Are you going to keep Googling up other statue controversies and posting them rather than discussing the issue in any substantive way? I mean there's Churchill, or if you want to stick to the US there's Roosevelt too. None of these people have monuments thrown up to them to celebrate their views on race or their willingness to kill for those views. I'm on the fence on this one, to be honest, although I don't think the statue of Nelson should be demolished for the simple fact that he was a great naval commander & patriot. The US statues in question are more problematic in that they symbolise something which 99.5% of people consider to be "wrong" in 2017. The cliche is that History is written by the winners so if the N azis had won WW2, there would have been fascist statues all over the UK and a large minority wouldn't think twice about it (look at Eastern Europe during communism). Morality changes with time as we tend to evolve, slowly. I think being a History revisionist is dangerous. Did those people hold racist views (by modern standards)? Yes. Should we erase this legacy from the public sphere? No, in my opinion. I tend to generally agree with the following quote from the article: "Its History we cant & shouldnt re-write it we learn from it. Removing statues would make us no different to terrorists at Palmyra." I'll be taking a train shortly at Milan's train station. It's a magnificent over-the-top structure built by the Italian fascist regime in 1931 to represent the power that racist regime (picture below). It has "strong nationalistic" symbols everywhere. Maybe I'm missing the point but such building needs to be preserved even if what it represented once-upon-a-time was "evil".

hmm i think you wanted to say, i can take some editorial photos? isn't it? it is advantage for me that politically things. Cos of i can find many things for take photos. Yes, political situation in Turkey is a hot topic with the refugees / Syria, Erdogan, austerity, conservative vs secular tension. Those topics are in demand, but I would personally submit those images to Alamy not to Microstock. Must not be easy to be a journalist in Turkey these days though which makes these types of images even more premium.

Hello friends!
I am new member. I want to ask about for sell. Can you check my profile? Is there any problem? Can you give me some tips for sell? I sell 4 photos during 20 days. Thanks for everythings.
newbielink:https://www.shutterstock.com/tr/g/Fahrettin+OZCAN Hi, From the onset they look good...bright and colourful with interesting topics with the exception of some which look over-processed (see below). Also, birds, flowers and the animals you have shot look like snapshots. On the positive side, the stair trails and isolated stuff look good. I think you just need to produce more of these and i'm talking about 2000+ images. As for only 4 photos in 20 days, we're all struggling in these summer months with few downloads...hopefully it's a short term situation. You're in turkey, ever thought about taking some editorials as there's lots going on there politically. Alex

Some right images but wrong agency. I would recommend you look into submitting to Arcangel Images (Rights-Managed and exclusively).
The background stuff could be used for licensing of images used for book covers.
As for the boudoir stuff, also could be licensed for book covers. I see many of these types of images on their database (although darker themes). As they get through their stringent technical and commercial checks, I would presume that many buyers are looking to source such images at Arcangel.
Perhaps your isolated on white images could do well on Adobe Stock / Fotolia.

Here's a statue of Oliver Cromwell in front of the Houses of Parliament in London. To many English he's considered a hero. To the Irish he's a war criminal In September 1649, Cromwell's 12,000-strong forces stormed Drogheda, north of Dublin.
HIs troops massacred nearly everyone in the garrison and the town - which Cromwell justified as the "righteous judgment of God upon these barbarous wretches".
A month later Wexford suffered the same fate and both incidents, justified by the British as militarily necessary to subdue the population, still figure strongly in Irish republican history. Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/326121.stm

Communism, fascism or racism are no matters we should be proud of and celebrate. I agree, but it's complicated. If you ever have a chance to visit Lisbon you'll see many many buildings and churches covered in gold. This gold was taken from Brazil and carved by slaves. These are beautiful structures with a sad history (which few people know about) so would you say its right that such churches should stand?

I've started looking back at some "old" images that were rejected only 1 year ago and they're getting through.
Here's one (it's a bit of a bad technical shot of some ropes for climbing on a rock face) at 100%.

That was also being ready to reply to one person and hitting reply and it telling me another person had added to the post... I then added INTO that message my response, so it made it twice as long (to 2 people at once). I won't do that anymore Love your energy. Hope we can help you to channel it into creating simple & useful content that buyers will find useful.

