Fotolia has always been my worst site. Funny thing when I cashed out my "$54.00" in June I was going to delete my account. Well within a week I sold $13.00 worth so I'm still with them till I make it again...maybe within the next 5 years...lol. Next time I'll close the account the same day I cash out!

I personally gave up on featurepics. I honestly don't know how they keep the doors open. I've sold 1 picture on there since I've been a member. My microstock is the same as what is on all the other sites which sell good. My macro stock hasn't even had a bite. I'm not sure what market she is trying to break into, but it certainly isn't mine. I'll proubably end up pulling my portfolio. Hope I can get my 5.60 out of there. I quite uploading quite awhile ago. Has any one sold any Macro stock on there??

I can't log on to iStock. Everytime I put my user name and password in it just goes right back to the log in page. I tryed several times and the same. Any one else having a problem with this?

Before you do apply any of these cleansers, I suggest you try it on some unimportant photos or negatives first. This way, you will know if it works, or if it would damage the old emulsion, and cause more damage. Better safe than sorry.
I will These poor things have about been ruined. I don't understand why they would make a negative of the page, then make another negative of the photo and tape them together with some kind of red tape. Why didn't they just make a negative of the typed page with the photo already on it. Just doesn't make sense. There are almost 200 pages of negatives missing.

"Naptha or ordinary liquid lighter fluid works very well as a goo remover. Be very careful around open flames, sparks or enclosed spaces.
Birchwood Casey "Gun Scrubber" (the original version, not the new and unimproved version that now contains alcohol) is also a very effective solvent for old adhesive residues. It's nonflammable. Be sure to use it with adequate ventilation - it's not bad stuff with reasonable care but may cause dizziness and headaches in confined spaces. The main drawback to the stuff is it evaporates so quickly sometimes several applications are needed to do the trick. On the other hand, it evaporates quickly and cleanly so that can be an advantage.
For the negative itself a light mineral oil might be better than a vegetable oil. PEC pads or something similar could then be used to remove the oily residue."
I'll try the lighter fluid. The whole page is a negative with the part of the book negative being cutout and a photo negative taped in it's place. It's the glue from the tape used to hold the photo negatives in place that created the sticky situation. The tape is still on there. These were the negatives used to publish the book. I don't know if this is still how they do publishing or not.

ok here's the situation...I've got negatives to a book that was published in 1964. There were photo's in this book as well and these photos were also negatives that were taped to the book negative. The problem is this, where the negative photo's were taped to the negatives of the book it left glue from the tape that was used. Many of the pages were stuck together from this glue and were difficult to seperate. How do I get this glue off these negatives without damaging them.
Hope some of you older photographers from the day of film can help with this one.

How long does it usually take to get a payment from fotolia after it's been requested?? I requested it on June 12, I know that's not really that long ago but usually I get them in a matter of days from the other sites. First pay out from Fotolia

WOW..with all this confusion I think I'll wait a month or two before I even attempt to upload anything to Veer. Hopefully by then all the bugs will be dead and maybe I'll be lucky and they'll accept my shots on the first try. From what I've kinda observed here they don't seem to favor the isolated on white shots, which to me are stock..but who knows..every site is different. Good luck to all of you and hope you are successful.

Any one wonder why they aren't including a 3800px max size?? My Nikon D200 only takes 3800...something..max size. It seems they are missing that size in between the 2400 and the 4800 size. I was surprised to see nobody questioned that. I just posted the same question on the Featurepics forum..so hopefully they will consider it for all.

A few dollars here and there make millions.... Its so easy to belive theyre fakeing fraud to get more money, since we have no way of controlling this. Maybe this is very common and Fotolia is the only ones taking it back from customers. It must happen at other agencies too. What do they do?
Up to a point I think this should be Fotolias problem to deal with not us. There must be solutions for creditcard-fraud.
from past users comments it appears that Dreamstime does the same as Fotolia, as well as Canstock and probably a few others.
iStock however, takes the hit themselves.
Doesn't Big Stock do this also??I know they started holding some of your earning untill it cleared the bank. So if you made say 20.00 and your balance shows 80.00, only 60.00 could be cashed out untill the 20.00 through the 7 day hold process. I think more of the sites should do it like that.

