« on: April 10, 2016, 09:00 »
For me model release is a part of a contract. I am not selling wedding photos, but for photographer promotion usage it is necessary and if they sign this option, i can use the photos. May be my contract is big (3 pages of text) and complicated, but it is better to have it.

I would decline any photographer who included something like this.  I am hiring them.  I am not there to be their next promotional model.

No.

If all you have is one photo, I wouldn't even worry about it.  People arrange for entire shoots on restaurants.  Yes, you should probably have a release unless its thoroughly unrecognizable.

I might suggest submitting something other than head and shoulders looking at the camera glamour model portraits.  Not they aren't nice - nothing I can do - but it's basically a one not submission.

I think yesterday I had my first ever.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Do you archive your RAW files?
« on: April 06, 2016, 11:09 »
Luckily I decided to shoot RAW from the day I started in 2004 and I have all those files duped on two hard drives.  And I have gone back periodically to some of them to start processing from scratch.

You didn't abandon CM when they started giving away  ELs with their standard license? I did. They can do what they like with their taxes.

Yeah, but we're still involved from 2015.

Would I have to clone the leaves away?

Well, you don't _have_ to do anything.  Depends if you think it would make it more usable for a designer.

What to shoot is the thousand dollar question...

There are literally billions of images of flowers in parks available for a few cents on sites.  It is unlikely that yours would ever sell (sorry).  You could look at it as Photoshop practice if you like.  In reality, you'd probably not ever make back the time you spent on it.

"Great Big Canvas" probably has one of those partner deals where they pay when they sell one...

The internet watches - 10 seconds after I go to greatbigcanvas.com , I go back to facebook and start getting ads from them, lol.

"The media people are at a loss in trying to deal with Trump.  He doesn't follow the pattern and they don't know how to handle him. "

All they have to do is show him talking.  Every time he speaks, I can't believe how stupid he sounds.  Last night, I caught a clip, and as usual, everything was "tremendous".  It's like a drinking game.

This may change and will play into the new royalties system that we going to be rolling out later in the year yes, that's a dropped hint to something big coming, and we're confident that contributors are going to like it."
And I'm just as confident we won't.

I wonder who's going to be right?  ::)

I'm going with you... ;)

I got that through my site and deleted it after the first sentence.

Sure, they don't own your image, and you didn't enter any license.

1368
Or they used to be paying %133 more...

If you are designing for multiple clients daily, you have a large need for various content.  A subscription might make sense.

Graphic Leftovers (glstockimages.com) is very simple to use, no tricks or silliness, and they have some nice curated galleries.  Something like "office moving" may be a bit specific, so you might just have to go where you find them ( excluding iStock, of course, ;) ).

Stocksy / Re: Stocksy Press
« on: March 22, 2016, 18:03 »
I fully understand your feelings and would feel the same. I'm still in full support of Stocksy but on a very personal level my financial results has been rather poor. People think they miss out big time but if you don't fit naturally in their concept your results will probably not be that great and their rejections will hit you very hard. Shutterstock and the devil (Getty) are still by far my financial backbone. That said I would never promote SS or Getty but do promote Stocksy on all levels on a nearly daily basis, hopefully there will be other fair trade outlets with such a great community like Stocksy so every contributor find a fair site in which he fits naturally style and concept wise.

Feel free to PM me if you want to talk about sales ( not that I have much effect on things :) )

At the least, though, the article promotes the idea of member based sites.  Which is something that comes up quite often.

This article might be interesting in light of discussions of being taken advantage of...

"Platform cooperativism comprises a variety of businesses, ranging from media platforms like Stocksy (a cooperative that provides stock photography) to online marketplaces that hope to offer alternatives to tech-giant Amazon and its ilk. Though many of the businesses emerged independently of one another, they are united by common principles rooted in equality and transparency."

"Since its launch in March 2014, the number of sales and clients have outperformed our projections"

I never can understand "we're wildly successful beyond our expectations" as a reason to cut royalties.  You'd think that would already be providing them with more money than they were planning for.

I didn't purport to classify his reading level.  We're talking about his almost embarrassing "speechifying" (as Bush would say).
