In that scenario, I guess everything would hinge on how many of the Big Sellers 'pulled' their images from iStock in protest. They don't have to pull their images. They just don't have to opt in the PP.

After numerous disapprovals of my initial 10 images application with photos that are accepted elsewhere (IS, FT, DT,...) I am wondering if anyone managed lately to get approved as a contributor lately with SS? Any motivating feedback is highly appreciated, other is also welcome since it might save me some time! Thanks... To say anything sensible, you should present your rejects full size (watermarked).

An extra sub sale today, oddly enough of an image that was rejected almost everywhere for LCV and boring composition.

Maybe the IS admin are on some sort of bonus scheme based on the success of the PP. Ah yes, good old capitalism at its best. If you can't beat them, bribe them. I was merely sliming in the hope to get a bump in the best match of course.

Why do you think Getty would kill Istock, a company that is making them a hundred million dollars per year? You can expect anything from a company that killed a fine site like Stockexpert just because some overhyped white collar "managers" want their extra bonus. Reading between the lines on the IS forum, you can feel that Sylvan isn't that enthusiast about it all. In a very elusive way, he asked for support - and he will get it since IS isn't Getty and vice versa.

Cold calling in business is a core part of the sales team. They're not calling residences interupting their dinner. When I still had a landline, they always were, at the most inconvenient moments. I registered a couple of times in an opt-out list but they kept on calling at very awkward moments. It's unavoidable since when you have a tiring day job and home at 7pm, it's the only time you are around and they want to take advantage of your weakness then.

What are you talking about man?? Your post is nonsense to me. So what's going on?? What a nice attitude. Danicek is right. Ploink.

FD, you old flatterer!! LOL! It is morning here and no coffee yet... I read old fart at first Well, it's all in the search engine, as we know. Lizard and Suljo dwell on the lofty heights of the Olympus too, but they are illustrators. Apparently BigStock is fiddling a lot with the search engine at the moment.

Add me to the YES column. February was my worst month in 3 years at BigStock, but March is on track to be one of the best - maybe even BME.
We all bow to your numbers and your talent. For the mere mortals here, BigStock seems to go down.

Thanks Hugo! :-) I'm not that stupid as I sound here, and you know now where that buyer of your red haired family came from. I was a bargain at DT! Let me guess, IS rejected it for "feathering"? Lol...

Last month was a BME and this month will also be good, maybe better. Definitely on the rise for me. Amazing. I'll never grab the search engines of all these sites, I guess. Great portfolio!

I have! And what is your portfolio size there, mr. anonymous? I'm with them 5 years and made it to privileged uploader (all sites have those, although they will deny, of course). My earnings fell to 1/3 the past 2 years. By some coincidence, I happen to know much more of their inner workings. SS bought a cat in a bag or a Pig_in_a_poke]pig in a poke.

Thank you for following up
I had a quick look at your site and it has some real informational value. Good images can enhance the appeal and attractiveness of your site. Why don't you just buy some images in the future? On Dreamstime for instance, you can already license more than half screen wide images for 1$ with a very modest credit package. The bad publicity for you and all the email hassles aren't just worth the ridiculous low prices stock images cost these days.

I don't understand why BigStock can't just take our uploads from SS. Perhaps because many upload reduced sizes to SS and larger sizes on BigStock? On topic: the site reprogramming sucks. I always have to login via a silly pop-up screen that never saves my data, like other sites. So I don't check them any more. The old functionality was much better. As to uploading, did they change it again? I wouldn't know since I stopped uploading there. Their "new" upload system already took too many clicks and my earnings compared to 2008 almost evaporated. It's also a site I would never recommend to buyers. Their database is quite spammy. Look for instance for "engineer" and on page 3, 29 of the 40 images don't have an engineer in it.

Since the beginning of the year when the exclusive payments went up, I'm averaging well over $3 a download. I had a quick look for March and on IS I had a RPD of 0.67$ (the same RPD as on SS), and on DT with 1.06$ I'm on my way to a record low. Exceptionally, I had a medium size sale on IS yesterday, and that one made me 1.14$. For March, my revenue on SS is 4 times more than on IS, and I didn't even feed the SS beast in over a month. If your average RPD is 3$+ on IS, you are totally right to stay there.

OK, it is official.... I am ready to "Open Up My Options"... So here is my question... When I drop my exclusivity contract with iStockPhoto.com, what are the repercussions? (What am I giving up?) A less favorable position in the best match, so you will have less sales. You will suffer a commission cut. Your upload quota will fall back to 15 per week.

I would not upload them all at once however. It will work out better for you in the long run if you upload batches of twenty or so. Yes that was my initial advice too, especially for ShutterStock that likes to be fed constantly.

WOW! Thanks for all the feedback. I do have one other question... I have an exclusive with iStockPhoto.com, but that only applies to images that they have accepted right?? I mean, just because I have an exclusive there doesn't mean I can't submit different images somewhere else does it? Thanks! No, you can't. That's the real bad thing about exclusivity, especially if you're an illustrator. You can let your rejected work rot forever on your hard drive, unless you're uploading it RM somewhere.

Ok, I'll ake this clear for people who say this is not unethical. First, the website for translation (www.aquarius.net) asks you to upload "your photograph". By registering, you are making your personal profile on aquarius, and not company profile. I think it's unethical to put your full name below someone else's picture on the website that requires YOUR PHOTOGRAPH. In this case you are right. The issue goes much further though, as it is a fraudulent business, probably also scamming the candidate-immigrants. You probably should also report it to the police.

Looks like ThePhotoStorage has closed their doors. Or they made a big blunder and they let their domain expire, since it is a page by a domain shark.

Will it challenge your world view? Hell yeah, so just suck it up. I went in a skeptic, and came out with a smile on my face because of the new avenues I discovered. Did you see the Light too, brother? I'm currently looking into Buddhism.

It is at least unethical if they use it to impersonate someone, especially a non-existing one, even more one in an illegal business like in this case. I have seen "beautiful women" smiling with headset on many phone support pages of established businesses, like hosters. I never thought that when calling, I would get that woman on the line. A fake identity is like on Facebook or in a testimonial about a product on a sales site, where there is clearly implied that the mugshot is from the poster or owner himself.
