my profits are 100% of my earnings since im a vector artist.
Fair enough. Thanks for clarifying. I don't follow the vector forums, my remarks above were purely related to stills photography. Added: which, now that I've looked at the symbols, were totally irrelevant to the is thread as the OP is a vector and video artist. Sorry!

you can see in the attachment what im talking about. And im not even working that hard. What im mainly doing that is increasing the sales (i think) is analysing the market, seeing what sells, whats popular, trends, etc and boy oh boy let me tell you. That has a much bigger impact then just uploading random stuff that looks cool. I cant predict the future but if i keep uploading more and more, learning the markets, the crafts, and improving my work process i cna only see my income keep going up for the foreseeable future.
Far more important, how are your profits? Income hardly matters if it isn't far more than your expenses making the popular images. I see people saying they're having great sales, but that they haven't made back the costs of shoots made two years ago.

hey guys, i dont know what to think, i started from scratch in june 2017, and it's my best month so far with a 35$ US commission. My port is now around 800 pics (IS SS DT), 500 on alamy (since december), 400 on AS. I saw a progression in my revenu. Like SS and DT. Is it possible that the photos of new contributors have a better place in their algorithm? I do not know anything about it ... only a thought that I have. I have an average income of about $ 70 / month, income that I did not have before, so for me it's nice. Then when I go out on a mission, it's mainly for the pleasure of taking pictures and improving my techniques. For now, I see only positive ... we will talk about it at the end of my 2nd year!
why are you writing an irrelevant message about the subject? Do not you see the title?
It's not at all irrelevant. However, he's obviously a newbie and doesn't know how much better things were. But things change, and this is the new reality. So long as there is a steady supply of newbies who are happy with $35 for 800 images, they don't need to change anything.

My sales are down, but also I had a higher proportion of PA sales, which shoots the rpd down. Quite probably, Getty is working hard to migrate buyers into PA.

That's the way it is. Apart from Jonbull on here, everyone else I've read from says new content isn't selling. I can't comment on that as I haven't uploaded there for two years. FWIW, my May was over 20% down on last May, which was already pretty low. If you want to be totally scunnered read the rally the troops message on their news forum. Have a sickbag to hand.

I finally managed to log in the ESP contributor site... I see account management tabs, royalty tabs, but I don't see my portfolio with images.
How does it work? Where is the upload area?
To be honest I think I want to close my account, I used to make good money many many years ago, but now is all outdated, I rarely make anything. If I close, do they keep any remaining unpaid royalties. Is that how it works?
Thanks
I haven't actually done it, but in ESP, it would seem to be in the first box, 'Upload and Review Content'. You can also upload via DeepMeta v3 AIUI. I believe you get your money if you cancel your contract. Indeed, only today I read this: http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/getty-price-reduction/msg513583/#msg513583

Luckily no one will be passing off my stuff as creative or original. Maybe I'm old but what kind of idiot gives any credence to these Facebook "influencers"?
The big companies, evidently. Sony etc, in this case.

Another FPOS.
First person on scene? You mean 'first person to be caught, and there will almost certainly be more'?

Often it stops for several days, then the back sales get added in a rush.

Where is the YTD counter I can't find it, I thought istock had stopped showing the daily downloads are ages ago, I find not being able to see what has been download and when extremely frustrating, if all the other sites can do it why cant stock?
The YTD counter doesn't show what has been downloaded, it only gives an indication of number of downloads. It isn't in real time and it stops and starts with monotonous regularity. However, to see it: Account Management > Profile. In addition, they have, out of their infinite magnaminity, provided a account of images 'viewed' (i.e. clicked on) and those added to boards over the past rolling month: ESP: Content Statistics. Don't shoot the messenger.

Frankly I have myself considered that rather then having a spread of images all over the place and considering the way SS and Adobe are acting etc to delete all ports ( not the RM ports) and throw it all into IS.
Yebbut you've been swithering for a couple of years at least, so you're clearly not fully convinced.

Be aware that not all exclusives are doing well (I'm earning between 1/3 and 1/4 of my previous earnings, but as that also applies to rpd, I haven't submitted anything for almost two years) . Some are, those with very high shooting expenses. However, I don't know how vector/ raster artists are doing, and the different media have tended to differ in terms of returns.

