What would be your most important advice to somebody new in Stock Photography? (E.g. Which type of Photography to focus on, where to submit, what gear to buy)
Don't quit your day job.

There's no way to know. Too many variables. Except Pond5 - they'd get $1000.

ss port increased about 30% to 12000 ss income increased 45%
overall portfolio increased 40%, sales increased 20% over 2014, but much of that portfolio increase is with sites like 500px, picfair, etc with little or no sales so far
Do those polarized duplicates sell at all, or is that just an experiment? I don't track downloads, but $-wise, 2015 is up about %30 over 2014. Hoo-rah!

Couple of sales today on CANVA. Nothing on SS and I didn't bother checking anywhere else. I figure any New Year's Day sales are just a bonus to the rest of the month. Actually spent the day cleaning up my port and closing two exceptionally low performing accounts (V and GL). Sales so slow it wasn't worth even leaving already approved images up. Not when you only see a couple of sales a year. At that pace it would take more than a decade to reach even minimum payout.
39 sales on Canva today. Pretty much all New Year's stuff.

Seriously? If I got any sales, I'd be surprised. So I was surprised to get a Stocksy sale.

Posting this on multiple old threads isn't going to accomplish much. Sorry you had a bad experience.

A: I do all my own processing so it meets my vision. 2: I wouldn't pay any amount, since it would cut into my net too much, and in reality, doesn't take too much time.

Hello,
a client contacted me and wants to use one of my sports editorial picture for online advertisement. I am pretty familiar with editorial terms of use. But my question is, are you somehow able to sell such licence? Honestly I dont think so, but as I am not experienced in this field, any advice is welcome. The picture is http://www.shutterstock.com/cat.mhtml?gallery_id=1152593&page=1&inline=252988123. How the big agencies run it? do you need to contact the athlete, association and agree terms or is it completely prohibited?
Thank a lot for any advice.
Sure, you can license it to him, but you have to make it's clear that it's completely his responsibility to secure the necessary rights from the persons and trademark holders.

I have three lenses I use for stock, and the 24-70L (I) is one of them. I've never had a problem with "noise" or anything. You may want to send the lens and body into Canon for calibration.

I thought he hadn't updated his blog for ages.

I just cashed out there after almost three years with $650, and I've spent a few dollars on things there as well. No reason not to leave content there and support them. I buy there because it's so simple. Just the other day I bought a jpg of a Santa from one of the members here.

Did you try hitting the return/enter key after entering the ID?
Yep, in every field, too. Bet they broke it when they redid the page a few weeks ago.

I just don't see anywhere to activate the search...

Am I missing something on the search? There's three boxes and a pulldown, but I don't see a way to make it ... search.

I'm not talking about some of the cheesy illustrations on stock sites. I'm talking about what advertisers are actually doing with fonts and graphics.

"But what do you mean with the font is dated? "
It looks like something they might have accepted in 2004. And the Christmas font doesn't work with the surrounding elements. And the mix of colors don't work - red with those blues don't say 'Christmas'. The Black Friday ones don't make any sense to me with the ink splatters.
Go online and see the kind of things and graphics companies are using today. It isn't stuff like this.

Well, I've been bit by the deletion bug too. Last time I looked, I had 1800 images, now I have 1300. I only looked because my last sale was not showing a thumbnail in the sales list. BTW, there's no way to see the missing images, right?

Where on FT does it describe video pricing? On the indexing page, I see V_S Price (12-12) and V_X Price (200-200). What does that mean?
And why can't they read the meta-data in the file? No description or keywords come across.
Sean, Google is your friend: https://www.fotolia.com/Info/Contributors/Royalties/Videos There you will see the prices and commission. No idea where you are submitting your footage but it's not uncommon for footage sites to not read the meta-data. Many support CSV files though.
And what bugs were you referring to earlier in this thread?
Thx. I know SS doesn't, but Pond does. How hard can it be? The bugs about 4k and other things.
