I saw two of my pics being used, one by the Guardian and another by the BBC. So i'm pending those which they have 3 months to report. Perhaps you as well.

Overall, it seems really slow going and a game of patience...

Some agencies want work that has never been on micro so I have to be careful and plan ...

No disrespect to Micro contributors, but from what I've seen from your work it shouldn't be in Micros! I saw some of your stuff on Arcangel, that's much more suitable :)

I believe they are paid per image, so yes, taking a quick look and hitting the reject button takes way less time than actually inspecting the image at 100%. So the faster they go, the more images they inspect, the more $$ they make.

5 cents per image

I would have done but these were conceptual studio shots with MR's and I really dont want to lose them just like that. Then I rather put them in my macro agency at least there they will be seen.

Yea, that makes sense. If they required significant time and expenses to create, why would you stick them in micros? At least with a macro agency they retain their value and in a worst case you just move them to another macro agency.

Same here, 10 photos rejected for under or overexposed pics ??!! Never had this issue so far.

Must be the same reviewer. I would just re-submit with no changes.

erm...just got the first payment mail from shutterstock...which is somewhat strange. I only earned about 59 bucks and the payment mail says the payout was calculated to 118$.....

Is it a little gift :D?
should I "complain"? anyone experiences this before?

Yes, me too, says I'm going to get just over double...they'll catch on sooner or later.

It is kind of funny though: every time I have a sale in SS I say: "it cannot be that file again". And indeed it is always that one

Which one is it ;)

I don't mind the critique, but you're right, and I'm well aware of my level, kind of working on it ;D

Me too, always improving is the key! :)

Do you post-process your images because many seem like they just came straight of the camera on JPEG. Some could do some with lighting adjustments, especially since the scenes are generally well-lit.

Yep very good image

Thanks :) Rio is a beautiful place!

I normally don't submit a lot, maybe it'd be better to just hold off until they switch the search again and then submit all in bulk?

I do like the range of your images of markets and local people. In particular, it's great that you are getting portraits of local people which is something I should be doing more. Keep doing that.

You didn't ask for a critique, but I just think that, in my humble opinion, many of the shots look like snapshots. I can see that often the crops are too tight and you're cutting out key elements.

I see you have lots of editorials on SS. Do they sell well?
I usually upload editorials to Alamy and put them on sale as RM.

Most editorials don't sell well, with the exception of the refugee shots I took in Budapest Sept 2015. I'll only upload boring run of the mill editorials on Shutter, but very reluctantly, since I should be waiting for them to sell on Alamy (RF) but it does take a long long time.

If the editorial is "premium" I'll upload them on Alamy as RM (Live News if it's breaking news). I've also started uploading to Rex Features for live news, which Shutter owns.

A lot of it lately has been trial and error and still trying to get a hang of which types of images go best where!

I tend to shot mostly travel, as I am a digital nomad (with a different main source of income than microstock ;) ) and I'm traveling most of the time.

Me too.:)

In this case, for travel images, I would recommend 4corners and Robert Harding. Also, I'm trying out Water Rights for my water-related images.

Good luck!

Search for what? Can't anyone here give a straight answer? Name a few good macro agencies or how to find them?

Here's a list I put together about a month ago :)

I got 7,67$ (gross) for image on the top of the article.

Ugh so little. I shouldn't expect much more...here's mine at the top:

I photographed a rally full of fascists and didn't get hurt

Ok, cool. I'm not too worried just not used to this business practice as i started out in Micro and only now transitioning more into Midstock.

I hope it will be a nice fat payout and they publish it on their print side. Makes me wonder how many other pics have been licensed and I haven't been paid, considering I'm getting a lot of "zooms" lately...

What are the agencies similar to Alamy where I can sell RM images without exclusivity?

What is it that you shoot? Midstock/Macro tend to cater to specific niches.

I had an interesting occurrence recently. I found one of my pics on the Guardian newspaper, which is a major publication in the UK. It's always nice to see but the joy washed over quickly when I saw that  I wasn't paid for it. Naturally, I got in contact with Alamy and soon after received this response:

"Thanks for sending this over, we have looked and do have a relevant download for this usage. Some of our editorial customers report usages to us over a period of time. If you dont see the sale appear in your account within 3 months of the usage date (by 24/07/2017) then please let us know so we can chase this up for you."

Has this happened to anybody else and in the end did you get paid or will I need to keep chasing? I'm starting to google reverse image many of my RM to see where they've been licensed and how both out of curiosity and to get paid but it's really time consuming.

Yea, it always amazes me how fast some of these guys work. Many must work in Fleet Street (media district in London), close by and rush to the scene as happened during the Westminster Bridge attacks.

It's easy enough with a laptop to upload the images after a few minutes, especially if shooting in small resolution which is fine. I once tried to upload 500megs via ftp at a Starbucks and took me nearly 3 hours.

I know there were Easter holidays, but not so much as to ruin monthly sales. Anybody else can report something similar this month?

For the past 5 days i've only had subs which is disappointing

weird because i'm getting some "irrelevant keywords" rejections lately...

Some of my best sellers are boring airport duty free shops and passengers looking confused at departure panels.

I agree with the above comments and would add that there doesn't appear to be too much thinking behind each of the snapshots leading to subjects which are boring, poor lighting and poor composition. To add insult to injury some of the keywording (as others have pointed out) could improve. One that stood out for me was the "city view from above" and none of the keywords mentioned where the city is!

If you look at the most popular images of Arnhem, the difference is night and day.

Keep going, some of my early stuff is cringe worthy but i'm glad I made an effort to improve.

Great start! You have a good eye for the potential use of copy space and that's crucial for stock.
