No they don't open a PayPal account, they charge to register your existing PayPal account on Panther.
Why can't they just pay in Euro by normalbank account to another Euro country? There are no costs involved, certainly not between Germany,  the Netherlands, Belgium, France. Why they insist on making Paypal rich by a useless commissions-loaded detour for Euro countries?  :o

Here's an interesting development, wonder what the impact is going to be for DSLR's. Looks like a major change is on the way.
Thanks for the link. Interesting read.

The subs on DT don't bother me so much, especially since they implemented the graduated scale for subs of different levels.  I have had sub sales as high as $1.25 there.  I wish all the sites would do something similar rather than the all-you-can eat buffet.

I wish there would be a size limit on subs. At the moment, large sizes of level 5 images are far too expensive, and I noticed a trend towards XS downloads for level 4-5 images (9 credits for xsmall).
I have the suspicion that former credit buyers switched to subscription (even for 1-2 months) since they can grab the maximum size of the higher level images for peanuts.

For instance, a custom credits pack of 129$ gives 139 credits, or 15 xsmall level 5 images.
For the same sum as a subs package 1 month 10 downloads per day, a buyer has 300 downloads or 100 downloads (level 5 count as 3 subs downloads) at maximum size.

This seems to be a pervert side effect of the level system that can be exploited easily by clever buyers: limiting themselves to level 5 images (which are exceptional or unique), they can have 6 times more of those images at maximum size than at xsmall size credit sales.  ???

Edit: yeah, the site is loading really slow today. Maybe all the contributors checking for their work are overloading the servers.
With 400 people here, it's possible to launch a DOS-attack to their servers without too much load on your own PC.  ;D
They aren't that strong since the main bandwidth goes to RapidShare. You can suck them dry. You can report the links to RapidShare with the proper wording and Rapidshare is known to act rapidly. You can't stop them totally but you can make their life miserable.

I don't think it's easy bucks to write keywords. We all know it's the most boring.
It is! But they should limit the program to native English speakers. I guess DT is anxious too to get this kind of feedback.

Yeh the uploading to many sites is a real downer. Even if you make less going exclusive it may be worth it just so you can shoot more and upload less.
You must be kidding. Since IS introduced the CV, it's the hardest microstock site to upload to.

If it has a netcafe and a local grocery which sells pens, it's not remote. Just sayin'.
Define "remote". I have probably been at more remote places than many here. You can persuade them (with some effort and explanation from less savage locals) to sign a paper MRF but I'm quite certain they won't sign anything on a magic electronic box where they don't have an overview of what they are actually signing. They will think you're with the government or a mining company (since you have this fancy box) trying to make them sell their land. The more "remote", uneducated and backwards people are, the more suspicious.

1283
I really don't see what the big deal is though, its literally just a few cents and your done
If it isn't a big deal, why do they do it then?  :o I never gave my Paypal on any site till I'm close to payout. And of what I read here, not many reach that payout on PM. I have a merchant Paypal account and there are no costs involved sending money to it. If ever. If it's "just a few cents", well then it's not worth mentioning for them too. It sounds like scam: attract many contributors that never will reach payout and keep 50 c from each of them. Too much fuzz about nothing. I don't pay upfront to any site with such deplorable commissions as 30%. They can deduct the "few cents" from their 70% share. SS asked me nothing upfront, and neither did DT, IS, 123RF, FT, etc...

1284
Since I don't have an iPod and don't need one, I will probably stick to the paper app and ask people to sign with a real pen. You can get some neat pens for under 50c in the local grocery and if you're on remote places, go to a netcafe, enter your site and print the release out for 10 pesos (paper included, 22 c). Of course you can also carry some dead tree blank releases next to your laptop. I got pick-pocketed (or robbed) quite a few expensive phones before but never a blank MRF.  ;)

If you lose your CP, your release is gone too. Not to mention the fact that electronic signatures are not accepted as legal in most countries.

It's even more powerful than first shown:More Photoshop CS5 Content-Aware Sneak Peak Awesomeness
 ;D
Hahahahaha. And he even used CS2 to do it.

1286
You pay up front to open a paypal payment channel with them.
No way. I never pay upfront for "storage". They won't even get my Paypal before I would be close to payout. That's ridiculous.

1287
Err no. Independent prices go up to 25 credits for XXXLarge on IS compared to 7 credits for maximum on DT.
I never got an XXX sale on IS, and even medium sales are scarce. That's fine for me since I will never in my life go exclusive there, but if I upload again (not soon) it will be at 2MP. That's good enough for IS. Those who want more, go to DT or download another shot.

1288
Not to mention more and more sales at Dreamstime are 30c subscriptions.
Wrong. The DT subscriptions are 35c for level 1 and 2, higher for level 3 and up. That is for everybody. Where did you get those nonsense? Istock pays less for a credit sale and there is no growth path via levels at all. First get your facts right.

General - Top Sites / Re: Keeping track of uploads
« on: March 27, 2010, 08:13 »
Anyways, back on subject. It works pretty well, but I kinda want to extend the thing. So I'm trying to get some feedback here to how you guys use lightroom (if any of you does) to keep track of where your photos are uploaded.
It's a waste of time. I upload by batches of 10 to all sites with Filezilla (to IS with Deepmeta) then forget. The only rejects I watch are on SS, DT, and IS. Till now, I don't even know what was rejected on FT or 123RF since their reject reasons are stereotypes without any value and I don't know where to find it on their site. Anyways, what can you do? Resubmit is not worth the time, since IS for instance will reject it again for another reason. Often, IS will attach a problematic image area and that can be very instructive.

This ispending/isrejected/isaccepted thing is typical for beginners. The people/persons that use iSyndica and Prostockmaster typically. The sales are the bottomline. Just shoot, edit and upload. I removed Lightpro from my disk since it's an amateur tool: it can't clone, it can't reduce noise and it does things with your image beyond control, things you can do better (and controlled) with Photoshop.

They charge a measly couple of cents (less than a buck for me) to open up a paypal account for some weird reason.
Do you have to pay upfront, or is that deducted from your first payment?

Have you noticed that there are more and more $0.35 and even $0.27 lately?

Paul, as mentioned in my previous post there may be other factors that contributed to your decline in revenue. Lower resolution could be an explanation or dillution via similars, change of the search engine or many others. While we monitor accounts in various ways, it's impossible to keep earnings growing at BME levels in every month for everyone. It's our goal, but various factors may contribute in ups and downs.

I suggest to check your quarterly earnings and see how revenue and downloads fluctuate. That graph is way more relevant for everyone's experience and should clear your worry about sudden shifts.

PS: a green curve above the blue curve represents a mature portfolio with a good RPD. The bigger the gap, the better the quality factors of that portfolio. Blue curve above green curve usually means new portfolio (or growing very fast), high number of similars or lower quality factors compared to your competition. I'm referring to long term trends, so check the quarterly page instead of the monthly one.

It bugs me that I can't see my 5DII files in CS3, but I use Lightroom for raw processing anyway, and export them as TIFs, which can be seen in any version of photoshop.
I use the DPP of Canon that came with the 5DII. The only issue is that you will have a slowdown in your workflow passing by a TIF file on disk.
I have CS2 and that's fine for me.

How to deal with this ?  :-\
The site owner is protected by WhoisGuard, which isn't a good sign, but the site is hosted in Germany.
If you have time to spare, report the link to Rapidshare and the "sharers" will soon upload it again.
Cat and mouse game.
They must earn quite some cash since they have a high rank.

You can download a 900x900px version from http://www.photodom.com/photo/1118611 - (found by tineye).
Would this be OK with IS? It is between small and medium.
