I eventually signed up I am not too pleased about the price/size structure the big jump from 2mp to 10 mp seems rather daft. How many people are using a 10+ mp camera? I think 4 mp and 8 mp would have been useful size increments.
Hopefully i can get into the top 100 club with 1,000 images which means you get 60% commission instead of 50% and obviously the immediate benefit of the bribe to upload.
Glad to see some of the big players there which shows there is confidence in the site. I suppose if you had 3,000 accepted images but no sales they should send you some money.
My new first agency since StockXpert to join I had forgotten what a pain uploading is thank god they have FTP I just hope the IPTC reader works because a lot of them aren't 100% efficient with my broadband or pixvue

BigStock I guess they let some of their reviewers have some holidays,
8 or 9 days to review
I hope thats the reason as they use to be slow a few months ago.
Am I the only one who can't log in to BigStock? screen loads OK but after entering details it just reloads same page

I just had a quick look at their site and all the photos seem to be selling for 1 credit regardless of size (even a 16mp fractal) I presume credits are selling for $1 so 50c per photo not a great deal. Hang on was this the site where once you have 5 Dls on an image then proper prices kicked in? Ok for those with lean mean portfolios but for those with low interest portfolios (where your Dls are spread through out the portfolio) not a great deal. price listnot keen on the size bands 600 x 800 2mp 10 mp original size I have a 8 mp camera so until an image is DLed 16 times I will only earn 50c and then I can only earn $1 until i reach 50 DLs 20 credits (50% for us) for unlimited resale licence seems a bit cheap Strange both the best sellers are 51 Dls each and by Photoshow obviously one of the first major player to sign up.

prices how about
300 x 400 50c 600 x 800 $1 2 mp 1200 x 1600 $2 4mp 1704 x 2272 $3 8 mp 2304 x 3456 $4
not sure about price increments after that 12mp and 16mp
prompt payment is important either set pay days Mon Wednesday and Friday or within 48 hours

A thread with no replies but its Saturday night in Europe OK for starters FTP ITPC reading no or very simple categories to ease uploading or an autopopulate feature 50-100 uploads/day Fast but fair reviewing system with some indication if a simple correction was made could it be resubmitted (more like Istock). At least 50% of the sale price, bonus percentage on one image per 100 images (I know one of the other new sites offered this) paypal/moneybookers to pay international contributors. In this field to make an impact you would probably need some incentives to encourage photographers to upload such a few cents per single upload or lump sums per 100 etc. Then you have to attract the buyers and there are a lot of agencies out there

New credit prices mean a few extra cents from buyers who buy small amounts of small amounts of credits old earnings in brackets
300 x 400 1 credit 19c - 26c (19c - 24c) 600 x 800 2 credit 38c - 52c (38c - 48c) 2 mp 4 credit 76c - $1.04 (76c - 96c) 5 mp 6 credit $1.14 - $1.56 ($1.14 - $1.44)
The 3 credit price for illustrators seems like a good idea

I got the following numbers from DT breakdown of their photographers (who wished to be listed) any photographers who don't want their details to show up aren't included.
In terms of portfolio size of the 11,697 listed photographers with a portfolio of more than 1 image. There are 2,734 "photographers" who signed up but didn't upload, I am using the 11,697 figure for all calculations.
1.6% 181 photographers have a portfolio of over 1,000 images
81.2% 9,500 photographers have a portfolio of less than 100 images 43.9% 5,130 photographers have a portfolio of less than 10 images
But i think we will all agree DLs are what matters
Number of photographers with 1,000+ downloads 453 3.8%
Number of photographers with 500+ downloads 856 7.3%
Number of photographers with 100+ downloads 2,657 22.7%
The breakdown of the top 3.8% 1,000-2,000 DLs 240 photographers 2,000-5,000 DLs 175 photographers 5,000-9,000 DLs 38 photographers 9,000+ DLs 25 photographers
with the peak at 36,000
there is an amusing bug of a photographer with 2,147 million DLs

FTP work ok for uploading from UK to english site, reviewing fast sales sporadic but there is still life.

I think after looking at other people's photos for 40 hours a week I would be sick of microstock and I would want to do anything else with the rest of my time.

I get DLs every day but they vary in number dramatically (surprising as my portfolio there is fairly large almost 5,000) nothing like the steady bulk volume of Dls at SS so they don't have as many subscribers but the credit sales are good I wish they would set prices for larger sizes such as 8mp. July is set to be the best month ever there and they did pay up on Friday.

You need 7/10 to get in, five were rejected with reasons and the other five were actually OK, but 5/10 isn't good enough so they just write rejected.
What would be even better is re-edit your first post so we can see the SS rejection linked to the image at iStock to see if the reason was valid.
I personally think you may have OD them on isolated objects.
my suggestion next time, try the five they rejected with no reason and five non-isolated photos from your portfolio at DT (which can't find) anyway I am sure you will get some better ideas from other folk.
But I always thought it was best to give them as diverse a selection of technically perfect photos as possible.
Though I get the feeling its getting harder to get photos online these days.

Its summer time and reviewers have holidays too. Unfortunately at some of the sites this has made a big difference in review times
I had a review results e-mail arrive today for some photos uploaded on the 7th of July so yours shoud be reviewed rather soon.

small batches 2-3 images with flash seems to work yesterday I had a batch of ten FTPed last night suddenly appear this morning after they had been lost in limbo together with a batch of 10 I FTPed this morning so FTp seems to be back.
however reviewing is very speedy and positive.
Featurepics stated they had a few reviewers on holidays but they still start clearing the backlog
Rather strange the search option doesn't seem to work for me but I have almost reached June's total earnings already at FT so someone is finding my images.

Thanks!
I was in the $50-$100 bracket but no payments in the middle of June though they managed to paid me the previous month. i will send them a mail so they don't forget about me on the 14th of July

A few times i have DL misplaced files from StockXpert and they have been as expected but I DLed a few files from 123rf and I was surprised the file size was so low.
Uploaded file 4.52 MB downloaded file 1.04MB
Uploaded file 3.42MB downloaded file 705K
So not really much use if you want to reupload somewhere else, i wonder if paying customers are getting these small files. I always thought it was weird how they quoted the RAW size of an image when I have always just uploaded JPGS.

Did anyone receive payment from their May's earnings at 123rf?
I thought they had reduced minimum payout to $50?

The summer slow down seems to be hitting the review process harder at some sites
Istock + DT are faster than usual
but I have backlogs at BS SS and most surprisingly at FP
usually FP review everything in the queue in one go but in July they just review small groups. I guess some of the sites are letting their reviewers have some holidays
145
« on: July 11, 2007, 06:11 »
Yep there were no accurate figures for the first half of June as I was out of internet access A pity a few of the sites aren't inspired by some of their features such as autopopulate. I had four $4 eps file sales at DT yesterday a pity the other sites don't charge as much.

About 4,000 images there maybe 20 downloads, I continued to upload because i often had a link to my portfolio on the frontpage but my download rate continued to be dire so i stopped uploading too much work for less than 1% of earnings.
