's logical to assume it's a duck.

Thanks for the hint! That "WordPress guy" is me- just updated the header.php file with a base set of keywords!

You're welcome. Like mjp said, there is a very good SEO package for Wordpress. I consider iofoto.com one of the best photogs sites around so I took the liberty to copy the concept on flemishdreams. I just wondered why you picked Wordpress and not Joomla.

I re-joined CS in January since they seemed to have lost their bad attitude from a year ago. Uploaded 10 full size, accepted 7. The site is very well programmed, a real example of a good RF site.

As to sales, I got 3 of 0.25$. Judging from that limited sample, it's just another subscription site with insulting low prices. Even SS gives 0.30$ and I got 90% acceptance there. With the dollar down to 1.60 to the Euro, I guess it's not worthwhile to upload more to CS.

What's more, exactly the same shot sold at MostPhotos for 12.5 Euro, a trifle more than at CS with a dollar not even worth the paper it is printed on. I can't justify to customers giving away 10MP shots at Crestock for a lousy 0.25 worthless dollars when they have to pay good Euros at MostPhotos.

Sorry Crestock, I will quit.

the six batches of one I upload to IS daily. It's something I do with my morning uploads

Try DeepMeta.
I hate to advertise it. I know the guy since he lives close. But it's good.

I'm against any interventionist country

Go and tell that to the West Europeans and the largest part of Southeast Asia. What a blessing it should have been to live under the Japanese Emperor and under the heirs of Hitler and Stalin. Reality check.

I just had a rejection of an Asian water buffalo on Fotolia because the model release was missing.

That is one of our goals with the iofoto.com home page. We support all our distributors- links are embedded throughout the site.
You should tell your WordPress guy to change the metatag keywords in your WordPress install to your own keywords. Right now, they still are the standard Wordpress ones.

But it is Snapvillage's web address, nothing to do with Iofoto. How can google effect that?
Because the webprogrammers of SV don't realize that you have to put the name of the contributor too in the page title/metatags that gets exposed to the Google bots. Whatever, they still run WordPress, an Open Source CMS. No wonder they can't come up with FTP.

Maybe if you had studied a little about the middle east BEFORE invading, you wouldnt have gone in.
Gulf II was a bad mistake. The WMDs were a hoax, like the Gulf of Tonkin. Cheney and his gang wanted the oil. George WB shouldn't have been re-elected after the WMD lies. He was. It will be corrected 4 years later, that's the good news.

How about a bumper sticker
Yes we have those, and to stand out from the others, they are vertical. Fits nicely on a sports utility bulldozer. Send us 10$ by Paypal for packing and handling, and you get one for free!

Well, that's all well and good- unless youre an iraqi.
Reality check: the Americans don't kill Iraqis. Some fundamentalists of their own people do it.

Oh well, I would have liked to see the video.

Yap Vietnam was a blunder, and Gulf II too. Apart from that, Western Europe would have been an economical desert now under a collapsed Communist regime, South-East Asia (and parts of China) would have been a cruel Japanese protectorate under a godlike Emperor and Israel would have had its second holocaust.

Every century had its superpowers. Don't have to remind what Colonial powers Portugal and Spain did with the Indians and the Belgians in Congo. The US only had only one colony: the Philippines. Instead of * it dry like the Spanish the 300 years before, they installed a working democracy, a judicial system, and above all an educational system from kindergarten up to college. Then, after liberating it at the cost of many tens of thousand young lives from the Japanese, they gave the Philippines the choice between full US statehood or independence. The US installed a working democracy in Japan too, AND in Germany.

The difference between the contemporary superpower and the previous ones is the total democracy, free speech, and a constitution that protects the people against corruption from an absolute state and global freewheeling of power-drunk leaders. There is no Great Firewall in the US like in China.
Mistakes can happen, bad ones like Vietnam. But after a while it gets corrected thanks to the power of the voting people. That's why Obama-Clinton will be elected ;-)

If I post 239 threads on your contributor-only forum showing everyone my "cakes and sweets" will the sales magically go through the roof for my images that so far haven't had any sales for the 3 years they've been online?

