I don't really see the point. Don't we already know what is good and bad with most sites? And, anything that most people don't know about will never get enough votes to be statistically significant.
If these become the official industry awards for micro sites will start sending people here to vote come polling time.
A side benefit could be a lot more contributors finding out about the forum, therefore becoming more informed about what is going on with micro in general and the alternatives out there. It could be another small catalyst to change.
I guess it's just me, but I think most of these companies suck. So, I shudder at the thought of them actually receiving positive awards for that.

I don't think that is their goal, but what their actual goal is (other than make money)... I can't really say.

I will do my own thing, it would still be better to rally around something new then to not. To bad we can't all agree to at least try
Well, my vote would be that everyone promote my site, but I don't think there is going to be a big rallying cry for that.

Like Mike said, you won't get a consensus. Everybody has different ideals of what they are looking for. You might as well promote what you think is right and not worry about what everyone else is doing.

I guess I'm of the opinion that if you have a network of buyers, are a top contributor, and have the knowledge and skill to run a successful site, why would you want to share that with everyone in the microstock world? Keep it for yourself, earn all the money and save yourself some headaches.

Consider this analogy: We are soldiers going to battle. Would our enemy be more likely to retreat if we said: 1. "We will all give our left leg and right pinky finger for this cause." or 2. "We will all die for this cause."
I think I'd be more scared of someone that would cut off their leg and pinky. That's demented.

Wow! I never thought I'd see this happen. Good luck everyone. These decisions are never easy. I can't join in because I deleted my image there a while ago.
I addition to what jsnover said, your image stats disappear when you delete your last image, so you may want to copy or record any stats you want to keep.

Reinstated? Your portfolio was removed for a reason. I wonder how SS would allow your port to go back online.
I cannot see SS allowing these guys to go back online under the same pseudonym. It's obviously an open secret that these guys will try anything to open new accounts and do the same thing all over again since they believe they didn't do anything wrong.
WOW.
I always thought it was standard SS operating policy to suspend an account while they investigate, so a final verdict may have not been delivered yet.

I think we call them agencies but they don't call themselves agencies, at least not any more. It implies a certain responsibility to their clients (us) and heaven knows they don't want any of that.
It's because crowdsourced zoo doesn't have the same appeal.

That's pretty disturbing. I definitely had a fear of losing control of my images when they announced the forced migration. I just didn't realize it might actually happen to someone.

I wonder how that account was run. If it was a group or a hired bunch of illustrators working together? It would be very depressing if one bad apple illustrator ruined it for a group or team of illustrators.
I agree, but, at the same time, you have to be careful about who you hire. I've never hired anyone to help me create my illustrations, but I was thinking about it at one time. My thought was to hire people not to create original designs, but to have contractors create illustrations from my own sketches. That way, you don't have to worry about them taking designs from somewhere else or having any claim to the design's copyright. Just my two cents.

It's less about quitting for me now, and more about building something better. But, everybody has their own goals and levels of success, so it is hard to say what the best solution is for anyone in particular. You pretty much have to look out for yourself.

I usually just quit out of Photoshop after I do a large batch edit of files. That seems to help.

I wonder if it's partner sales Cory, I can see my shots but when I click them they are no longer available. THanks for the link Poncke, I'll go look.
That's what I assumed it was. Either way, it was annoying. I always joked about Fotolia being run by robots, but they were pretty cool about sending me a final payment under the payout limit. They just asked me to pay a small fee. 123RF, on the other hand, went full robot on me. I thought about asking them if there was a human there I could speak with, but I decided that it wasn't worth fighting with them.

Be careful when deleting your images. They may sell for several weeks afterwards. I'd recommend setting your payout to the highest setting before the end of the month, then when you reach the lowest payout threshold delete your files. When sales stop coming in (or after a month), then set your payout back to the lowest amount and get your final payout.
Just a cautionary tale because I sold $46 worth after I deleted my files, and they pretty much refuse to pay it out until I reach $50. So, I had to upload a couple more files. Hopefully, they will sell soon, so I can be rid of 123 once and for all.

On which site did you experience the greatest increase in gross earnings? Choose one of the following answers.
compared to what? if this is my first (real) year they've all gone up.
the end bit was weird, and kept saying my email was already subscribed, no matter which boxes were checked or unchecked. then it locked me out. (no biggie, I don't want to have to post a reflector to Australia)
I interpreted that as which site grew by the most in total dollars not by percentage. I guess if it is your first year, then you don't have stats from last year though.

Filled it out too. I'm not sure if I just sign my name to it. It's kind of hard to fill it out anonymously (at least with my answers).

Yeah, it was pretty awful, but not too much lower ($100 or $200) than December 2011 or 2010. On the plus side, I earned enough for it to be a BYE (best year ever).

This is a funny thread. I chose "Troll" just because its the most unlike-me assessment there is, which is funny, because that means I lied and made the pole inaccurate, which means I probably really am just a troll.
LOL.

There seems to be a lot of paranoia in this thread. Unless you live in a bubble, your style is going to be influenced by other artists. It's pretty much impossible to create something that is a 100% unique style or look. That said, I wouldn't go out and be a copycat of one artist or style, but I don't think there is anything wrong with having similar qualities to or being influenced by your favorite artists.

It's a shame if the site went under. Chud's a good guy (and artist), and I think he had good intentions when he opened up this shop. I definitely was rooting for him and wishing him success.