Wow that is rather scary...one of my biggest sellers there is three cans of vegatables. They are also on Big Stock and sell great there. All the other agency's turned them down for copyright issues although they don't have the brand names on them. Maybe I need to cash out and close my account before they do the same to me..

Ooops......Thanks leaf for moving this...you can tell I wasn't thinking and was in the Featurepics section before I posted. I promise I'm not naive.
I use Filezilla to upload.....what it does is it times out after a few minutes even though it shows them still uploading...all the rest of them stay connected and if I don't catch it I think it's done untill I go to Fotolia and see they didn't all make it so I have to go through it again. I'm going to try the flash uploader next time to see if that works better.

oops, give me the ref number... please
I2200184 Heh I'm trying hard....just can't seem to get it to work.
Ok, Ok,... I need to change the wording... This image has not accepted yet. We are trying to "categorize" the published (obviously "accepted") images.
Thnaks..that explains it

It's microstock, the same images are seen on every web site over and over, so the customer is going to the cheapest.. that's why all the sites do subs now without an opt out (StockXpert's will be gone soon I'm guessing). The cheapest wins, and any site that tried to charge more, for the same image on another website for less, has failed. Crestock will fail too, why pay x10 times the price for an image available on istock for half that at the exact same resolution?
I wonder if price really need to go down at all. Who are the buyers? Does it really mater if image price is $1 or $10 for them? Common we are talking pennies here. I probably spent more on groceries monthly than these buyers for images :-)
Amen to that...not only the grocery's but the gas to make the money to buy that loaf of bread!!

Elena.......when I go to Manage Portfolio....it is still the same. There is no place to go change the catagory to micro or mid stock or submit for gold images. All I have on ther right now is micro stock..is this why I don't see the option's??? I'm sorry I keep asking, but I just don't see the same layout that appears on the http://featureimage.com/FP-Test/account/updates.aspx

Thanks for the info Milinz. Maybe what I'll do is delete the non sellers on alamy and put them on featurepics. I just haven't had luck with Alamy and hopefully I will with featurepics once this is started. That's the reason I went to micro stock. I've only sold one on there and that was last year and my share....well 29.95. Long ways from the $200.00 payout...lol. When are they planning to let us begin this? I know I looked today and they don't have the new stuff on the portfolio page yet.
Wow.. Seems like it is not clear, that http://featureimage.com/FP-Test/ IS THE VERSION where you can make these changes. Please login there and go to "Manage portfolio".
Review Mid Stock Images - a list of images you listed for >$15. You need to move them into the mid-stock or micro-sock categories. Review Gold Images - we preselected just a few, so the list can be empty Submit Gold - a place where you can submit your gold images.
It is very difficult to go through the entire portfolio, that is why we marked all images <=$15 as standard, >$15 - you need select the category (standard or mid-stock) Thank you!
That's Elena...I'll go there now

Another question...is Most Photos considered microstock or mid stock... I just started uploading there in the last week and haven't sold anything.

I'm assuming that the mid stock are alright as long as they aren't listed on micro stock....now my question is what if they are on Alamy? Are they still considered exclusive to featurepics and can you list them as such?
Alamy is not microstock... So, that is out of question that is to be considered as any kind of problem if you have listed images there or even on some other big sites as Gettyimages, Veer (not marketplace) or Fotosearch (but Canstockphoto EXCLUDED)...
[EDIT] Only what I am not so sure is how it will be handled in situation when your images on Alamy are sold under their subscriptions... I am sure that such images (gold derivates and mid-stock) will be included in future affiliating with other mid-stock sites under some circumstances and additional licences with tweaked commissions for authors.