I remember someone on here claiming they'd said that, but I couldn't find a link and I don't remember reading it anywhere official.
That might have been me ;-). Circular discussion!
I think they said they'd give us 'better' tools, and IIRC there may have been one or two additions since pulling us into ESP, but nothing very interesting (to me).

They can, but they choose not to, in the grounds that they can't know what a sub sale has earned until the sub period has expired. I'm averaging a lot more on sub sales now than I was when they were 'fixed price', so we need to be careful what we wish for.
Of course, they could still tell us which files sold in real time, without the $$, but they choose not to.

Doesn't DM rely on info from iS? So if iS info is 'stuck', so will DM be?
(My stats have been stuck from the 6th, not the 1st - and somehow I got one increment recorded o/n, which is one since the 6th.)

Priceless - thanks for the post. While looking for it, I found this article, which shows the pics several of the other leaders posted of the same grouping: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/jun/11/merkel-macron-g7-photos-social-media-trump Bwahahaha "Take the photo Angela Merkel released of the G7 leaders meeting this past weekend. It has been compared online to a Renaissance painting, which begs the question whether anybody on Twitter has actually seen any Renaissance art. It more recalls a stock photo with the file name AGMtenseboardroom.jpg."
Actually, I aggree with the initial statements about this photo looking like a classical painting. So many details, so many expressions, such a powerful body language!
It did put me in mind, a bit, of The Night Watch.

Eventually it was officially revealed that it's not working. I read about someone else who can't get onto the forum, despite help from support.

One thing to be aware of is that iS for one change their end use licence terms from time to time without announcing it (at least, without announcing it to sellers on their forum or via email). I have no idea whether others do the same. So in the event of a legal case, you might have a problem establishing which licence was in use at the time.
One obvious example: it used to the that the end user licence said that the use of an image had not to imply that the model was endorsing a cause or product - that clause has gone completely (and was widely ignored even when the clause was extant). I'm pretty sure many end-users don't even read the licence terms. For example, the clause, "if you are using content for editorial purposes, you must include the following credit adjacent to the content or in visual production credits: "iStock.com/Artist's Member Name." is still in the agreement, but ever since they started editorial, it has been very seldom used in practice. More usually they just credit iS or Getty, sometimes no credit at all.
"Judge agrees" ... ay, there's the rub. You can never guess how the judge will determine on such a subjective matter. S/he has to be the 'man on the Clapham omnibus' (or whatever the equivalent is in other countries). 'Defamatory' is particularly subjective. For example years ago an iS model posing as a teacher (I hope they weren't really a teacher) was used in an apparently satirical (but IMO missed the mark) item in The Onion to illustrate a teacher with paedophilic tendencies towards a little girl in his class (there was also a photo of a little girl, apparently not from iS). Lots of people thought that image was defamatory - or even illegal; but there was the counter argument that the article was clearly satirical. One previously very active iS and msg forum member argued that iS should not take it up as The Onion was at the time a big iS buyer and they might stop buying which would be bad for all of us. (Actually, in that case, IIRC, iS did require them to take down the image from the article).

Hello, I uploaded 3 images to iStock about a week ago. They came back today as rejected. They wrote that these images are news and not editorial and need to be uploaded on Getty Images news desk. I am not a Getty contributor. I only ever signed up with iStock. Can an iStock contributor upload at Getty Images news desk?
Allegedly yes, but anyone who has reported anywhere I'm on didn't get accepted. Doesn't mean others do and don't report, and doesn't mean you wouldn't.

In most cases the ofenders would loose in a court if sued, at least if sold through Getty where all model releases uploaded by contributors are very clear about that " use the Content in any Media for any purpose (except pornographic or defamatory)......
Except that 'pornographic' and 'defamatory' are very subjective terms and some instances I've seen which I would consider 'defamatory' have not been considered as such by others, e.g. a model being used to illustrate an article about escorts, without 'posed by model' or similar. I would imagine that the agencies are pretty reluctant to sue for fear of scaring other buyers.
