It took me about a second to figure out it was a cup of coffee on an images that is several times bigger than a thumbnail. A second is far too long. i.s. the main subject is too ambiguous.

I still think there is a good chance that Vivozoom can make a decent inroads into the market. The big difference is they actually have people that know the market not just a bunch of tech guys who sit around. However, its a tough tough time to be launching a new venture. I'd rather see them launch when the site is properly designed and functional than annoy buyers off the get go. They should give photographers who are putting faith in them more information though. Actual updates, with real information, because even the most patient individual will eventually give up and walk away. Be a shame not to be getting everyone's newest and best just as you launch.

There are cases where they should be a new release and cases when the same one is fine. I usually create a year long release for my immediate family. Although it is technically incorrect. I don't recall having problems for such a release. But if it is a paid model you should really get a new release each time. It's part of the job.

Hence the necessity to do your homework and consider some planning prior to jumping in. Personally I find the traits of a lot of the micros maddening, but it is what it is.

One thing I know for sure is that micros, or those who act as reviewers for micros, don't understand selective focus. Or if they do understand it, they have a heavy dislike for it.

Aside the video it really is a good camera. I've started using the Liveview more and more. First I thought it was gimmick but no, that's not the case at all. High ISO is very nice. Have submitted at ISO 3200, my advice is to buy two of them.

If I can't have it now, why bother?

Getty bought Istock for 50 million. Getty was bought for 2.4 Billion. Why do suppose that is?

I think they will report once a month until the site is fully functional

I wouldn't touch it either. Sounds like a good way to throw money down the toilet.

Who exactly are "We"? I do not do business with Crestock and Canstock, and I pulled all of my images from Fotolia.
There are many ways to tell microstock agencies who underpay contributors and treat us poorly to take a hike. You can go exclusive with iStock. You can go exclusive with Dreamstime. Each treats its contributors very well in my opinion, and have consistently raised the bar on fair pricing. And of course there is the macro option too. Nobody has to be underpaid, they only choose to be and then complain about it after the fact.
I stopped contributing to Crestock and Fotolia and will pull all my images off both of those sites soon. Not like a measly couple thousand images will matter much but I think it will make me feel better. The last couple of Fotolia maneuvers have been very unfair. Plus their, say anything bad about us and we'll kick you out attitude just doesn't sit well with me.

I always find it hard to believe when the self-confessed workaholic and visionary leader of an organization resigns to "make some time for myself and the people in my life".
I wonder - is this a harbinger of sea-change at iStock?
It's never for those reasons, although that is the official press release. I think something happens to the owner when he's no longer the owner. Perhaps he considers an idea or a direction the company should go and finds himself up against a board of directors or some other official who doesn't see it that way. I don't think it takes that long before it's time to leave.

I am surprised he hung on for as long as he did. So many take overs are followed by resignations, purges, etc.

If you have no conversion rate or keep money in USD for some reason. CRA publishes an average conversion rate for use for income tax purposes that is good for the whole year.

Jupiter was doing subs for ages, and so has Getty for some select customers. No they are not the first.

It's really only the micros that have a weird phobia about digital noise. The rest of the world has been very tolerant of it since digital's birth. I saw a bunch of ads by Chevron up in the Metro in DC and most of the photos would never have made it past the keen eye and the 400% magnification of a micro inspector. However the photos were good, albeit slightly blurred.

Selling exclusive at any agency would require a lot of confidence in that agency. Fotolia, at least to me, seems a rather dubious choice for this. They have at least a part time person spending his time figuring out how to lessen payments to photographers. In the case of Fotolia I have to think hard whether to pull my portfolio or not, never mind think exclusivity.

I would use a LR2 CS4 combo if budget permits, then a LR2 PSE, them PSE by itself using Bridge to convert.
what? You're saying I need all three? What does one program do that the others don't? If I spent $700 on a program, I would expect it to do everything, plus clean the frickin' house.
Sorry I didn't spell it out perfectly. what? ? Use LR2 and CS4 if you have money. If you have less money. Use LR2 and PSE If you less money still Use PSE and Bridge. what?

The real lesson you have learned here: Not all people on Ebay are Scum, some people in all walks of life can be, and you run a risk and are responsible to cover the cost if you send an item unrecorded or not-tracked and it is "Lost in Transit".
David (106 Ebay Transactions with no problems)
David, You will eventually meet someone on ebay that will make wonder why you ever sell there. I'm fairly careful but got this guy a couple months who insisted I sold him a dirty lens. Which I didn't. He screamed for a refund, which I offered. He was abusive, arrogant and a real PITA. He wouldn't take the refund offer unless I sent him the money first including shipping. Yeh right. In the end he offered to settle by giving each of us +ve feedback and calling it a day. I did and received abusive -ve feedback the next day. Then followed by taunting, childish emails. I reported him and hope they kicked his sorry ass off the site. This whole time PayPal holds your money for up to 21 days because they are dealing with items which can cause problems. No thanks, Craig's List works well. Collect the cash and everyone walks away happy. eBay is rife with rip off artists of every shade. Peter
