Thanks Jo Ann, what a shame that a few would ruin it for everyone else.
It was encouraging to see my progress in the rankings.

I was just looking at mine and I have a $2.02 for one file on the first, that's a nice way to start.

Well it seems as if the Wizards of the best match listen to everyone. Lobo posted this about an hour ago. The current sort wasn't exactly what we had in mind this time around so we can expect things to be dialed back over the weekend.

Yes, plenty of DLs since the latest change.
Yep, my old popular files are selling again. I don't mind giving the oldies a new chance from time to time.
I agree that some of my older files are selling, but to bury the new files so deep it the issue.

With this new shift, iStock has basically said new images are worthless not important.
Someone just had a thread asking if they should upload or not, which was deleted. ETA: Looks like Kelvin put it back up with a stern warning that you cannot talk about the best match.
I wonder if iStock has any idea on how something like this hurts the productivity of their contributors?
They say they want "real" imaged but if you upload them now they will not be seen.

Occupy iStockphoto!
We need a full accounting audit. Yesterday.
Even more so now that several people, including myself, have reported a drop in RCs today.

Its not like this "edstock" collection is stealing any downloads from anyone. Over 120K files and less then 5K sales.
In a way it is because an IS contributor CANNOT upload the same type of images. Even if the IS contributor is credentialed for let say a celebrity event, like I have been, they cannot submit those images. Like I said before part of the double standard.

The other thing that really bothers me is the double standards that IS gives to the EdStock collections. Such as the Format of the caption and date, similars and other technical issues. If an IS contributor would submit with these errors they would be rejected.
If they want the collections to draw more buyers that's fine, but they need to also put the celebrities name in the keywords as both first and last name, along with last and first name. Because right now if you search by last name nothing comes up.

No he isn't. I'm still waiting. Well in that case i apologise, but I know of no one else in that position and I think the forums would have been pretty red hot were there many others. I assume you have contacted IS, so what is their reason for not paying you what is owed?
Hmm, I'm not sure we're talking about the same bug. This one is from Jan 1-3rd, when my royalties were set back to 15% (i dont think everyone was affected). I meant to contact support but then i saw Sean posting in the forums that he still was waiting too; with a response from Kelvin the corrections for those would be there 'soon'. Sean, did you get yours corrected in the meantime?
I don't think so. On this past Monday Lobo posted: JAN 1-3 royalties update:
We have email copy for the emails ready. Working on the script today, hopefully it's resolved mid-week, I'm going to say end of week just to be safe.
This is a huge priority. We apologize for the delay.Maybe that "fix" broke the RCs and %s?

My RCs and %s just came back

To break something they have to release new code.
Not true. Servers can be flaky, especially with distributed systems, huge databases, NAS, SAN, and perhaps overloaded or flakey network gear tying it all together.
It seems sales are all calculated by a base royalty rate plus offset. When the RC level lookup fails, because the database that has that table is offline or unreachable, the offset is considered zero. That shouldn't be a possible failure mode.
Would be nice of the base royalty was instead the max (45% exclusive, 21% non-ex) and the RC based offsets were negative, that way when the lookup failed and returned zero, contributors would get paid the max royalty.
Contributors would pocket the difference on each bug affected sale, but iStock would save in not having to spend weeks manually calculating the differences and manually adding funds back to every contributor's account that had a sale. The bug would bother contributors less if it was a temporary error in their favor.
With the very long "Bug List" which seems to get longer everyday, you have to wonder how many little code tweaks they have to be adding everyday. I know wishful thinking on my part, that they are actually trying to fix the mess. So really you both could be right. As far as making the problems in the contributors favor will never happen. They hope contributors don't closely check their sales and if they don't iStock benefits.

The F5 site is living up to it's name, because you have to keep hitting F5 so it will work.

Frankly, if you were the owner of the company and bought another business, will you reorganize and even disassemble the old core especially if the loyalty remains with the old owner? The more the contributors express resentment to the new management, the more likely they are going to make old iStock disappear. It is naive to think Kelly or Joseph would lead a resistance against Getty. That's just common sense.
Yes there is some resistance to change but I think the bigger problem is a big lack of leadership that everyone is looking for, from whom ever is in charge of iStock.

^ I have a hard time taking someone, who at times comes across so condescending, seriously. It makes it look like he is in charge.

HQ has posted an explanation to the changes
http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=339877&page=1
^^^ More management-speak fluff. Did anyone learn anything from it (apart from "Everything's going to be great!")?
They decided to replace a charismatic leader, an iStock mascot, with a committee. Great decision!
I don't like it either, feels like we are getting info from a little guy behind the curtain with the "HQ" post. Seems on body wants to stand up and lead IS. I also don't like the answers coming from Lobo. I understand his job as moderator, but not here. We should be hearing from someone in charge at IS not a forum moderator.

Not a good week for news at iStock. I wonder if we will hear anymore from Getty/iStock regarding the changes this week or if we will have to wait till next week.
In the meantime their website is down again. I imagine we'll be seeing a lot more bugs as they make iStock and Getty one of the same.
Andrew did mention some info and Lobo hinted it MIGHT be tomorrow

And the discount code is BYTES2011 - they must have laid off whoever writes these not-very-funny outage messages. So we save money by recycling old 2011 verbiage
Or the Twitter message

Posted By rogermexico: Everybody has a lot of questions about the short and long term implications of what's going on this week. People are going to be coming in here to provide more information about what all this means. There is not going to be a vacuum following the above announcement.
Lets hope that happens sooner than later. In a clear, concise manner that treats us like adults and businesspeople.

will be a coincidence but today the site was been down about 3/4 times
I was thinking that same thing. I was getting blank pages yesterday as well. What is more scary is that I have not had a single DL today, which has not happened to me on a weekday since about 18 months ago.
