Shutterstock shenanigans: This morning I found an incorrectly spelled vector in the middle of page 1 in the most relevant search. I posted it to the coalition group. A half hour later I checked again and the image had been replaced with the word spelled correctly, and had shot up to the #2 spot in most relevant.

Most contributors, including myself, do more $$ on Frpk than SS so far in 2020. But Frpk barely accepts new contributors and rejects 90% of the photos you send... Fantastic! Then Pablo Blanes has plenty of money to pay me for all the vectors of mine he stole. Would you like my PayPal account info so he can send the money directly? 154

Theres now a new post in the coalition group about someone leaving SS for Freepik. Its obvious the site is infiltrating and even managed to get one of their people as admin for a bit.

Quote In your letter you promised that this new system was a + for level 5 or level 6 and that it would keep level 4 the same. Why are these point zeros so low? Why is the rpd of everyone declining? And why should we accept a double down on January? Where in the email did it promise that it was a + for level 5 or level 6 and that it would keep level 4 the same? I saw no such promise. 159

For years Ive helped fight royalty cuts, written petitions, deleted thousands of images on multiple sites in protest, gotten on the phone with VPs from Shutterstock to insist they stop allowing keyword spamming, reached out to dozens of buyers to encourage them to license our work from agencies that give us better royalties, etc. I stopped uploading to Shutterstock more than a year ago over their skewed algorithms and have deleted thousands of vectors from my portfolio, and was planning to shut it off June 15 because I feel doing an action together in one day has more impact. When Jake asked for volunteers to help in the Facebook group I was the only one who responded.
My thanks for this is to have people here call me a hypocrite and repeatedly try to join the coalition on Facebook just to ask me why I havent shut down my port rather than doing something constructive. But Im done now. Jakes on his own with 2,500 people who complain endlessly and attack other people but wont lend him a hand. Go scratch. 161
Shutterstock.com / Re: Accurate Calculations of OLD RPD vs JUNE RPD (Constant Updates)« on: June 08, 2020, 11:03 »I have maintained accurate records of microstock sales and several statistics including RPDL since I started in 2009. For me, average RPDL of SS for all of last year was $0.92. The highest ever was 2017 at $1.36 and the lowest was 2009 at $0.32. So far this month it is $0.26. Average number of sales per month peaked for me in 2014 and declined to about 45% of the peak last year. The complicated presentation of the OP makes no sense to me and could be skewed by a few high-value sales. My numbers so far this month have RPDL lower than it was when I started in 2009. Of course that will change if I get some ELs or high-value SODs but the highest I've had so far this month is $2.50 so am not expecting much of a change. RPDL of $0.26 is the lowest of all the agencies I contribute to right now, with the exception of Canva which was only $0.20 after their change last month (I am not counting their bonus payments which will go away in five months). The SS RPDL will be even lower when we all drop down to level 1 in January - at that point it will be the worst of all the agencies (even iS!) and that is a fact. Very sad statistics. ![]() 162

It's clear you only wanted to join to abuse me, since you immediately came here to do just that. Jake has posted a note there asking people to volunteer. So far he has had one volunteerme. You want to help? Email him and volunteer. But there's no reason for you to be a member of a group taking positive action if your only goal is to be negative and abusive. 164

You can search for images on the DMLA site. A search for Christmas gives you this (for whatever reason Getty/iStock and Shutterstock don't seem to be included):

Just so you know all the micro stock sites are members.
"The DMLA membership ranks, which currently includes industry leaders Shutterstock, Getty Image, Alamy, Pond5, Stocksy, Adobe Stock as well as many small and midsize companies, will now account for more than 90% of North American image, video and media licensing. We are delighted to be joining forces with DMLA from 2020 onward. ACSIL represents some of the largest and most respected names in moving imagery and with so many archives and agencies now offering stills and footage, it is the perfect time to come together to create one complete organization to promote and safeguard the interests of all content creators. said Ed Whitley, President of ACSIL & Bridgeman Images North America." http://www.digitalmedialicensing.org/news/dmla-acsil-join-forces-to-create-stronger-trade-association-for-licensing-industry/ 172

I thought you'd all enjoy these quotes from Stan Pavlovsky when he was still at All Recipes:
"Success in implementing change requires Strategy, Transparency, and Participation. Without these core tenants, execution is a journey to a new place without a map or purpose. ~ Stan Pavlovsky @spavlovsky" "A CEO must provide context and transparency to encourage employees to stay on after the company is acquired. @spavlovsky @CEOpov" If you dont take the time to listen and understand, then you as a CEO will fail. -@spavlovsky @Allrecipes #CEOPOV My approach is to have participation. It takes more effort, but employees being bought in is critical for transition -@spavlovsky #CEOPOV "Listen. Walk before you run. Get feedback and have empathy. If you want to drive accountability, understand how everyone feels. @spavlovsky." I always go back to having a clear strategy and provide context to employees to help alleviate resistance to change. @spavlovsky #CEOPOV "Employees need context. A vacuum creates rumors and stories. Participation is critical. @spavlovsky @MeredithCorp @CEOpov" "Lack of clarity and communication causes fear in employees. @spavlovsky @MeredithCorp @CEOpov @WTCSeattle" 174

Because ad agencies, some of their biggest clients, are quite liberal and would be disgusted to see his political leanings. |