Bluntly said, no Holgs. You totally seem to miss the point of commercial microstock and the kind of business we are building. As it happens, we had a Ballyhoo about this recently in my Bermuda Marriott rooftop suite sipping liters of prime Veuve Cliquot 2001 with our other 89 CEOs.  ::)

A quality site like ours is not about the photographers, but it is about us:D You see, photographers are a commodity and Bermuda Marriott rooftop suites don't come cheap. A successful MS site has operational costs too and I'd surely would like to upgrade to Veuve Cliquot 1999 next month.  :P

Thousand of new stock photographers are born every day in China, in India, in Eastern Europe, - and given some time lurking in all the free tutorials on the net and on forums (mostly done by overfed over-egoed stock photographers like yourself, wasting their time instead of doing photography) they will get good, they will get better and especially, they will be cheaper than you, populating all the new 1-cent subscription sites with their flashy Nokia 24MPs.  ;)

That's why we have such a competitive advantage with our dowload all you can for 0.99$ yearly innovative superstition plan (SuperScription++ TM). We are targeted towards rapid growth and ultimate customer satisfaction. In a grand scheme like this, there is no need at all for naggers, whiners and touters in our VomitoriumTM:(

Only 3 threads will be allowed. Our own milestones thread, a contributors thread in which you are cordially invited to post like wow I feel so happy to be here, and fantastic, this site rocks:o
The third thread will be very relaxed though. Anything goes, as long as it's about Veuve Cliquot:-*

Hope this helps.

When do we get a raise?
We will raise the bar for quality like CanStockPhoto. Happy?

From now on we will also include only the last 10 keywords in the search engine, and only those longer than 8 characters.
All landscape photos should be landscape (H) and all portraits portrait (V).

Horizons should be horizontal, give or take 2.69 pixels.
In case of married male models, a mother-in-law release should be uploaded too. In case of sexy girls, make sure her telephone number is very clear and in print;D

There is 16-th and 17-th reason to join MP.
16 - proven sales
17 - Euros

An apple is fruit and food, so "apple, isolated" would be enough. Don't forget "green" for the color. Not all apples are created equal.
So forget "apples, fruity, health, healthy, slimming, calory, calories, low, cholesterol, medicine, agriculture, nature, tasty, juicy, slim, diet, dieting, natural, sexy;D

Just to add a bit of reality to this before it veers off on a course of complete exaggeration and inflated speculation...

It's always good to hear both sides of the story. If not, that's how urban legends spring to life ;-)

To Hatman: no, you don't have to keyword for CanStockPhoto separately. You priority-tag your keywords already for Fotolia (7), I guess, so just make it the first 15 for CanStockPhoto or 20 for Zymmetrical. More sites will include keyword-relevance sooner or later in their search engine since searches will break down (resulting in tens of pages per search) on sites with 2,000,000+ images.

Quote
Another pre-emptive tactic for the photographer might be to enter the image's keywords in the IPTC metadata in order of relevance. At first sight, this tactic is rather overkill since agencies rank the tags alphabetically for now. The issue remains however that some tags are more essential than others. With a glass with pouring Champaign can the metaphor waterfall be associated, but with an image of a real waterfall, the meta tag waterfall is more relevant. Glass is more relevant for the first image.

(I hate to quote myself ;) )

(in part) I've seen so many gorgeous images on stock sites I just can't use, either because the shot axis is wrong or the cropping makes me insane.

Off-topic. Didn't realize the MS Junction was yours. Added it here anyways ;-) - you need a feed button for RSS. The first thing in the morning is to hover over all my feed buttons in Firefox.

believe me or not, i"ve got batch rejected on Canstock.

This sounds to get crazier all the time.

and 15 keywords is a total joke.
anybody here edit keywords specially for them? leaving only 15?

Yes I keyword for Fotolia. My vital kwds are in the first 7 and the essentials in the first 15. Anything beyond are synonyms and circumstantial. By ranking kwds in order of importance, I'm always safe, on Fotolia with 7 and on SS with 50.

Update. Just got catapulted way beyond pay-out limit by some regular sales. I could leave in grace now, but I have this weak spot for loner Duncan. This young guy did an incredible thing on his own, years ago. CanStockPhoto is still a very slick site. It doesn't harm to leave shots there. Just pause upload till they got their senses back. CanStockPhoto has always been very innovative in programming. I think the keyword-relevance thing is a major step forward in search algorithms and customer comfort.

Last batch of 5 was 100% rejected, even though 3 of them were 100% accepted on the other 8 sites.

If big guns like Lisafx and DBvirago get a majority of rejections on CanStockPhoto, I won't even try any more.
I used to have 3-4 sales on CanStockPhoto till January. Suddenly all sales stopped, for almost 2 months now. I'm hovering 1.70$ before payout. Would they block sales then to keep the loan contributors are making? Am I paranoid?

Whatever, if somebody would leave CanStockPhoto with credits left, it would be nice to buy one of my shots so I finally get over that payout limit.
