No stock site will take it, even with a release.
edit: I take that back. Creative Market takes anything and passes the risk to the buyer and photographer.

maybe Locke can chime in, he had to take a similar route
Unfortunately Locke's next moves were reactionary, whereas the OP's move were action oriented so it's not remotely the same route at all.
I have a feeling that if I was exclusive, I'd probably be making the same now or less at IS as I am making from multiple agencies. Just from reading the reports of others. A lot of my coin came from the Agency collection, and of course, that ended up going poof. But as for SS, no, at least for me, is nowhere near what I was or think I would be making now. Especially this month, lol.

Good luck with that theory.

I don't worry about taking photos for stock, unless I set aside a dedicated time to do so. Like when scuba diving last year, I set aside a few hours to shoot with a model. Otherwise, I snap what I can if I see something interesting. Vacation is for vacationing.

Now the question really is can you make money on SS shooting random. At 0.38c a sale... why bother.
Which is basically what I said, answering "How much can you earn on Shutterstock...".

"How much can you earn on Shutterstock with random shots?"
Well, you _can_ make nothing.

Too expensive to see movies every day? Wah.

i can understand the rejection for composition, but auto keywording is not a replacement for your own keywords but more asa tool to save you time or make things easier
Not when you have to read them through and delete/uncheck all the rubbish. I'd much rather do it myself.
You don't have to uncheck or delete anything. It puts the suggestions below the keyword field and you tap which you want to add.

Until somebody comes up with a computer program that actually "understands" what it's looking at, all "automatic keywording systems" are doomed to failure.
That's what it is supposed to be doing. It's AI that analyzes the image and returns a set of possible keywords you can then choose from to add to the submission. I tried it yesterday, and it at least got the idea that it was looking at food in a restaurant. It's pretty cool if it keeps improving. I'd rather tap a keyword to add it then type in the whole word.

Well, that was fun ( and the expected result ).

another possibility is preparation for a sale, remember Corbis sold to Visual China Group?
No, Getty bought Corbis, and got in bed with vcg, right?

"I wasn't angry enough (and don't have endless free time and spare cash) to pursue this to make them undo the license once they admitted that they should not do that. But they were technically violating my rights over that image by selling a license to it without my consent."
I just got another email about money they owe me, lol.

The chance of anyone needing a photo similar to something you're planning on shooting next week and the timing working out is zero. Plus they'll want to direct you into doing a custom directed shot that won't likely mesh with what you're doing, for a cheap price. It's just one of those things that won't work.

Question is: does one sell off now or does one keep the stock? I am unsure what to do.
Since I bought at 60, I'm holding, lol.

He already posted about this a year or two ago if someone wants to search.

Think how anyone would use any of that.
Try shooting some regatta images.

But yeah, they are easy to shoot, cause you said so.
I'm certainly not saying I'm an expert (or have ever shot) a regatta. But like those other public events, there's enough people who go to them and have cameras that there are plenty of available images, and it certainly isn't something in high demand. If the OP wants to make more money, adding another site will bring a couple of dollars here and there. Putting effort into what you are shooting will be more productive.

... I take a lot of travel pictures, editorial shots of events classic car shows, triathlons, regatta's, I also take backgrounds, some table top stuff, also photos of my own hand drawn illustrations and paintings....
...any suggestions ?...
Thing is, aside from your own illustrations and paintings, those things are very easy to shoot and what lots of people walk around taking pictures of. Adding another site or two won't really change that. You'll need to change what you're shooting, not where you're uploading it.
Regattas are easy to shoot? Obviously you have never photographed one.
www.shutterstock.com/cat.mhtml?searchterm=regatta28,000 images . It's the kind of thing (like car shows and air shows, etc.) that anyone can go to and take photos.

"A few years back I got to watch a top tier microstocker do a photoshoot. It was a pharmacy photoshoot. He actually bought a label printer and made fake labels for over 1000 bottles with made up medicine names so he could avoid copyright problems in the images. Also there were tens of thousands of fake pill capsules he bought off ebay filling the bottles, as well as shelves to hold it all up and of course models. "
Been there, done that.
Anyone want to buy some empty pill bottles?

There could be so many good ideas. E.g. upload only 1% exclusive at our website. Send customers to our website. Place a link at your homepage to our website. I realy have to say iam a little bit sad about the first replies and the expectations for a final solution. Welcome to reality.
