In my case it's the opposite - October has been completely dead - not one download so far this month (and even for a dead site like StockFresh, that's not typical for me). Glad you're seeing something stirring, but I'm thinking their best bet is to change what they're selling - they should sell the engine for their stock web site to aspiring artists, cooperatives and agencies. Looks decent and works well - certainly beats the heck out of k-tools
Great idea. I think they could probably make more selling their software than they are selling photos.

I guess the old ignore lists were zapped when the forum upgrade happened? I just ignored one post and saw the offending item disappear as expected - so I think it's working for me (Mac OSX 10.8.2 and Chrome 22.0.1229.94)
yeah, the old lists were zapped. Thanks for the report. Strange that it is working for some and not for others :S

There are a couple members who can't seem to ignore users. They can click the 'ignore' button but the posts keep showing up. other members aren't having problems.
Are you able to ignore another member and hide their posts or is it working for you? If I can find a pattern to why it's working for some and not for others it will help a fair bit in figuring out a solution.

Yeah, I'm quite surprised they aren't prioritizing this. That have said on their site that other add ons like RM sales is more requested... but if the search doesn't work, I'm not sure any add is usefull.
Another example.
If I search for race car I'll first get a pile of carpentry images, then some healte care images, then a few pages of scary halloween images, some images of monte carlo, several pages of people in an embrace, and if you're lucky you might even see a picture of a race car

thanks for digging these up.
I love the expression on Jon's face after the interview makes the comment 'you must have needed the money', but Jon doesn't get a chance to respond. He's like.. whaa???

I feel the rumors are still pretty much all over the place. They keep going back and forth and saying the camera will be announced a Photokina, then photoplus, then not at photoplus. 3D, 1S, 5Dx
Anyhow, I'd be tempted to buy it if those pixels were all quality pixels and it compete with the lower pixel count but good with noise cameras (like the 5D Mark III). But again, at that price, you could get a medium format digital camera like a Hasselblad or Pentax. The canon would be more versatile but the sensor would be a fair bit smaller.

Here's a nice little clip of Mary Ellen mark talking about being a photographer. I liked it so I thought I'd share it here.

rewatching the video again.. i don't think it's saying we shouldn't do things we dont' want to do.. or won't ever have to do unpleasant things. I feel it was saying decide what you really want to accomplish / do in life and work hard at working towards that goal even if the end results isn't being monetarily wealthy. Pursuing a profession / lifestyle you enjoy is worth more than money can buy.

I think the shutterstock team needs to look into it actually. I can see anyone's portfolio on the shutterstock site.

Hi!
#16 is actually in my wife's portfolio, and had 160+ downloads over the years (100+ on SS), with extended licenses too (on IS) All in all - not completely useless - there must be something wrong with those buyers ... :-))))))))))))))))
Not such a big hit at DT ... [www.dreamstime.com/royalty-free-stock-image-santa-budget-transportation-solution-image7276926] ... but not so bad at IS [www.istockphoto.com/stock-photo-7933600-santa-with-budget-transportation-solution.php] ... and definitely not bad at SS [www.shutterstock.com/pic.mhtml?id=21311407]
;-)
Nice shot. That was actually one of the best stock images of the bunch imo

The video simply says:
Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life. ― Confucius
That sums it up nicely. I feel society is in a blind race for money and it's easy to fall into the trap when really, it serves no purpose other than to provide for our needs. There is no point in working simply to get money in the hopes of THEN enjoying life. Enjoying life while you are working and you won't have to worry about earning enough to enjoy life. That said, as a photographer, I feel I'm already retired (don't work)

I've taken to heart your non-animated ads request. In the future I'll only accept regular non-animated ads.

Is Fotolia Tanking for anyone else?
I was making like $800 a month there, then it dropped to $600 and now I have made $18.00 so far this month! What is going on?
Anyone else finding the same thing? Help!!
Melissa
Nice to see you back Melissa ... for those who don't know, check out her user ID# .. the 12th user on the site. Anyhow, there have been a few people discussion a drop in fotolia income. It seems Fotolia has taken some people for a real roller coaster ride. My earnings have been pretty stable luckily, I've been uploading a lot as well however (if that helps at all).

I got the 4.1 version of ktools installed today and they added a couple nice features like image zoom.. (for example here http://www.realstockphotos.com/photo/194/cavity-dentist-drill.html). They also fixed a number of bugs and added a number of nice other festures.. but.. They didn't change one of my biggest gripes about ktools .. the search. Perhaps they feel it works properly as it is If you search for Dentist Chair you'll get all results that include a chair or dentist or those search terms are any part of the keywords (such as chairman). The search defaults to 'newest uploaded' so you can get some really irrelevant search results - still a disapointment They did fix the problem with having to log in and click a button every time someone purchases an image though.. which was a HUGE problem before.

Thanks for all the support guys.
Ideally it would be great to find ways to give more value to those who are premium members. Any suggestions?
I have removed the ads for premium members but I'm still unsure about that decision. I feel it would be better to give added value in a different way as when it comes down to it, it is the advertisers that are paying to keep the site running. The premium memberships help of course, but the entire year of subscriptions only cover about two months worth of hosting, so there's another 10 months of hosting left+the time needed for upkeep of the site (which is paid by advertisers). I also hope the ads are relevant to members and ideally they provide some value / information as well which premium members 'miss out' on.