Thanks as well Bad Company ------ Hi Crystal, Welcome to the microstock I can see you're eager to learn. You've come to the right place! I did sell one picture today on SS Did you sell the salt flats? That's a nice shot / location...looks like barren Siberia. If you live close, I would recommend to try to get many shots but be careful with the heat! Better if you can find a friend/relative to be a model on your shoot. Keep in mind that the search engines are basically blind and that buyers won't find your image if you don't include accurate keywords (of which you've included 15): I would add the following 35 more keywords/phrases: alkali, arid, crusty, death valley, dried up, dry, evaporation, flat, geology, global warming, heat, hot, lifeless, salt, saltpan, sand, sediment, smooth, canyon, mineral, reservoir, salt river project, scenery, sky, exploration, extreme, post-apocalyptic, salt dunes, mineral, mountain, ww3, plain, scenic There's a lot to cover but I thought best to focus on just that one image which is nice and shoot more of these and less of flowers and dogs. Check out more of my tips in my blog at: www.brutallyhonestmicrostock.comWelcome again. Alex

I have not been able to upload them because I do not want used in any way hat would support certain positions. I worked in oil & gas for many years and they're one of the greediest most corrupt sectors around. Sometimes we have to do what we have to do but I'm glad I got out.

Is it simply because it's not worth the time to upload/tag images if you're only getting a few cents per month? There's software out there that mass submits, such as Stocksubmitter, so it's not that much extra work. I don't do it because I sell some of my images as Rights-Managed at Alamy, Getty, etc. Whether it makes more in the long-run with this approach rather than offering it everywhere remains to be seen but at least it gives me some peace of mind that usage is being tracked. The remainder of my more generic images will go on as RF to only SS and Adobe Stock. I also don't want to have the extra work of pulling images out of agencies that are struggling and offering clients huge discounts (race to the bottom).

Even without the logo you'd need a release to use that image commercially. True, I have a similar where the car isn't so prominent and the focus is on the building. It could probably pass for a commercial after a little bit of work.

I'm uploading this image today to Alamy (RM). It shows a Ferrari on a upper-class London street which works way better as an editorial than as a commercial as I want the Ferrari logo to be present. This could be used in all sorts of news pieces, especially as now (and for some time) there's a backlash against expats using London as a tax haven.
fk micros, no way in hell am i submitting this image to them.

Most of my images are a combination of travel, family/kids and some news/events. I haven't shot anything specifically for stock, but may try doing so shortly to improve my downloads. Hi Chris, Alamy: I see you've submitted a lot of images to the Alamy Live News, such as the Kendall's Crusade fundraising event. It's difficult to say how big this type of event is and whether it would attract some buyers. There's also quite a bit of similars which as stated above may affect your ranking. As for the RF stuff you're duplicating on Micros, that's generally not a good idea. Commercial micro type images generally don't do well on Alamy as many of the buyers are editorially-types looking for specific places and events (which you have supplied). There's also the chance that a buyer may get the same image for much cheaper (so far not much evidence to support this but it's an inkling). That's nothing in comparison with licensing the same image RM at Alamy (example: Image ID: JHX93Y) and RF at Shutterstock (example: Stock photo ID: 678457027). Just don't do it as it's against the Contributor Contract(s). SS The good news is that you have a lot of model released images of children which can be difficult to obtain. These automatically make them more premium. However, I don't get the kids stuff...I can see you're going for candid authentic shots but they appear more like snapshots to me with the exception of some lucky moments that appear more commercially interesting (playing in swings, playing in snow). It seems like you're just shooting everything and hoping to catch something special...then submitting everything. You need better selection and eliminate the trashy images (kids with weird expressions and/or too crops at the very least). The strongest evidence that they're snapshots are, for the most part, the weird angles and tight crops on the kids. Then there's just more snapshots of beaches with harsh sunlight. However, the pumpkin stuff may be interesting although you do need to shoot wider. I don't blame you, SS letting is letting in all sorts of junk that they would have rejected 1-2 years ago. It's become a joke. Look at this image (Stock photo ID: 675367726) soooo clearly OOF makes me upset how much QC standards have dropped. I mean, look at the attached image. Is that an image of a train...it's just a lamp post with an overexposed sky. Why does it need to be editorial and the key wording is just wrong. As for commercial value, extremely questionable. Ok i'm done. I admire your tenacity to keep submitting but it's too much quantity and not enough quality.

Look back on photos and film taken showing injured and dead people for news syndication.
You don't shoot news by ignoring the gory details Anybody seen the movie "Nightcrawler"?

Same idiots on this side of the pond.
I have no problem photographing this type of news. I don't understand why this would be a "lack of ethics" or "profiting from misfortune". Perhaps I'm missing the point but to me it's about capturing a current event and of course making a profit from licensing such images.

Sales are honestly pathetic. Have you stopped submitting to them or plan to? I'm still uploading to SS (low cost / low effort images) but much less and focusing instead on editorials at Alamy.
