I don't submit at all, but here are my two cents:

Any agency that claims they can't (all of a sudden) cover Paypal processing fees is blatantly lying.

Their payouts increase, which means that they must've been getting more customers, more sales and more money. Their share of the royalty (and increased profits) should very well be able to cover those processing fees. If they couldn't see it coming beforehand, they're either terrible at financial planning, or they're simply extremely greedy.

Same story with lowering independents' commissions instead of raising exclusive commissions. It's just a way to make more profit from their sales, at your expense.

Get out while you still can and pray for them to go bankrupt soon, because the industry could use less of these kind of scammers.

New: For distribution partner subscription downloads  you will now also receive 0,23 EUR.

What was the old commission? Is it an improvement?

I didn't focus too much on iStock, and I certainly won't be focusing on them now, but I won't jump ship. They're still my number 2 earner, about 25% of my microstock income.

Now my credit number is 992 (!), just 7 credits short of level 3. Geez.

It's utterly insane to put the burden of the risk on OUR shoulders, by taking a bite out of our profits to cover your expenses and possibly losses for sales that don't follow through.
You come here explaining the situation but you're playing the 'please feel sorry for us, it's a tough business' card while you seem to forget (or rather, neglect) that we have expenses too, and we're taking as much risks as you are.

In the past few years almost every agency in this microstock industry has pulled some kind of trick on us, because apparently it's easy to deceive contributors. You think you can get away with dishonesty, unfairplay and deceit but in reality you're destroying the industry, and our trust.

It's absolutely disgusting to see how businesses like 123RF will stoop so low for a bigger bite of money.

I have contacted DP again about this issue. They said:

"Hello ***,

Your royalties on the monthly subscription downloads were changed to 44% a few weeks ago. You have recently had a few sales by daily subscription, so that's why you have not noticed these changes."

So far, all subscription sales were either $0,30 or $0,44, so I don't know if this is at all correct. Has anyone received MONTHLY subscription sales that were more than $0,30?

They've cut commissions in the past by introducing a RC-like scheme, claiming they'd double sales. Which never happened. So to that extent, they can't really be trusted.

The revenue is okay, RPD average. They're my 5th agency.

Well, September was a BMY, but not necessarily due to the changes. And that still doesn't mean much if the other months were bad.

About the same compared to last year, though.

October has been pretty bad in terms of downloads so far, so my initial positive surprise about the changes has now turned back to pessimism.

I suspect this is because I get paid in Euros. Somebody from the US buying in US-$ and them having to pay me in Euros is their worst case. And they know how to avoid that.

Proof: FT shows you a statistic how many files were bought from US buyers. From beginning of 2011 on until today, in my case that is about 1,5% of all sales.

I'm being paid in euros as well. In my case, about 18% of my total revenue is from US sales.

Well, all negativity and bias aside, I'd like to know some hard facts:

1) Does DPC butcher sales on other sites?
2) Is DPC garnering enough sales to make it worthwile?
3) Will DPC actually destroy the market as we know it with a race to the bottom?

I'm not opted in, but as for question 1: I'm not seeing any decline in sales on other sites since the existence of DPC, and even if there would be a decline, it's hard to tell if it's because of
DPC.
Therefore, I think the answer to question 3 is 'no'.

That leaves question 2 unanswered. Perhaps opted-in contributors could shine some light on this?

That's private.

he's not paying taxes  ;D ;D

Taxes, what's that? ;)

So far, sales seem to have increased, and the RPD is roughly the same as before (I had a good balance of 1-credit, 5-credit and 12-credit files, so the lower RPD for 12-credit files is compensated by the higher RPD for 1-credit files). Nothing spectacular, though, but at least I'm not losing out.

Since you hold the copyright to your images, you can sell them wherever you want to if you're not exclusive at some other site. So no, you're not violating any ToS by doing so.

You brought it into the discussion that SS was selling high royalty licenses, I just asked how often you get them.  If you get one a year and your RPD is less than $1 it doesn't seem to mean much but if you are getting 10 or 20 a month then that really says something.
BTW SS isn't the only place selling $100+ licenses, GI sales just came in and I'm sure I'm not alone in getting them.

I just don't wish to disclose too much information about my stock income. Besides, this was just meant as a funny contrast, not to start an iStock vs. Shutterstock debate.

How many sales for that amount do you average per month?

Vector Image: $0.67

How can a 1 credit vector image net me only $0.67?? That must mean the buyer got a credit for $3,35. I thought the minimum price was around $8???

Asthebelltolls, I think you need to read that focus rejection more carefully and understand what it says.

http://www.shutterstock.com/contributor-resources/rejection-reasons/why-images-get-rejected-for-focus

Focus. Your image is not in focus or focus is not located where we feel it works best.

That's not just out of focus.

Back to DP. I have had no rejection problems or issues from them. Maybe because I don't just shoot out whatever crap I took, upload 200 shots, and see what sticks. I think their reviews are more than fair and liberal, open to accepting a broad range of images and concepts.

Commissions: They were caught with a "partner" site selling our images at highly inflated prices and we are getting subs commissions. That's dishonest. At first they denied it, then they said, well everything that partner takes is a sub. Then how long ago they said, we''ll be paying 44% for all DLs.

Really? We don't get 44% now, and while 30c subs is meeting the industry standards, better than some like TS and slightly lower than the mid point on SS, it's being used for outside sales, not subs!

DP has tried to hide and trick us, over and over and when caught, denies or falls back to, we'll change it. So how many times do we need to catch them before people wake up, that DP is trying to play us and make money in shady ways.

In case some people here have lost track of time and promises. DP said in July that they would be repairing the 3% plan and the contributor payout scheme would be changed. (scheme is a good word for it)

I received an e-mail from DP regarding the 3% royalty.

Quote
Currently, we are changing our monthly subscription royalties, so you will be receiving 44% out of each monthly subscription download.

WHEN?

I don't know, but I've asked them.
