I don't understand why they think they're inventing the market here. There's standard expectations that work across the industry, but they seem to be missing that. This shouldn't take months or years to develop, and it shouldn't take that long to fix it either.

That's the only match then. The others must be from someone else.

Shoot exclusive. If they accept any image from the shoot, you cannot submit elsewhere.
You cant submit the shoot ( or remove it ) anywhere else for the life of your contract. Regardless of how many they accept or how poor sales are.
So you're saying that THE SHOT has to be exclusive, but you can send other shots (reasonably different from that one) and of course work for other agencies, am I right?
The problem in "exclusive" is "Exclusive photographer VS Exclusive photograph".
No, not "the shot". "The shoot" and similars have to be exclusive.

I am a beginner also and I don't have an advice per se but I have, since started on stock, lost most of my pleasure taking photos. I used to love photography and now I am obsessed with focus, noise, commercial value and sensor spots. I also have lost some of the enjoyment I had looking at pictures, mine included, since all I see are their technical problems.
That was quick.

Any one notice their sales picking up in the last week, week and a half or is it just me? Mainly on Dreamstime, Shutterstock, iStock and Big Stock....and somewhat on StockXpert.
It's getting better.
I'm not sure you can compare today's sales to those SEVEN YEARS AGO, lol.

There's a difference between 8 years ago and today. Today, you can't rely on the skills you learned 8 years ago. The market was young back then. What works then no longer works today. Today, you need to have knowledge of SEO, marketing, a broad understanding of different fields and a mixed portfolio (instead of just a photography portfolio). 5 years from now, different skills will be needed. The question is...will the veterans learn those new skills or will they give up altogether?
You've been doing this less than a year. You're not a guru.

How was it you were to find the photo-specific link? Many thanks for the advice!
It took a while. I used firebug to try and delete all the non-essential nodes, but eventually I had to stop the script from running, and then I could see the link.

I ran a large design firm and used photos of our work for our portfolio section of our website. The photos had been purchased for print. Getty found the images on our site and demanded over one hundred, thousand dollars in damages.
Well, if you purchased them for print, and then they were used on the web, you violated the license. Seems pretty simple.

The food is nice overall. Not sure if you're styling them or just ordering food somewhere and shooting it. I find the light a bit harsh and obvious in some of them. Actually, I think the composition is a little too close up - I want to get more sense of the gestalt of the whole dish in a glance. That close, it's hard too. Oh, and watermark: http://www.th1nkphotography.com/Photos/Food/Food/i-rTWwWjg/0/X3/Elegant-Tuna-Tartar-50-X3.jpg

As a *general* rule for wildlife & kids, it's better to get down to the "head height" of your subject than to shoot from above.
Yes. The usual "standing at eye level" makes it less interesting.

I work on a cash accounting basis. I report all the income, and use the amounts paid to me in the calendar year shown in my Paypal account for the income numbers. This, along with everything else, goes to the accountant.
Yep, that's what I do. I run my reports of out Quicken, and each Paypal deposit is withdrawn separately, so I can label them in Quicken as being from so-and-so.

There's a use for (most) every photo. Just because a trendy designer with a nose ring thinks everything out there is garbage and useless, doesn't make it so. And shooting with colored gels against a yellow background doesn't make an image more "real" either.

I always wonder why non-US people pluralize "stock" and "microstock".

I'm changing my username to avoid any possible future retaliation. If you must know, my last topic was 'holiday slump'.=
Not sure the point of that, as no one knew who you were, ano no one knows who you are know, including the person you turned it, and all it does is confuse people here. Not sure what "retaliation" you expect. If you were that scared, you shouldn't have posted about it.

You should do it privately, since if you put it on IS, someone can't use it as a logo.

They're ok, but the libraries are full of pictures of horses, cats and trees with sunlight. Keep going, though.

I've actually just joined this site so this is my first post.
Does anyone else have an interview with Stocksy? I didn't know they did this, but they contacted me saying they liked my portfolio and wanted to schedule an interview.
Good luck! ( This shows why it takes so long )
